  1. This team, when they take a penalty, almost feels like they've given up and expect to be scored on. It's almost a given when the other team goes onto the powerplay. They cannot &^@#ing kill a penalty. SOOO GLAD I DIDN'T WATCH THE GAME TONIGHT.
  2. Our franchise is &^@#ing cursed. My God. If we don't win the draft lottery next year, the hockey God’s are damn cruel.
  3. He took a penalty didn't he? And now the Avs are going to score and make it 2-1
  4. every goalie that has played us seem to turn into Vezina calibre goalies. it's the curse of the Canucks, I tell ya.
  5. Hope to see better results from special teams. Because special teams have been anything but special.
  6. Those two definitely would help us almost immediately. Not sure if NJ swings that deal though. Are they in contending mode now?
  7. probably unlikely to happen. There is something broken with this team, and organization.....
  8. Yeah, that's true. Boy, next season is going to be huge isn't it? Petey's last year before 2023 when he needs another contract. If the team is a mess still, would he want to come back or prefer to move on? What about Bo, Miller, Boeser? Do any of these guys actually want to remain under this current management/regime? Making the playoffs would help quell a lot of those questions, but you have to wonder if this current group is frustrated and disillusioned with current management. Is their play a vote of no confidence in management?
  9. It's tough. Your right. It is about a man's livelihood here. With that said, this is a business, and it is a results oriented business (sounds harsh, I know...). And to this date, 16 games in, he hasn't been able to produce much on the team. Not yet. Though it should be noted that a lot of the teams that were expected to be good, have been either out to a slow start, or haven't been good at all (Vegas, Avs, Islanders, etc), and the teams that weren't expected to be very good, or good at all, are doing well (Edmonton). This is a strange season. I guess Green probably has at least 4 games, if not 9 games (the 25 game mark) where management/ownership will decide what to do. I can see ownership not making a decision about management until after the season. But that leaves Benning to do whatever he deems necessary to save himself from being out of a job. And a man in that position never thinks for the betterment of the organization that he feels could relieve him of his duties. Then again, Aquilini is a pretty meddlesome owner, so I can see Benning having to ask him to sign off on things before it goes through. Are we the worst run franchise in the league? Because right now, it sure does feel like it with all the dysfunction there seems to be in the organization from top to bottom. Is this how it feels to be an Oilers fan? I mean, at least they were at one point the city of champions......
  10. I hear you. I think it has little to do with Stetcher and Tanev and Markström being "leaders", but I do think those guys were genuinely liked in the room. There's chemistry and relationaly dynamics in sports teams too. It's not NHL22 where you just get a bunch of players together, no matter how talented they are, and they start winning. There's a lot of moving parts. I think how management has treated exiting players - many of them citing lack of communication from management, specifically from Benning - as a sign of disrespect. I think there's something to that. Benning isn't the best communicator, when he's in front of the mic, so I can gleam just from that alone, how he communicates with the players. Toffoli, Tanev, Stetcher all said that there was no communication with management. Is that Benning/Weisbrod's "Boston" ways of handling things? Because it's clearly not working here with the players, and this market. Stetcher would have been good to have, and for what he signed for in Detroit, Vancouver could have easily signed him for that. But management thought otherwise. Why? Because he's small right? He'd be an excellent third pairing guy on the team right now. I'd rather have him than Burroughs. Though Burroughs hasn't been bad either. Nothing against him. He's a good depth piece on the team. I think the psyche of this team might be broken. I get that everyone wants to blame Green, but I think it has less to do with him (though there might be some influence - I mean, for goodness sakes, allow the players to have some chemistry with each other). But I think for me, it might have to do with the player's confidence in management. Good management inspires the entire organization. Everyone in the franchise. Benning and Weisbrod have not done that. Aquilini won't make a move, not until there is fan dissatisfaction and apathy. If he waits until we are apathetic, his business is going to be in trouble. What a stupid business practice isn't it? 8 years of evidence from his blundering GM, making mistakes over and over and over again, not seemingly learning from his decisions, and this is the team that we have today? With that said, I badly want the team to do well. We all do. But I ain't watching the game tonight. Might check in here to get a sense of where the game is at, but if it's more of the same from the first 16 games of the season, then I'll be watching (ownership and management, not the game), waiting, and seeing what's next. Can you imagine having bought seasons tickets to this $&!#? I tip my hat to y'all who are season ticket holders. This is hard to watch. Damn.
  11. I don't think NJ would want Pettersson at the moment. Instead of selling low, we need to be selling high. That's Miller. Miller for Hughes and Graves. It's a decent deal, except Luke doesn't help the Canucks right away. Severson is also a RHD, so that's something the Canucks are desperately lacking. I'd do the Luke Hughes and Graves deal if the team wasn't so desperate to make the playoffs this year, and if the team's situation isn't a complete $&!# show.
  12. Yeah, something like that could work. Both Graves and Severson wouldn't be that young, but they would fit kinda the core that's in place. Is Severson a RHD? Because if he is, then that's golden. That 1st though would have to be attached to the deal. No way the Canucks part with Miller without that 1st coming back. Would you rather have Severson and Graves as opposed to a top prospect and a 1st coming back? A top prospect that can help contribute right away, I mean. Not one that is a few years away from making an impact on the team.
  13. Then what about Miller for Wahlstrom and a pick? They can keep Mayfield.
  14. Yeah. I'm in agreement with you there about GM's who's job is on the line generally make poor trades that tend to protect themselves rather than do what's best for the franchise moving forward. I wouldn't allow Benning to make any deals for the time being. If the team doesn't turn things around, he should be fired at the end of the season. But then again, with this ownership group, who the &^@# knows. They kept Jim for this long, wouldn't be surprised at all if Benning's back at the helm again. If we don't make the playoffs, I'm even more curious about the state of the players and whether they actually want to come back to Vancouver and be a Canuck. The pysche of this current group does feel a little fragile. Not sure what has caused it.
  15. I dunno. Brock, as much as I like the player, he also has never played a full season. He's injury prone, sadly. He's never fully healthy. I'm beginning to think that even this season, as early as it is, he probably is injured somehow somewhere. He just doesn't seem right when he's on the ice.
  16. Yeah, me too. I want to keep Brock. He's still young at 24 yo. He's entering into his prime, and I think he'll get better the next several years still. Thing with Boeser, is that he's never actually stayed healthy enough to ever break the 60 point mark. Is a player like that worth 8M or more? That seems ridiculous to me. Petey has never scored more than 70 points, and he's getting 7M+. Boeser never scoring more than 60 points is worth 8M+? Doesn't make sense to me, or is there something I'm missing here?
  17. That's actually not a bad trade for us or for the Islanders. I like Wahlstrom as well, and he'd be a good addition to the team - possibly replace Miller eventually. I would rather trade Miller, because I think he's got a higher value in terms of getting more in return. But Boeser's QO kind of scares me. Would he be getting more the Pettersson? That's kind of crazy considering he's never broken 60 points in his career. EVER.
  18. I'm not confident that this management team can get those deals done before the season. The thing between Gillis and Benning. Gillis was able to sell to his players to take discounts to make a championship team. He almost got them there. Benning doesn't strike me as someone who can convince the players on the current roster to take a discount to make a championship team. He's had 8 years at the helm, and he's not much closer to icing a championship contending team than when he started 8 years ago. The team doesn't have enough room to sign Miller to 7M, Bo to 7M, Boeser to 8M, etc. Someone's gotta take a cut, or we need to trade someone from one of those three.
  19. Yes. Garland has been a great trade. How many can we name of Jim's signings and trades over the 8 years has been great? The only one that comes to mind are Miller and Garland, maybe OEL? Love that Benning drafted the following players: - Pettersson - Hughes - Boeser - Demko - Hoglander - Podkolzin Love that he traded for: - Miller - Garland - OEL Didn't care for: - Pretty much every bad player acquisition by Jim.
  20. Yep. No to trading Bo. Sorry, I think that would screw up the room even more. Trade your captain? The same management team that "did not communicate" with Tanev, Stetcher, Toffoli, etc. and just let them go. Ok. Yeah. No. Horvat needs to be resigned to a long term contract with the Canucks. I'm not sure if Hank and Danny know what's going on with the team right now. But maybe they could give Bo some advice during this time. He needs support and advice.
  21. LOL Is it just me or does it feel and seem like just about every player that Jim signs, or trades for, turns to $&!#. With the exception of JT Miller.
  22. I think Boeser will remain a Canuck. But he's not getting 8M. There's no way he's getting more than Petey.
  23. If he continues to struggle this season, I can't see Brock being signed for 6M. he's probably deserving more of 5-5.5M.
