  1. I think Woo could be a good third pairing defenseman in the NHL. 15-17 min kind of player for the Canucks?
  2. I think this draft is the draft to make as many picks for RHD as much as possible. Obviously, take the BPA in the first round, but after that, assuming we hold on to all of our picks, to pick the best RHD when we choose.
  3. Man, if he can turn into another Connor Garland, that would be golden.
  4. Yeah, most players in junior are like that as well. They're really good players, scoring goals and accumulating points like crazy. But then they come into the NHL, and they're no longer the player that's scoring goals and getting points, so they either have to change their game to remain in the league or they're out to Europe or the KHL somewhere. I think that's kind of what happened with Virtanen, though with him, there's an issue with work ethic.
  5. It's a huge gamble by Vegas. Depth is usually what gets teams far in the playoffs. Good depth pieces that can contribute to the team. Worried that if Eichel gets hit (which is inevitable), that it could really go sideways on them. But I don't &^@#ing care about the Knights. Good for us if that deal goes sideways. If it doesn't go sideways, then we're &^@#ed. Because Eichel is a really strong, player. Having him and McDavid on the same division. oof.
  6. Edmonton definitely out of the gate are red hot. 8-1 record like you've stated. But I don't think this level of play currently by the Oilers is sustainable over 82 games. No way. They're bound to have some bad bounces going their way. They're relatively healthy as it stands right now, but that could change with injuries, and it's probably bound to happen at some point. They're going to go on a losing streak, that's just inevitable, and when they do, other teams in the division will win some games to catch up. It's likely that the Oilers could win the division, but it's still way too early to tell. Vegas? I'm hoping that the Canucks can go on a little bit of a run to make up ground. Calgary? SJ's played surprisingly well. Teams will still be fighting for that top spot. Lots of battle still in the season. I'd be curious to see where Edmonton's record will be around the 20-25 game mark. That'll be, in my opinion, more telling of where things will head at that point of the season.
  7. That could be described for most games, I think. It's a game of inches. I'm glad that they've finally won. Let's celebrate and relish in this. Another win might not come our way for a while.
  8. Could the team keep Bailey as the extra forward? Dickinson, Motte, Highmore could be a really irritating line. That would be our fourth line right? Because if that's the third line where do you put Podkolzin and Höglander?
  9. that's true. he is so fast on the ice. how is he looking on the pk?
  10. If he doesn't deserve any credit, then you can't blame him for the losses either. It doesn't work that way. We've been criticizing his systems for the mounting losses over the last 3 games at home, then he wins this one, and he still gets criticized? Help me understand what do you mean when you say Green was his usual blender/blunder self? Why doesn't he deserve any praise or credit for this win? I agree with you that Garland definitely the best player tonight against the Rangers. He was buzzing out there all night.
  11. If he continues to play like tonight, those minutes will increase. Prayerfully.
  12. was that the line up for tonight's game against the Rangers? I like that third line. Podkolzin and Höglander have some chemsitry it seems off the ice. You think maybe it translates onto the ice.
  13. Yeah. Green's got his deficiencies. But give the man credit for when he wins. It's a team game, that means that the coach has a part in winning the game just as much as the players do, and when they lose, the coach has as much to blame as the players do. I'm just glad they won tonight. A relief.
  14. kinda surprised about that considering that they're both RHD. And neither of them have played a ton. Hamonic just got back, and Schenn has been only in a few games this season so far. Glad it worked, though.
  15. He'll be as patient as he needs to be, until fans stop showing up for games. When money is the matter, things will change. As much as he loves the Canucks, he's in it to make money and profit off of fans. Well, if you don't win, the fans will stop coming, and if apathy sets in, maybe even stop purchasing merchandise. That is a harder place to come out of. So he better not be screwing around, and start taking things seriously. Even Eugene Melnyk, as cheap as he was, has now a Senators team on the rise. Lots of young players together. They're going to be good. We should be good now, but for whatever reason, we are not. If Benning goes, I'd love to see, Jeff Gorton, former GM of the Rangers come. If for nothing else than the fact that they won the lottery twice. If he could bring that luck to the Canucks, would help us tremendously. Imagine if we won the lottery next year and got Shane Wright. With that being said, I would not be surprised if Benning traded that 2022 pick, to salvage his career and save himself from being fired. Would be the most Canuck thing to happen.
  16. That’s true. I hate Edmonton. Never liked them. They keep saying that they’re a city of champions, but they haven’t won anything in such a long time. I can’t believe they’ve taken so long to become this good. And yet at the same time, our rebuild isn’t completely done yet either. Seems like if Benning and Green are gone, we might be entering into yet another rebuild. I really hope if we do, we do it the right way. The fans deserve a proper rebuild, so that we can be good for a decade plus. At the rate that things are going right now, I’m not sure what the next steps would be to fix and change things. Whatever culture existed within the AV/Gillis/Sedins era, isn’t here anymore.
  17. Torts was here for a year. He had won a SC with Tampa Bay, but when he came here, things just fell apart. Just because a coach has won somewhere, doesn't mean they can win here. Out of the four that you've named. The only coach that's available is Joel Q. And with everything that has happened, I'd rather the organization and team I cheer for, not go there. Stay away from him at all costs, I don't care if he won 10 Stanley Cups. What he did was/is deplorable, and we don't need men/people like that in the organization.
  18. Oh man. Well, if things don't turn a corner soon, then I can't really see anything beyond 25, maybe 30 wins? At the current rate that we're going, I think this could very well be Green's last season behind the bench. I'm not sure what else Benning can do. He's gotten rid of the bad contracts, he's drafted and made trades for a top six. He's improved depth, gotten some decent middle six and bottom six help. Benning for all of his mistakes, can't coach this team. That's on Green and his staff. So the fact that they're losing, is on Green, his systems, and his staff. They're not getting the best out of this current group of players. Should Benning go? Probably yeah. He's had 8 years to run with this team, build it up. Is he the man to bring the organization to contention status? Probably not. Is Green that coach to help bring these players and the team to not just playoff contender, but Cup contender status? Probably not. Unless he can prove that, I'm not really convinced, and I like him. Inevitably, though, I think his insistence on having Baumgartner on the coaching staff will ultimately be his downfall. The man is not a good assistant coach. I think the Canucks will probably be, if things don't turn around by the end of this month, will finish at the bottom of the division, and near dead last in the conference. There's still some time, but not a lot of time left, or not much room for error. These games matter, and they count. Every point. Calgary and Edmonton it seems will be battling for the division title. If we do somehow seem to recover, then I can see us being a middle of the pack team in the Western Conference. But that's about it.
  19. that's a huge turnover in terms of player personnel. but Green had the entire pre-season to get the team ready, and then training camp to install systems, so I'm not sure how the team is so bad, and looks lost on the ice when they're playing. He either didn't get the team to buy in, or the he's in the process of losing the room. If they lose again on Tuesday, boy, that hot seat is only getting hotter. They need to score on Tuesday, or I'm not sure what else the team can do...
  20. I guess the good thing is if the team is $&!# the whole season, ownership will eventually lower prices for tickets. I can finally go to a game, only to be frustrated that they keep losing. It's really just frustrating to see this team with the way they are. Why does this team not have an identity already? Isn't that what the pre-season is about??
