[GDT] Around the NHL | March (20-26) 2022

The Kings v Blackhawks game is tough to watch...this commentary is painful and those f#%king ridiculous helmets the kings are wearing are appalling!!! Result is currently good though -
Now we could get into a massive debate and Im sure there are plenty of people from all over the world who could argue their point. But I will say being born in Van and then moving to Sydney Australia I much prefer sunshine and warm weather. Skiing or surfing? Surfing wins hands down thats why I love this great big land down under.

Maybe this is the reason he made that list in the first place as he didnt want to go anywhere with a high tax rate??? As a player it makes sense to try to get as much of your wages untaxed. I also appreciate the angle that you want to go to a contender to win the cup, so you would imagine the thought of Vegas, no taxes and a a cup contender is a great location...but alas the management doesnt seem to give a toss about players welfare....

I liked Richardson on his first go round with the team. I thought he was solid and does plenty of good things every game. He isnt going to win you games but he isnt part of the problem in losses. So I am comfortable with him drawing in for the remainder of the season. He was good today too. Dermott was quick enough to get to lose pucks and pick up his man, thats good. Lets hope he continues to be part of the solution and not the problem

Ha ha Booth. I havent thought about him in a while. Yep a very odd duck that one, loved to shoot stuff if I recall correctly. Just left me with an overall feeling of lethargy...wasted cap space, never brought enough to the game to make me want to root for him, just an all round disappointment for me. 100% the same as Loui Erriccson to be honest.

Ive got high hopes Lockwood comes in to fill this role next year. He is another high energy puck hound who likes to hit (even though he isn't huge in stature). I think he is a good fit. I also hope Jasek returns as he could also be another player to fill the hole left. Richardson is a stop gap this year, which should help in the dot and PK short term. Management has made a stand and said the bottom six can no longer eat up the cap. The bottom 2 defenders will also be bargain deals. Its the start of some direction for management, but I would appreciate if they gave us a better picture of what the future plans are. Hopefully by beginning of next season we have a clearer view?

Its interesting to note Dadonov gets paid $6.5 M next season with zero tax in Las Vegas, but if the trade goes through he gets taxed 12% on that 6.5M which is what $600k. Who would want to give away 600k for no reason and be out of the playoffs for this year. Dadonov gets totally screwed over with this deal. I cant see him wanting to waive this 10 team no trade clause. Maybe if it was to Florida/Tampa it would be ok Its ugly all round but a decision needs to be made asap

Who is running the show at the Kraken? Sending Appleton ( who has a particularly good set of wheels) back to Winnipeg for a 4th??? That is a terrible decision. Good money bet that 4th never plays a single NHL game. I just dont get the decision. The whole Expansion draft and now TDL deals are very strange.

Based on the last 5 periods this team does not deserve to be held together to be given a shot at the playoffs. It needs to be dismantled and re tooled. There is a lack of speed and the D just has no ability to make outlet passes or join on the rush. With the kings ransoms being paid this year the Canucks need to be selling for the future, yeah its gunna suck for the rest of this year and next year might suck too, but the haul that the team can get will help in the future for sure

I was going to say this very thing, I also believe its about thinking the game and moving rather than relying on what is happening and reacting to the situation. Great players make things happen and other players react to whats happening. Things are perceived to be faster when you control the narrative. If you are chasing loosely passed pucks or not in unison with your team mates everything slows down. So timing creates speed. So its not just about foot speed, although to have speed and think the game exceptionally well - then you get McDavid levels of skill, I think its a combination of all these things and its Bruce's job to get them all working together to create speed. In saying that I would very much like to see the 6 defenders all have the foot speed and passing ability to generate better outlet play for this team.

As a fan I dont think I could be any more P**sed Off than I am right now. Its like they forgot to show up again. The passing is awful, there is no jump. Its tough to watch. They played so well yesterday and forgot how to play today. They have 2 periods to turn it around but at the moment it doesnt feel good
