    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

I'm not convinced that Rodin will succeed in the NHL. but I hope I'm wrong.
  2. Wouldn't surprise me, if they did, so that he could develop even more physically and what not (unless he does that in the off-season, and comes back beastmode).
  3. I could see McCann and Virtanen starting the year in the AHL, to be honest (next season). I think working with Green may be good for their progression, UNLESS, of course, they are lights out at training camp and in pre-season. Then management may be forced to keep them up. But management can send Jake and Jared down to the AHL next season anytime. So if they feel like it's better for their development to be down in the farm team, and get top six minutes in all situations - then they will be there. They can be (if I'm not mistakened) called up anytime after that during the season.
  4. has to be, no? Selling hope to the fanbase, after veterans play has been deteriorating for years now. Torts was right. This team has had a stale core. Some vets should stay with the club. Other veterans should be moved out, for prospects. There needs to be new blood on this team (which there is, slowly being introduced). More on the way next season, I am sure.. Shink and Gaunce?
  5. maybe Higgins has just lost it. mailed it in. might be his last year in the league. retirement after this season is a possibility. especially if no NHL team is going to pick him up.
  6. agreed. Jake is with the Canucks to stay for this year. next season. it depends on how he shows for training camp. might need to be sent to the AHL. and that would be an option for him to work on his game with Green.
  7. Jake is making progress. that's all we can ask for in his first year really. if he's building game after game and gaining confidence. he is going to come back next season stronger, better and smarter with the experience he's gained here this season.
  8. LOL. This thread on Virtanen has been quiet because he's been playing well. shuts the people up from complaining about the kid. lol. love it. Jake is gonna be a good player for us down the road.
  9. fair. Horvat in 117 NHL games has produced so far 47 points according to NHL.com. and Nichushkin has in 155 NHL games 51 points. pretty close. would've thought that the Russian would pull away in terms of points.
  10. really happy or see Virtanen picking up his game after the WJC. he's been brought along slowly and good on desjardins for doing that for Jake. I feel like he's progressing slower than other prospects that members of this board seems to compare him to. but that's ok. not everyone develops at the same pace. I think Jake is gonna be a fine player for us. a top six forward I say. and yeah. hopefully with offensive flair to an already physical game. hope it develops into a more robust game down the road. he's playing well. we should be happy let's see him keep it up against Nashville on Tuesday.
  11. so happy about Baer. producing offensively and playing well defensively and even asserting himself physically from time to time. he's on pace for 18-20 goals if he keeps his pace up. Horvat too is on pace for similar. wonderful news considering this is Baer's first full season and Horvats second full season. and already they are beginning to produce offensively. what more can you ask of these two?
  12. Virtanen could have had a goal the other day against Boston. just missed on Raask.
  13. Yeah. I had my doubts as well in the beginning of the season when Baer wasn't showing much. But I'm glad he proved me wrong. And I'm glad he's showing that he's proving to be a top six player for this team. He's on pace for 30 points, which is a decent season, for his first full season. Let's hope he continues to work hard in the off-season, and come back with an even stronger season. I'm expecting him to break 20 goals next year, since he's on pace for 14. He's getting more comfortable for sure.
  14. really happy to see Bo doing so well recently. he's on pace for 30-35 points this season at his current pace. if he goes any hotter. he could easily hit 40 points. but I'd be happy for Bo to finish his second season with 30 points. he can build on that next season. maybe 40-45 points in his third season in the league. but he's on pace to finish at his current pace, at 15 goals. which would eclipse his best of 13 from last year as a rookie. good for him. Baer on a side note. is looking to finish at 30 pts. 14 goals and 16 assists at his current pace. not bad for a guy everyone thought was gonna be a wash at the earlier part of this season.
  15. I didn't know junior clubs didn't have strict regiment for food and diet. that's really bad for the players no? glad that Jake is here then. a big part of being s pro is looking after your body and what your putting into your body. wow.
  16. I agree. I think it wouldn't be a bad thing for him to spend some time down in the AHL. learn the or game. he's doing that in the NHL. but the NHL is about winning games. not developing players. so as much as Benning says otherwise. at the end of the day they are in the business of winning. while leagues like the AHL are a little bit more emphasis on development of young players. I hate the rule where players under the age of 20 can't be in the AHL. that really sucks. would love for both Jake and Jared to have been down in the AHL this year. don't know if they would learn much more down in junior to be honest. but it feels like at times they're overmatched either physically or just via the pro game. I hope they do well. whichever way management goes in terms of their development.
  17. seasoning in the AHL. I understand the reason for management to keep him up here in the NHL. but I'm saying that he might start the season if he doesn't come into camp ready. might start in the AHL. and I personally wouldn't mind that. might be good for him to just play his game in a top six role if we are wanting him to develop into a top six player for this team.
  18. I think some seasoning may not be a bad thing for Jake. if he comes into camp next season right where he is currently. then yeah. maybe he needs to get some more time developing and playing in the AHL. I don't think that would be a bad thing and Green would help him develop both sides of his game. the offensive and defensive side of the puck. that only bodes well for Jake. the only reason he's with the NHL club this season is because I don't think Benning thinks being in junior would help Jake with his game. I'm not convinced that Jake hits his maximum potential. but if he hits 55-60 points a season and 20 m-25 goals. I think that's a win. if he ever hits 30 goals. we got ourselves a gem! we can only hope right. his hockey IQ seems to be the thing in question by many "experts". I guess we will see what kind of player he will develop into. I feel for him sometimes. he carries a huge weight on him especially being a local kid. being selected sixth overall doesn't help either.
  19. I was going to ask how he played last night against the Capitals. Glad to hear he had a solid game!
  20. Why not just sign an entry level contract with the Canucks? If he needs more seasoning, to be developed further in the AHL. I think with his skating, he might be fine on the Canucks blueline. It's going to be a thin one next season. I expect Pedan, Tryamkin, Hutton, Hammer, Sbisa, Tanev, Edler and a free agent signing or two on defense. I am praying that Bartowski and Weber aren't back.
  21. is he able to come over to the Canucks when his KHL season is done?
  22. Looks like Jake is playing on the fourth line today against Washington.
  23. must be a record. Almost an entire day! LOL.
  24. Boeser will be one hell of a player. Konency will be a good player in his own right for Philly. I think Boeser will be a Canuck in 1-2 years. Hopefully he signs soon!
  25. I'm hoping that Tryamkin comes over to Van next season. Not sure if he has an out clause to the NHL, though.
