No kidding eh? And he still produced 13 goals from his rookie season playing with those two. That's what's even more shocking. I'm excited for Bo. He's going to have a solid year for us. First season as captain as well.

It's funny. I keep hearing comparisons between Makar and Hughes, and how Makar is "so much bigger" - Makar is 5'11, compared to Hughes' 5'10. They're kind of similar players stature wise as well. Makar might be more physical than Hughes, but I think Hughes might have the better edgework skating wise. Makar is currently out front with 6 points in 6 games played so far this season. Hughes is at 3 points in 6 games. It's gonna be close between these two. Makar is also almost a year older than Hughes (98 birthday, compared to Hughes' 99)

The goals haven't gone in for Jake, yet. Hoping he snipes one in soon, to get confidence going. He's playing pretty decent, thought he had a great game tonight despite not getting onto the scoresheet.
-
Yeah. Myers has surprised me as well. I thought he was going to be bad defensively..... But his long reach reminds me of Tryamkin. Could you imagine if we had those two in our top four??
-
I think so too. He's such a good leader already, at 24 years old. He's entering into the prime years of his NHL career. I think he takes another step this season, 65-70 points, not out of the question, in my opinion, especially once he, EP, and the boys get going offensively. Been somewhat of a slow start for them. But I do believe that with Horvat as captain, with some good solid core pieces around him (EP, Brock, Q, Virtanen, Miller, Ferland, etc) - our fanbase will eventually see Lord Stanley on Rogers Arena Home ice. How sweet will that day be??

Meh. Then what's the point of claiming. lol. -
didn't really keep track of how many hits Jake had last game. But he seems to not be actively engaged physically. I don't know, maybe it's me just having seen Jake in the past put up big hits, and he hasn't really done that on a regular basis, I'd say, over the last year, if not more. I still think Jake's going to be a pretty valuable player for the Canucks. He may not live up to his 6th overall pick, but if he can consistently produce 40-45 points a season. I'll take that.

Yeah, that definitely stood out to me as well. Its obvious that he's put in the hard work this past Summer. It's early, but he's been consistent, even if he hasn't had too many points yet. I think Travis will throw Virtanen a few bones to keep him engaged and pursuing. I honestly believe that 20 goals (or close 17-19) is a realistic goal for him this year, especially if he can be skating on a line with Gaudette as his centre. I think those two can work well together on a line. Curious to see the game tomorrow night against the Wings! Demko's first start, hoping the boys will show up for him, and that he'll have a good game himself. If there's a good time to prove that Demko's ready, now's as good time as any against Detroit.

Yeah. The PP that the Canucks did have in OT, Pettersson didn't shoot. Either he didn't have a shooting lane, or he deferred to either Hughes shooting, or Boeser. Boeser, for whatever reason, doesn't seem like himself. I don't know what it is. Glad that we got the win, but our top guys (EP, Brock, even Bo) aren't really going offensively. EP had so many multiple point games last season, and this year, it's been tougher I guess for him. Perhaps the league and all the opposing teams are game planning him specifically, which, yeah, makes it harder for him to score. I hope he gets going. The Canucks really need him to get going offensively.
-
Definitely did not get that tonight. But I feel like Jake's playing better, even if it's on the bottom line. He could've had an assist if Bo converted the pass tonight. But he doesn't seem like he's just shooting all the time. He's looking when he's got a chance, to make a play. Hoping he can get on the scoresheet eventually. But playing Beagle and Schaller might make that tough to do.

Anyone see the game? How did Bartschi and Goldobin play? It's true that with Baer and Goldy we got some pretty good depth. I don't know if either of those players will actually be long term with the Canucks, though Goldobin already 24, he might have a lot of talent, but might be one of those guys that just doesn't cut it on the NHL level, but too good for the AHL level. Might be Russian bound eventually Baer is older than Goldy, but he's also proven a lot more at the NHL level. Right now, though, I think a lot of teams are scared of Baer because of his health and concussion issues.

But if he probably would've cleared if Vancouver wanted to send him to Utica, cause if another team claimed him, wouldn't they have to have him on their roster? -
I think eventually that’ll happen. Can’t see Sutter being there on the wing for long. He’s better suited for a fourth line role with Beagle and Schaller.
-
Holy man. What a video. He’s going to represent the Canucks so well.

Fans sometimes over-react (myself included). I could see why people might have over-reacted to this. Miller was a risk, at least for me, cause I didn't know too much about the guy. But he had a four point night yesterday. That's crazy. I know that's not going to be the norm moving forward, but if he can get 60-65 points this season, that'd be insane. Seems to be a fit playing with Pettersson and Boeser it seems? I didn't get to see all of the game yesterday, only bits and pieces here and there.

My prediction for tonight. Pettersson gets on the scoresheet tonight - 2 Point night for him. he didn’t get a point against Edmonton right? -
That also assumes that a player has drive to be able to do all the things you've mentioned. A part of me thinks that Virtanen hasn't "matured" yet...I'm not sure what it is. Maybe being at home instills that? dunno... I am really hoping that he breaks out this year. I'm rooting for him. But like Green says, it's up to the player.

Unfortuantely, Ho-sang isn't a player I'd want on the Canucks. HARD PASS -
Francesco Aquilini Interview Thursday OCT 3 @ 10 AM
N4ZZY replied to Squamfan's topic in Canucks Talk
it's too bad that he doesn't think the NBA is worth pursuing anymore. guess the NBA ain't returning to this beautiful city. Aquilini should've bought a team when they weren't costing 2 Billion dollars. How much value would a team like that bring to his sports empire?
