  1. wait. so we can afford Boeser while Roussel is on LTIR? While at the same having Sutter and Eriksson on the roster? I thought we'd have to shed at least one of those guys for sure to fit under the cap, even with Roussel on LTIR.
  2. I agree! I think selling low on Sutter would be a bad move. But if that's the case, how do we afford Boeser? We need to shed some money right now, and if not Sutter, and Eriksson doesn't get traded, then who?
  3. that was a painful video to watch. reminded me of how bad the coaching of Desjardins was.
  4. If Jake hits 20 goals on the third line with Sutter as his centreman, he's better than most of us thought!!!
  5. Sigh. too many bad contracts on this team. I think the Canucks then keep Sutter and showcase him. hoping that he stays healthy this coming season. When they're able to off-load the guy for picks or a prospect, Gaudette, in my opinion gets the call up to replace him. What about Sutter for a seventh round pick? Any takers?
  6. Goldobin I can agree might not have a spot on the team come training camp. But Bärtschi? Where does he go? Extra forward? I'm not convinced that MacEwen makes the roster out of training camp - he would have to be exceptional. I think Leivo might move to the fourth line until Roussel comes back, and either Bärtschi or Goldobin slots into the third or second line. Pearson I can see either plays with Horvat, but he's got enough grit in his game to play on the third line as well. You think Gaudette goes to Utica to begin the season?
  7. I think so too. Especially if he’s given top six minutes with EP40 and Brock.
  8. Yep. I don't think MT's playing style will endure him to long term sustainability. It's just not sustainable. Look at other players who play kind of a similar game - Ferland, Kesler, etc. Their bodies to wear down over time. I still think, like you, that OJ will be a good dman. He's smart, he just needs time to recover a lost year last year due to injuries. I hope he breaks through this upcoming season at some point earning a few call ups along the way.
  9. Let me just say that I am glad that Desjardins is finally gone. I can't imagine if that was Bo when he was 20 years old, what would Bo be like this coming year if the Canucks made the playoffs? What would PETTERSSON be like in the playoffs??
  10. Yeah. Goldobin is definitely a skilled player with defensive defencies. I hope he's worked on his defensive side of the game. I can see this line up, entering into the season. Gaudette sent to Utica to at least begin the season, let his offensive game blossom down there, being the number 1 centre. 1st Ferland/Pettersson/Boeser 2nd Goldobin/Horvat/Miller 3rd Pearson/Sutter/Virtanen (I can see Miller and Virtanen inter-changeable here) 4th Roussel/Beagle/Motte I want Virtanen to be given some time for a top six role. But I'm not convinced that Green sees Jake in that role. But, if he did. I can see Virtanen on Bo's wing, and Miller with Sutter. If Sutter can remain healthy until the Trade Deadline, I think Jim ships him out, and replaces Gaudette on that 3rd centreman. I can even see Miller on Pettersson's wing, and Ferland on the 3rd line. Thing is, though, that Sutter just isn't very good offensively. So anyone who's going to be playing with him isn't going to be any good offensively.
  11. Gaudette can be on his wing, though that would essentially mean that his offense dries up in a hurry. Cause we all know Sutter's a black hole when it comes to offense. But if Sutter is the defensive centre on the team, then that frees up both Horvat, and EP from too many defensive roles.
  12. He needs to earn that position, Alf. So he'll need to outperform and steal that job that currently belongs to Sutter, away from Sutter. If he doesn't do it, then it's basically Sutter's to lose. With that being said, I hope Gaudette takes it at training camp. Sutter is valuable NHL player when he's healthy. He can shore a team's third line centre position for sure. Sutter for a 3rd round pick? I'll do that.
  13. He was on a 30 point pace until his injury?
  14. It's possible. But JB is the GM of the team, not Linden. This is a business. Linden's personal issues with Keith has nothing to do, or should not have anything to do, with drafting the best player available. This should always be the mandate of the organization. Relational issues of the past should not have played a part in the decision to have draft the best player available.
  15. I generally have a tendency to be conservative when it comes to predictions. But I can see Boeser putting up 30 goals no problem, maybe even 35. 40 goals is a lot. I'm not sure if Brock is a perennial 40 goal scorer. He's going to be a 30 goal scorer for sure. Petey can probably also put up 30-35 goals. And Ferland can pot 17-20 goals most likely - and this is under the assumption that he remains healthy for the season. I can see Hughes getting 40-45 points. I think he's going to struggle a bit at some point in the season, because he's also quite small, and maybe not quite as strong. We'll see though, I'd like to be proven wrong in this case. If he can get 50-55 points in his first NHL season, that would be amazing for a rookie defenseman, since another poster alluded to the fact that only one other dman has ever done that - the great Niklas Lidström. Unless Hughes is the next great dman, I don't know if he'll get there. NHL has had some very good dmen in its history, and for Quinn to achieve what only 1 other dman has accomplished would be insane. With that being said, I hope he can do it :D
  16. I think he can get 30-35 points this coming season as well. Anything more than that, and it's bonus and gravy! He's progressing steadily every season. He's not progressing huge, but steady is better than stagnant. I'll take it - guess that's development eh.
  17. Any more news on Gusev and the Knight's situation with him?
  18. I love the Ferland signing as well. 3.5 million for 4 years is a great deal for the Canucks, especially if he's able to stay healthy. With the additions of both Ferland and Miller, to our top six, we got toughness and grit to compliment our elite skill as well. These are exciting days for Canuck fans. All I can say is that I am glad that I am not an Edmonton or Ottawa fan. LOL.
  19. it definitely is inept management. I feel for the fans in Edmonton. That organization's management team needs a change. Does Holland being there change that? Who knows...
  20. If Loui is making it hard to trade his albatross contract, I'd say assign him to Utica, and let him rot in the minors. See if he likes it there. Maybe after a few months of riding the bus, and playing in the AHL, he will reconsider Edmonton. I'd love to have Puljujärvi - I think Green can work his magic to get the young man's game going again. But JP isn't going to revive his career in Edmonton, that much is known. He doesn't want to be there, and management has pretty much all but destroyed their relationship with him.
  21. I'm not surprised by this. nobody really wants to play in Edmonton. LOL. not even Lucic, and he's being paid to play there. Tells me that hockey players not only want to play, they want to win. that being said, Canucks have a good thing going - EP40, Boeser, Horvat, Quinn, these are players that other players in the league are noticing and wanting to play with eventually.
  22. Find myself sometime being a little jealous of the Avs....
  23. I’m not talking about his entitlement. Though I do agree that his attitude and decisions really were odd behavior. There was clearly something not right in the head.
