  1. That's probably fair thing to say. But maybe the 10-15 other teams has more RHD high end prospects, because we literally don't have any. Does Jett Woo count?
  2. Yeah. Demmers is the key there, I think. We've had so many coaches come and go, that I don't think systems was the reason for the success. Demko's the neutralizer here. Without him, the goaltending was shit (sorry). With him, the team probably would've had a chance at a playoff spot had Demmers played the way he has since the start of the year (but we all know that he struggled early on as well).
  3. I'm not familiar with the names you mentioned (Simashev and Bonk), but any RD prospects, I'm game for. But I also think as every year, some team is going to go off the board with their pick, and a good player is going to fall down. This always happens every draft it seems. So I wouldn't be surprised if it happened this year as well. We need quality picks. I'm not confident in our amateur scouting....yet under Allvin and Rutherford. Is it better under them than it was under Benning?
  4. the team has definitely played much better since Bo's been traded, and since Tocchet and his staff has come in. Looks promising, but it won't mean anything, if this doesn't continue at the start of next season. These games are meaningless games at this point. I mean, I guess you could say it's a good way to create and build "momentum" for next season.
  5. management was crucified for making that deal too. lots of fans were angry at the draft capital that was included in a deal for Hronek. But can you complain now about how that deal is shaping up? It's still early, but the returns for Hronek are promising.
  6. Really? I mean, Miller's a good player before Tocchet (though as a centreman, it was debatable), but since Tocchet, he's turned his game around, and I was a harsh critic of JT. He has value as a player, but management only has the upper hand before his no trade kicks in, after that, they're at the mercy of the Miller camp of where he goes. So management better have a plan and a solid idea in terms of the direction they're going, or they'll be making mistakes this off-season, and that's something they cannot afford to do if the goal is to make the playoffs in the spring of 2024.
  7. I'd be fine if we moved those two out and replaced them with Barbashev's skill. Is it possible to move out Garland, and acquire Barbashev? I guess it depends on what he'll sign for during free agency.
  8. I'd say before the Hronek acquisition, it was. But acquiring Hronek has helped shore that up a little bit. Still lots of work to be done in terms of having quality young RHD in the system. We don't have enough of that, that's for sure.
  9. How could Malinski not want to come here simply for the opportunity? And how is it that this franchise has such a horrific time getting young RHD prospects to come here either by choosing not to draft them, or NCAA free prospects not wanting to come here. Willing to bet that we're going to strike out on Livingstone as well?
  10. Cap space is hard to acquire. And when they took the job, I don’t think they realize just how badly Benning handcuffed this team cap space wise with all of the deals he’s signed. And he signed some majorly bad ones that haunt the team to this day. So that’s going to take time to shed. Some of the player contracts just gotta wait out because nobody else is going to want them. And other players you can move but have to attach sweeteners to it. their patience for the most part has been understandable.
  11. Barbashev is a good player. But he doesn’t seem to fit the team. We have an abundance of wingers. Why do we need him? He doesn’t play Centre very often and I wonder if he plays it well?
  12. I think it depends on demand doesn’t it? If there’s a ton of teams that want his services then obviously the cost will rise.
  13. Garland could be a buyout candidate. He’s kind of a player that’s in no man’s land. Doesn’t kill penalties. Isn’t on the power play. Doesn’t produce as much offense. No other team in the league seems to be interested in him either or else I suspect he would’ve been traded already. Brock is kind of in the same boat except that at least he’s being used as a net front presence on PP1. I think they’re both gone this off-season. This off season I get the feeling is a major one for us.
  14. I think ideally Hughes deserves a high end RHD to play with. But those guys won’t be had for cheap and they generally won’t be acquired unless drafted. And the Canucks suck at drafting them. Hronek is a good start. But they don’t have any RHD prospects on the farm at the moment that is worth mentioning. Didn’t Juulsen play well with Hughes before he got hurt?
  15. Yeah. So waiting too long ain’t a good thing either. Gotta make a deal when there’s a deal to be made. Ottawa took advantage of Arizona’s stupidity with the way they handled Chychrun. The Sens got him for relatively cheap.
  16. I still think the Canucks will get a decent prospect from where they’re going to be picking. Reinbacher probably goes top 10. But this is supposed to be a deep draft right? So that means we’ll get a pretty good young player if the Canucks scouting department doesn’t screw up with their first selection.
  17. I think it’s pretty clear that the strategy for the Canucks is targeting and signing free agent players in Europe or From the NCAA. I’m hoping Canucks management can land Livingstone. But I’m not hopeful about that.
  18. So probably shouldn't expect too much for Livingstone.
  19. I like Gavrikov, I'm just not sure that we can afford him given our cap challenges. If he's as good as Tanev (being a defensive defenseman) that he'll probably be worth 6-7M for max term. Would definitely make us better for next season.
  20. I think if you trade Miller, you gotta get a young C back in return in a trade. You have to right? Or else like you say there's a massive hole behind Petey. Can't afford to do that entering into the season.
  21. Gavrikov wouldn't come cheap as a UFA. 6M over 6 years? Would you sign the guy to that kind of deal? And even if we could, where would the money come from? They'd have to be making moves, get another team to take on Brock, Garland even. Would OEL be a possible buy out candidate next year instead of this year? Like would that make a difference?
  22. it's been awfully quiet with Livingstone. No rumors out there with who he might sign with.
  23. I mean, the biggest issue heading into the offseason is 1. EP40 and his long term contract, and 2. OEL and how to get rid of that albatross contract with giving up yet another 1st round pick.
  24. You want to get rid of Schenn, but keep OEL? Schenn's been better than OEL this entire year prior to being traded.
