  1. Yeah, well, if he doesn't want to be here, then it's just not going to work out. Doesn't matter how much the organization wants him, if he doesn't want to be here, then you gotta trade him to get the best haul in return you can get for a guy who doesn't want to play for your franchise.
  2. I agree that if Miller is traded, but the assets aren't grade A assets coming back, then yes, it would set us back. At that point, you have to wonder if the rest of the core actually wants to stay here in Vancouver for another rebuild. I can't see Bo wanting that. Can't see Petey wanting that, or Demko, or Hughes. They want to win, and a rebuild isn't that. So management has to "retool" the current roster, and make them as competitive as possible and win as many games as possible, including the playoffs. How are they going to do that, if they resign Miller? That's not looking to medium to long term needs of the franchise. That's looking at short term only. And management needs to be looking not just at short term, but medium to long term plans as well. It's a hard gig, and Rutherford and Allvin have their work cut out for them. It'll be an interesting summer, and it'll be interesting how closely they communicate to their players, unlike Benning and his crew. When Benning was responsible here, it didn't seem like he communicated to his players very well, so nobody knew what was going on. Hoping that's different with Allvin and Rutherford at the helm here now.
  3. Yeah, but he’s not signing for 2-3 years. LOL
  4. Rutherford apparently doesn’t agree with you. I think of course management would want to keep Miller if they could. But maybe they can’t come to terms, and that’s just the reality that Miller’s camp and the Canucks are in. Team identity takes more than just one player. It takes a combination of the right kinds of players. So no, Miller himself doesn’t make team identity. It takes a collective group. Miller’s 30. Let’s not talk about this player as if he’s 23 years old and producing 100 point seasons. He’s at the backend of his career, not starting it.
  5. Can’t be sure, but it feels like Glass is Vancouver’s version of Virtanen (minus the character issues). I remember many fans (including myself) was holding out hope that he would make it, and he just never did. I can’t say for sure with Glass, but it kind of feels similar, where he’s young, but he’s not that young where if he’s a legit top six option, he would be starting to produce by now. Granted, players have different development curves, and Glass could be a late bloomer, that’s also very possible.
  6. Jury still out whether Glass will ever become a top six player in this league. He’s still relatively young, but time’s running out for him to prove if he can actually produce in a top six role.
  7. Yeah. I remember. I also remember that being under Benning and Weisbrod's management. There could be a change of posture with Rutherford and Allvin. I mean, this management group has already demonstrated that they're serious about winning than the previous group.
  8. Losing Petey? I think that's jumping to conclusions. A lot of the immediate to medium future will be tied to what management will do with Miller.
  9. Exactly this. Management needs to get this right for Miller. It either sets us back, or sets the franchise up for the next decade.
  10. he's a good player without a doubt. just his concussions scare me if the Canucks were to acquire him...
  11. Byram scares me with his concussion issues, even if he has been given a clean bill of health. He's so young to have a concussion already. And yes, Sid had one and came back and played. But everyone is different when it comes to this sort of head injury. Byram's a LD anyways, shouldn't we be looking for a player coming back this way who could ride shotgun with Hughes for the next decade?
  12. I like PLD's talent. He's a good player. A really good player. Unfortunately, what will probably give the organization a headache are his character issues. If he's traded here, I doubt he'll sign long term, and walk in 2024 anyways. Puts the team in an even $&!#tier position. So no. I don't want him on our team. If I were a guessing man, I think he lands in Montréal. If that's where he wants to go, by 2024, he's got every right to go there.
  13. Haha. At least you’re humble enough to admit it So many fans thinking that they know better than the professionals. LOL. They may not always make the right call or decisions, but that’s part of the human element in management and drafting.
  14. Glass looks like a bust. He’s close to that age where he is what he is. Petey at the same age has outproduced him massively. They’re similar ages, no? Man, where would this franchise be right now if we didn’t have Elias. I think Bo would’ve been traded already.
  15. This management team has their off-season cut out for them. I expect plenty of movement leading up to the draft, and a ton of signings (Bo, for example) post draft. This summer is a busy one, and this management doesn’t have any reasons to be lay low and sit back. They have a lot of work ahead of them. I’m not sure the team can afford to lose both Miller and Brock, that’s a lot of goals and offense gone unless Petey, and some other players step up their offensive game even more.
  16. Who says that management is giving Brock and JT away for free? The narrative that keeps coming up from management is that they don't want picks coming back, but young good players in return. So I expect if a trade is to be done, roster players coming back this way.
  17. I guess it's not surprising to hear that his agents are not surprised. They need to know what's going on, and they do, so that's not surprising.
  18. I mean, we've kind of known this for a while that Miller probably isn't sticking around, so this isn't entirely new...
  19. So statistically, they're quite similar. But is Brock worth the 7.5M QO, compared to what Forsberg would be asking on the open market?
  20. Hughes not going anywhere. He's the franchise defenseman this team has been looking for, in its entire existence. Why would you say he's one dimensional?
  21. Short term. Your right. But here’s hoping management has more than short term in their sights. They gotta be looking at medium to long term just as much.
  22. I'm not sure why some people are proposing to trade our top point producing player on the team, for Zacha. LMAO. That's a move that only Benning would make.
  23. All the news has been around Kuzmenko today, and rightfully so. Very exciting news that we finally won a sweepstakes. Seemed at one point that we were losing every NCAA free agent out there, always coming in second place. Finally, we've won first place. I'm now curious about how well he can play and contribute offensively. Is he a 40 to 50 point player? I would be over the moon if he produced 55-60 points in his first year. That would be amazing.
