  1. Let's hope the canucks win tomorrow.
  2. I think this series is over. Flames are beating us to a pulp physically. We don't seem to hold up defensively. 2nd line has gone AWOL. Can't seem to finish or bury our chances. IF Calgary wins tomorrow (which I expect them to do), this series is over. I cannot see 'Nux winning four straight to take this series. Well, it's a bonus that this team made a playoffs. I didn't expect them to win, or go very far (if even past the 1st round).
  3. flames fans can piss off.
  4. might be too much of a jump for horvat to be 2C. 3C next year, I can see.
  5. didn't see the game tonight. but was kenins that bad defensively?
  6. baertschi needs to get into this series. motivated player is a good thing in this series. canucks just lost it tonight in the third period. couldn't get out of their zone, and it cost them. i would also sit higgins. matthias has size, speed, and some offensive capabilities. higgins is good defensively, but replacing him with beartschi, who isn't a slouch defensively either. it's a better fit.
  7. sven sent down? that's disappointing. he showed well in the games he's played. wasn't a defensive liability. i hope the canucks aren't doing to sven what the flames did to him. would be a travesty. this move doesn't make sense either.
  8. vey isn't first line centre caliber.
  9. don't know where to post this. but i'm watching the jets-flames game (2nd period), and it dawned on me. these are two ex-atlanta franchises. the flames used to play in atlanta a long time ago, and we all know the jets used to be the thrashers in atlanta. wow. atlanta sucks as a hockey market. losing two hockey franchises? bettman better not go back there a third time. you know what they say. fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three times...well...
  10. if matthias wants to stay with the canucks. he'll have to take less. take less, and stay in a hockey city, or go where the money is at. he's probably gone, though. would be surprised to see him back with the Canucks, although, I like him as a player. he's good at wing, but his natural position is centre. how much better would be better deployed if given his natural playing position.
  11. a wasted roster spot in my opinion, if they called him up, and just sat him in the pressbox. he's far too a vaulable player to be sitting. i think baer will suit up against the flames in the first round. you have a motivated player wanting to prove another organization wrong for the way they handled him. he'll be motivated. i think he starts, but WD will have a short leash with baer. he's not bad defensively, and he can create offensive chances. that's what you want from a young player like him. i like kennins too. i think there's a way to keep both those players (for what they bring to the team - very different) in the line up. personally, i'd like to see matthias moved back to centre, and sit linden vey (not sure he can keep up with the physical play of the postseason..he plays like he's so small...). but knowing WD, he'll start vey regardless.
  12. i want baer to give it to the flames. hope he lights them up. i didn't get to see the game, but i'm encouraged by everyone else's comments about his game tonight. I know it's against Arizona, but last I checked, they're an NHL team with good players. hope he gets into a rhythm of some sort against the oilers on sat. when is the first game against the flames?
  13. Baertschi will be on the team next season. Clendenning will be also. If that means that Weber is gone, then so be it. I think Stanton stays, and Corrado is up full time with the big club as well.
  14. Sven's going to make it. I expect him to be in the line up for the last two games of the regular season. he's an offensive player. the team needs a player like this. and defensively not bad.
  15. Baertschi's gotta battle along the boards a little more than he does. if he does, that's improvement in his game. makes him a larger offensive threat. I like what Kenins, and Dorsett brings (physicality, strong forechecking, etc). Vey, although not considered small (average height, 5'11/6'), plays smaller than he is. he gets knocked off the puck way too often. he loses battles along the boards too often. and he's not that physical either. he doesn't produce very much offensively, and he sucks at winning draws. so how is this guy continue to be in the line up?
  16. I don't understand why Linden Vey has been given opportunities beyond belief. He hasn't been very good. I'd want Sven to be given time on the third line. At the very least with Horvat, but it didn't seem like he had too much chemistry with Bo in the last game (against the Jets). I hope Baertschi gets an opportunity over the last two games against one of the worst teams in the league against the 'Yotes and Oilers. Might give him some traction, if he has success against those teams, heading into the postseason.
  17. let's see how baertschi does tonight against LA.
  18. mcnally is what? 23 years old right now? i don't know how many more years he's got until he finishes school. but let's say it's another 1-2 years. he would be 24/25 years old, and probably need 1-2 seasons of AHL seasoning. which would bring him to 25/26 years old. that's a little old to be a prospect. and if he doesn't prove he can cut it, then he's probably not making it to the NHL.
  19. unfortunately. I have to agree with you. He's running out of opportunities to prove he can be a pro at the NHL level.
  20. would be interested to see what jake can do down in utica.
  21. don't know how jake will pan out. but as a canucks fan, i'm hoping obviously for the best. 6th pick is a high pick. and it's debatable whether virtanen was the best available player during that time of selection. if he doesn't pan out. probably a waste of a pick. BUT if he does...well, it's a high risk, high reward kind of scenario. i'm excited to see what he does at prospects camp as well as main camp. if he's ready, he'll stay. if not, then back to junior to continue to develop. he'll need to be good defensively, though, to make the NHL. if he doesn't show that, then it's back to junior for him.
  22. vey needs to go. thought he was invisible too.
  23. Baertschi with 3 penalties in this game. Since the beginning of the game, haven't really noticed him out there. Waiting for him to break through the game with an offensive opportunity. Not sure how this is going to be go with WD. I hope Sven's going to be given every opportunity to succeed in his call up. Defensively is ok. But makes you appreciate what Bo is really doing in the NHL defensively, and offensively as an NHL player, and rookie.
  24. I'd like for WD to at least give Markstrom a few games while he's up here, to see what he can do against NHL competition. Has he really made progress? Or is it just in the minors that he's doing well, and he isn't able to make the adjustments necessary for NHL success? The organization needs to find out. And doing this, would be the wise thing by WD.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Sedins when they were drafted, I believe, the biggest knock on them was their foot speed and acceleration. they're still not the fastest players on the ice, but they're smart out there. Gaunce is still young. i hope that he can develop quicker foot speed. but even if he doesn't, he's got solid hockey IQ, and he's not a small player (probably will be harder to knock off the puck). and it seems like he's got some room to grow in terms of his offensive game. Wondering why he hasn't been called up yet to the big club. Wonder if he'll get a chance this year.
