I get the sense that Goldobin might be the odd man out come training camp. There's almost no room for him on the roster besides being the extra forward. But how is that going to help him in his "development"? The kid needs a top six role on this team, if not, maybe - maybe a middle six role? But if he can't even make it there, then there's no room for him here. Either a trade is in the works for the kid, or he's going to be sent on waivers. I can't see him agreeing to a two way deal. If he signs a two-way deal, that's great cause then the Canucks can send him down to the AHL without fear of losing him on waivers. If he's on waivers, he's going to be picked up by a team looking to take a gamble on Goldy, and he may just pan out for the next team that picks him up. May.

[Rumour] Puljujarvi to play in Finland until he is traded
N4ZZY replied to The_Rocket's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah. That's true. I'm not sure that JP is on Benning's radar. His moves this off-season would indicate that he's gunning the team for the playoffs. Do they even have room for a reclamation project like JP? Probably not. But if the Canucks were in that season where they could take on a project like JP, I'd go for it. I can't see Holland sending JP within the western conference, let alone the division. Too much risk that if JP does turn things around, he could haunt the Oilers for a very long time. -

[Rumor] Boeser Camp Eyeing 4 Year Deal Worth $28M

I hope Brock signs soon. He's too valuable to be missing training camp. -
I don't think it's just Canuck fans. I think that's just the nature of fans in general of all teams. That's why we're fans. LOL. we love our players, and we see them in a light that may not be realistic when it comes to how everyone else in the league sees our players. That's just reality. But it's fun to engage in conversation about said player - like Hutton. I honestly thought he was going to be a player for us. Just never materialized. Moving on from Ben to bigger and better things. Not to take away anything from Hutton. He's going to get an opportunity, I believe in the league somewhere, even if it's just as a depth dman. he's going to find work. I don't think he's a bad player, just not what we needed for the price point. Hope he does well wherever it is he eventually lands.

[Rumour] Puljujarvi to play in Finland until he is traded

Yeah. I'd offer up Goldobin, a 5th, or Bartschi. But certainly not all three. that's just massive overpayment. And for what? For a player who's disgruntled at an organization that hasn't been able to develop their top prospects in years past? For a player who, so far, hasn't lived up to his draft status. For a player who seems to be on the verge of "bust" label and territory? Holland can keep him, if he's asking for the moon. Nobody in the league is going to give him what he wants, and I think he knows that he's at a disadvantage. If JP is going to be moved, Holland's not going to get a huge haul for the guy. I'd say Goldobin and a 5th for JP is good enough for me. Goldy being the older player, but he's far more established NHL player than JP is, hence the 5th round pick thrown in there. We get a reclamation project, see if he can resurrect his NHL career. If not, I don't see Goldobin sticking around, even in Edmonton, and the 5th is a wash, a small small chance the player will turn out into much. I see it this way. If Edmonton can't develop their "top" prospects, then I wouldn't worry about them developing players in later rounds. That 5th, I'm not concerned about at all. Does Holland do a deal like that, though? To a team in the same division? Probably not. With that being said, I see JP ending up in the east somewhere. Carolina, maybe? Maybe a swap of prospects like Josh Ho-Sang and JP? New environments might help? -
[Signing] Canucks sign Oscar Fantenberg

hockey players are so humble and down to earth. one of my favorite athletes. they're very different from say, NBA players. i remember when we had the Grizz here, and star players just treated the media here like garbage. they were rude, and unpleasant to deal with. -
Ah, I gotcha. I still believe that Marner was good for JT, and JT was good for Marner. Good players make other good players around them better. That's just the way it is, and how it works. So I'm not surprised that JT scored a lot more with Marner on his line. And it doesn't surprise me of course that Marner was producing a lot more with JT on his line. But I do agree that Marner is the better player over Boeser, and I love Brock!

Being in and playing in his hometown's got to be hard. I really do admire the kid for trying to become the best player he can be. And I hope this season's going to be another breaktrough season for him! If he can get to 18-20 goals, and 40 points, I'd consider that a pretty successful season. If anything more than that, then that's gravy and bonus! If he can achieve those numbers, and be defensively responsible. he's going to be alright, and i get the feeling, his confidence will just skyrocket. There may be another gear to his game, just yet, if all goes accordingly and everything goes well. Reason not to believe that he won't get to that place in his career, where he can be a 20 goal scorer, and a player who's hard to play against. Those guys are valuable especially in the postseason when the playing gets tough. And to top it all off, he's so damn fast. Hopefully, the hockey mind of his is developing along with his skillset.

Would not surprise me if it were to happen. Hutton would be good there. Not sure if he would be top four dman, but he would be a good player on that third pairing, and would give the Flames good depth.

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on

Loui hasn't been traded yet??? -
i think that Marner is also the better player - we're comparing him to Boeser, right? by 30 points, though? I don't know if he's better by that much. From the eye test, I think that Marner is definitely the better all around player than Boeser is. But even with that said, I wouldn't want to trade Brock. He seems like a quality young man, lots of character, and tons of skill. I'd want to keep him in Canuck colors

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
N4ZZY replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think the Canucks should just do what's best for the team. IF that means that Eriksson needs to be sent to Utica, then so be it. If what is best for the team is for Eriksson to be on the team, then let that be. Eriksson isn't going to be a top six, might not even be a middle six option with the additions the team has made this summer, pushing some possible top six talent to the middle six. Eriksson can be a 6 million dollar fourth line grinder, but i really don't know if he can beat out players like Motte - who's got a great no quit motor and energy. So that leaves Utica. Can't see Eriksson being traded, unless we add. And I hope that Benning doesn't give too much for a team to take Eriksson. OR, can the Canucks trade Eriksson for a bad contract, only to buy out said contract?? Would that be a solution? -
[Rumour] Puljujarvi to play in Finland until he is traded

good. maybe the cost will come down since nobody in the league is willing to give the Oilers what they're asking for. -

Might be a bust to be honest. Still early to state that, I know, but it doesn't look promising for him. Goldobin and Bartschi for Puljujarvi, and adding a fifth on top of that? Personally think that's overpayment. Oilers would be getting one NHL player for sure in Baer, and then possibly another in Goldobin and then we're adding a fifth round pick for a prospect that can't even crack one of the worse NHL teams in the league? Yeah, no thanks. I'd love Puljujarvi for cheap. FOR CHEAP. If the Oilers want more, then they can lose him for eventually nothing (like another poster says, would not be surprised if Seattle selects him, they would have nothing to lose). -

N4ZZY replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Loui still isn't gone? Not surprised. This is one of the most difficult contracts to have to deal with. Trading it away would be ideal, but how does management fit Boeser's contract with Loui still on the books? -

To be fair, he was the top free agent that summer he was signed by the Canucks. Nobody could've known Eriksson would have regressed this quickly. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland
N4ZZY replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
me too! it's crazy that some fans are ready to give up on this kid. He's 21 years old. He's had a rough start to his career, but I think he's going to be a pretty good player and solid defensive prospect for us. I get the sense that he's going to receive a few callups from the Canucks, and he will slowly transition to the big club. It's development. It's small steps for Juolevi before he makes the big jump to the NHL. with this being said, i hope Juolevi doesn't turn out to be another version of Julius Honka -
sure doesn't sound as bleak as some fans want to make it. i'm excited. these are exciting times for Canuck fans. The pipeline, while it may not be "the best" in the league, i'd say is a huge improvement from what this franchise has been used to. This organization has not drafted well, and to be in that spot where we actually have incoming prospects to look forward to - wow, that's just amazing.

huh. interesting. ok. so Canucks know what they're doing

Demko's going to be the backup this season. What's the saying? No news is good news?
