  1. We would need to get rid of Myers before something like that could happen.
  2. I'd be down for Foote, but only if he comes cheap, like really cheap.
  3. I fully expect Soucy to be overpaid by some idiot GM. It is silly season after all. If it's above 3M, like others are saying on here, then forget about it. What if it's 3.5M for 3 years? Would you do that?
  4. Yeah, I'd take a flyer on Foote if he comes cheap. The opportunity to work with his dad could be tempting to come here.
  5. That's a bad deal for Seattle for Soucy. He's not worth 4M at 4 years. Canucks should not go above that, so if he can't find anything better than that, then he's probably staying in Seattle.
  6. I would do that deal in a heart beat. But it depends what Sharangovich wants, and now since the OEL buyout, we have more cap space to actually make moves.
  7. a starter in the NHL? no way. that's quite a leap. he's not even a backup in the NHL.
  8. I like that if we could get 3OA from Columbus for our 1st and Demko, I might just also do that. Problem is, I think putting Silovs in net as starter would be foolish at this point. It wouldn't be putting him in a position to succeed. Who's going to be our starter in net if Demmer's gone?
  9. 27 years is still quite young for a goaltender isn't it? It's just that with Demko, his body hasn't been holding up very well the last few seasons. I'm not sure if that's indication of something that's coming (steeper decline physically?), or whether it's just a blip, because Demko can probably play a few more seasons at an elite level for the Canucks. Goalies also don't tend to bring back large hauls in trades, so there's also that.
  10. I'd like to see Silovs start the season in Abby. If he's trending well and performing well, then a few calls up, and if he handles those games at the NHL level well, then I say he probably deserves to replace Martin. Send Martin down to Abby - don't think we're going to lose him on waivers if he has to on there to get down.
  11. i think Silovs needs one more year in the AHL, and then backup as NHL in the 2024-25 season. If he trends well, full time starter by the time he's 24 years old.
  12. How are you so sure? He hasn't played a ton of NHL games
  13. problem is that we've been waiting for this to happen for a few years now, and it's never happened. He was closest in his second year. I'm not sure at this point if it'll ever happen, but I know he can be a 20+ goal scorer. He might hit 30 goals once, but I don't think he's ever going to be a consistent 30 goal scorer year after year.
  14. Glass is a complete bust. So is Nolan. Bad trades. Laff, if he can't get his game going soon, is going to head that way as well. He needs a fresh start, I think. Brock also needs a fresh start, though, I suspect he might just get one even if he's not traded.
  15. Québec City deserves a team. I know at the end of the day it's about the market size, and money, revenue, etc. But how legit would it be to have the Nordiques back in Québec City. Reignite that rivalry with the Canadiens!
  16. Oh man, those jerseys would have been horrible. stick with the original Nordiques logo.
  17. I find Brock to be a classic case of bounce back years. I'm willing to bet that he's going to have a bounce back year next season either with us or with another team.
  18. doesn't sound like a club or management that wants to add a player like Miller.
  19. Rangers used to buy their players and wins. They've almost never developed their players. It's like the Lakers now. All they do is buy superstars, and create a super team. I'd be down for a Brock for Laff swap. But almost certainly we're adding or taking on salary.
  20. both could use a change of scenery. but i get the sense that we'd have to add, or take on salary for Brock. is Laff younger and cheaper?
  21. unless it's the Vancouver Canucks, who always seems to, when it comes to the lottery balls, lose.
  22. I agree that eventually in the timeframe and timeline of a franchise, you eventually have to swing. if you miss, you miss. But what if you hit? It's going to be Vegas and Florida for the Cup. Who would have thought. Gross. I'm really not interested in watching these teams. But if I had to, I'd be cheering for f**king Florida. Vegas has been in the league, six years, and can you imagine if they won? And there are franchises in the league that have been around for 50 years (like us) and we still haven't won. The f**k. And don't get me going on how the NHL made Seattle and Vegas these upstart franchises, while the NBA handcuffed and made it extremely difficult for both the Grizz and Raps in the early 90's to thrive. Raptors survived because of corporate support and they made some shrewd moves, Grizz - well, we all know the story there. If the NBA at that time did what the NHL has done for their two newest franchises, I'm convinced Van still has NBA entertainment in this city.
