That makes a lot of sense. I guess the loss of a 1st still stings, but if people looked at it through the lens of a retool, then the trade makes sense. If fans are looking the trade through the lens of a rebuild, then this trade infuriates so many. Fans want a rebuild. Management is moving towards a retool. That's where some media and fans are upset. They're wanting one thing, and hoping that management will do what they want. But management is firm and hard on a retool. It is what it is. I'm looking forward to the moves that Allvin and management is probably looking to do. Miller and Brock on the move today?

[Rumour] Time's up! Finish your last sentence...

for Beau?? I don't think he fetches a 1st. A 2nd perhaps... -
right. good points. 1. I would say Kuzmenko and Hronek are skilled. the others on that list provided are question marks for me. Beau is decent, but I don't think he's on the same level skill wise as Kuzmenko. 2. We don't know. Kratsov is just starting to get some practices under his belt right? Räty is mostly with Abbotsford (not sure how long he will remain with the big club). Bear is decent and has been a decent fit onto the team. 3. I guess they all do 4. This one I think is the main talking point. Why is it overvalued?

It'll be interesting for sure. I'm not sure that Demko is going to be here long term. I think inevitably, he'll probably be traded, and room will be made for Silovs if he continues to trend in the right direction. I can see the team moving Demmers in the last year of his contract. That should give Silovs enough time to take the No. 1 position from Demko. Hronek is a good defenseman. I don't think anyone is really questioning that, and he's a natural RHD too. Something this team just has never been able to get a top pairing RHD for whatever reason. I think it's just the timing. A few days earlier, Allvin is making moves that would indicate that we're building for the future, and now today's trade would indicate that we're competing for the short term. Which one is it? I agree that any defenseman that we draft this year isn't going to make the team until 2-3 years down the road most likely (who knows, really, though with development). At that time, Hughes will be 25/26 years old, Petey will be 27/28 years old. Will Pettersson and Hughes want to remain at that time with the club? Because if those two guys go, it's a full on rebuild, whether management wants to admit it or not. These two are the players we're building around. Without them, this team is compete and utter trash.

I'm not sure if I would call those players "young". Kuzmenko is 26, Bear is 25, Beau is 25, Räty is 20 (he can be classified as young), Kratsov is 23 (youngish), Hronek is 24, soon to be 25. Out of all those players you've listed, only 3 on that list can be considered as young - Räty (20), Kratsov (23) and Bloom (19). None of those three are gaurantees to become NHL players, let alone productive players in the league.

I can understand why management made this move. You can't win with all youth, it just never happens in the NHL. Look at all the players that they've brought in so far. They're all , for the most part, in their mid-twenties (Kratsov - 23; Hronek - 24; Beauvillier - 25; Räty - 20; Bloom - 19). I think I'd be really angry if the Canucks traded their own 2023 1st. Then at that point, you just have to really wonder if Allvin has lost his marbles.
