  1. Yeah, i agree with this. The Canucks haven't demonstrated nearly enough to warrant their own players giving the organization discounts. Discount for sucking? No thanks. With that being said, it worries me that EP40 isn't as confirmed to sign long term. Him signing short term gives me the impression that the jury is still out in his trust with management and where they're heading. He probably has Benning PTSD just like the rest of us. f**k Benning and his regime. They f**king screwed us over.
  2. And a jerk. But this explains why Tony DeAngelo is the way he is. Still no excuse for his racist comments and slurs, but I can understand why he is the way he is. His father has everything to do with the kind of person he is. What a horrible role model and dad.
  3. McWard is an interesting one. RHD, he’s still very young, probably still very raw, but has potential to be there as a player for the Canucks. Hirose and Woo I think can probably challenge (or will be close) for a roster spot on the backend. Woo for sure with the season he had last year, most likely a bottom pairing defenseman. But that’s good given that we have someone coming up from Abby taking a spot. Competition’s not going to be easy for these young lads. Hirose I think with his smarts, could be a Tanev-super light, given his smarts, and lack of physicality. I think he could probably challenge for a spot and crack the roster. Our defense is better, it is not a cup champion defense. So it’s possible that he could very well crack this current rendition of the Canuck’s backend. Hughes, Soucy, Hronek, and Cole. That’s the top four. Who’s playing with who? Who knows at this point. Depends on whether Soucy can play his off-side (isn’t he a natural lefty, but can play the right side?). Cole probably players with Hronek, and allows him to roam offensively. Either that, or it’s the other way around, but management doesn’t seem like they’re going to be bringing anyone else in that’ll disrupt that potential top four. They’re pretty much pigeon holed in - it’s just a matter of where in the top four. The bottom pairing? Well, that’s anyone’s guess isn’t it? McWard probably not going to make it, he’ll spend at least a year in Abby with the coaching staff to work with him and his game so that it is NHL ready. Hirose? Might need a full season, but I’d guess he’ll be one of the first call ups when the defense is depleted with injuries (which we all know as Canucks fans, happens every single year. I mean at this point, it’s just Canuck tradition).
  4. Seems like the Canucks are interested in everyone lol In all seriousness, this has been such a quiet off-season. Been a while since we’ve had one of these… But it’s probably time to announce the Myers trade, Petey extension, and a few more depth moves for the season.
  5. No way Canucks should be offering a 1st for a pending UFA. I’m assuming that 1st goes to Carolina, assuming that he signs a long term deal with the team. If not, then no way I take that risk. Lose a 1st, AND the player? Quickest way to get fired. But I agree that it’ll take quite a haul to get Pesce out of Carolina, something I feel like Vancouver doesn’t have the assets to do. I mean, I guess we could pursue Pesce in UFA, assuming he gets there.
  6. That deal for Bo is not going to age well for the Islanders. Bo’s contract to New York is like JT’s contract to the Canucks. It’ll just age poorly. Give Petey the money! He’s probably worth 10M easily. If he signs a team friendly deal, then maybe 9.75M? But I doubt it. This kid knows what he’s doing. I’d be worried if he doesn’t sign a deal come late August/September.
  7. Yeah, I’m not sure how I feel about Petey. Negotiations (if they’re taking place at all) seems way too silent. Is that good news or bad? Usually there is something from the media, but so far, nothing.
  8. Well, with term, management for sure would want to sign him to the max time they can, so 8 years for sure. Cap hit? I say he’s closer to the 10-10.5 M per year for 8 years. Hoping that he signs with the team soon, before the beginning of training camp. Wouldn’t want this contractual talk to take a life of its own during the season. Distraction free is the best - the team needs to have a good start, and a good year.
  9. Only if he resigns here. LOL Assuming he does, then yes, I agree. If he’s not, Bure will still be the greatest player in Canucks history.
  10. Please, Please, Please, Elias sign this contract before the start of the season.
  11. It would worry me if he doesn’t sign before training camp. We know how much of a distraction contractual status can be for the player. Didn’t Brock a few years ago enter training camp without a deal? And then he had one of his worst seasons that year? Forgive me if that’s inaccurate, but I remember Boeser having a season like that due to contract negotiations. There’s a lot at stake this upcoming season. The team starting without their absolute best player? That would be a massive blow. The team cannot afford to have a poor start to the season. They can’t afford to be behind the eight ball - yet again.
  12. They don’t need a guy that makes 12M on the second unit power play, but they have the cap space and room to be able to accommodate such a luxury. Can you imagine having Burns on the first unit and then trotting out Karlsson on the 2nd Unit PP? Holy smokes that would be such a hell to deal with for the opposing team. Don’t even think Vegas could handle a unit like that.
  13. Sounds like a complicated deal that they're trying to work out. Again, haven't heard much on that front, so I wonder if things have stalled...
  14. You know if this was the era of the Sedins - that locker room had great leadership - then I think the room would not have been shaken. With this current room, I think there's just too much unknown in terms of leadership. Yes, Petey and Hughes are stepping up big time in leadership roles, but I'm not convinced that they would be able to withstand a character like DeAngelo. So, no. And plus, Miller is quite volatile, and then you have another player like DeAngelo who is volatile in their own right - I think that would implode that locker room, season go down the tank. Might as well press the reset button. Don't think it's a wise move for the Canucks to bring this guy in. Stay away. Let him be someone else's problem for once. A quiet off-season, for us, is good for once.
  15. I wonder if the Canucks would take a flyer on Galchenyuk; his fiance would be able to live in Canada. Maybe they can even start a new life north of the border? I dunno. He seems like a really low risk player to me (on the ice); aside from his off-ice troubles. if he can get that sorted out, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him.
  16. seems like this management so far has all been about correcting the mistakes Benning has made. and that guy made a ton of mistakes. worst GM in the history of this franchise for sure. At least in recent memory.
  17. I think you move Pearson to the fourth line honestly. PDG is a depth forward - extra man. He comes in only if there's injury in my opinion. Höglander needs to play. If he's not playing, then he's not improving his game. Might as well trade him. But I'd switch Pearson with Höglander.
  18. Wonder if talks with Petey are progressing, it's been really silent on that front...
  19. I think Myers is probably gone. I mean, in a third pairing role, he'd be great, but he hasn't been that over the years, and has really struggled. If management can get rid of that contract, I think that goes a long ways in terms of gaining more cap space, and not being taken to the cleaners by other teams attempting to take advantage. If Demko can remain healthy, that's been a concern over the years with him.
  20. you think we're better in that area? Defense is better, I guess, but that's not saying much since last year it was a complete disaster.
  21. Takes a team to win. Three elite players is a start, but it is not enough. The team simply needs more. More support role players, and maybe 1-2 more elite pieces. Can Kuzmenko be one of them?
  22. Dumba? With what money? Even if Myers is moved I don’t think we could afford Dumba.
