  1. I think it might be in the league and Bettmans best interest to allow the Penalty recapture for Luongo to be bought out. It gives them an option to back peddle with Webber. As it currently stands Nashville and Montreal to a lesser extent are in a whole world to SH!t if Webber retires. This would allow everyone to save face and not make a farce of this ridiculous situation. How on earth Nashville could possibly manage to find the money to pay $12M or $24 M for Webbers retirement without wiping out the team is anyones guess. Its a good opportunity to start with a clean slate and more level playing surface.
  2. I am just tired of seeing the Canucks goalies screened and the tips from in front are driving me nuts. I want to see someone clear the crease. Stetcher works hard but he cannot physically move those forwards from in front and if he takes up a position early he is more easily moved than someone like Myers. We need some more of our own immovable objects in front of the net. Some defenders with size and speed will really help the team. I just feel the team is too light at the moment with Stetcher and Hughes at one end of the size spectrum and Myers being the only one at the other end. The rest of the defence is not small but not monstrous either. Tryamkin just adds some serous height and weight which is exactly what this team needs.
  3. You need to be lightning quick to beat Vintage Congrats on 100k posts
  4. I know it doesnt really matter.... but who picked the 3 stars today? Do they watch hockey at all? Did they watch this game? Wow
  5. Quality response good sir...I tip my hat to you. Thanks for the good laugh
  6. If you look at Ottawa for next season they have 5 UFA forwards to sign or not sign, 5 RFA forwards to deal with, and im not sure if they get much of a pay increase. They have 2 UFA and 2 RFA defenders to sign (although Chabot gets a massive increase), unlikely to resign Anderson at $4.75M (he is 38 y/o). They lose Callahan, MacArthur and Hainsey off the IR and who knows what will happen with Bobby Ryan. They are going to need to spend some to get to the cap. I understand they may have a real go at building a team, they have lots of very good young players but are they quite ready? Heres my two cents... Eriksson after paying him a signing bonus next year of $3M, that leaves just $1M base salary for next year and $4M for year after ($5M wages with $12M cap hit.) surely thats got Eugene Melnyk salivating. You would think a deal could be brokered here??? Maybe they would actually be interested in Sutter as well as they need some "foundational players" to slot in with their young guys???
  7. Just some perspective here folks. I live in Sydney and we have not really been affected yet. Apart from some insane smoke that clouded the city for 60 odd days we really havent had it too bad. My suburb went up in flames on New Years Eve with an out of control bush fire. But the NSW fire service did an amazing job to keep the containment to bushland and no houses were threatened. But Sydney in general has been fire free. We are lucky and thats why we just get on with our daily routine and take time to enjoy what we can whilst we can. The people in the southern regions of NSW and Victoria have seen 60 odd days of terror. I cannot relate to that and my heart goes out to them and the courage they show on a daily basis to fight the fires and their emotions, their lives will be changed in so many ways, both good and bad. These tragedies have ways of bringing us Aussies together, this is the country where everything tries to kill you on a daily basis, and I think thats why we seem casual and relaxed or blasé. You just have to be like that or you would turn into a basket case. If you havent seen the images or videos it is mind blowing. It looks like an apocalypse. Its bloody Armageddon. Complete darkness in the middle of the day, with a red glow, very eire stuff. There were days when small coastal villages were cut off from the outside world and we had people sheltering on the beach ready to swim into the water for protection. We have had naval ships transport towns people by the 100's off the beaches as there is no road access. The scary part about this for the people in the fire zones is there is no relief in sight. The weather doesnt look like it will change and we are just at the beginning of the fire season. Thanks for the concern and appreciate people talking about whats going on down here.
  8. The last time the Canucks won a playoff series Sven Baertschi (13) was selected higher in the draft than JT Miller (15).

  10. I don't think the move bit the Canucks... but the head injury sure did! Whats worse the incident never even saw any punishment for the perpetrator. Its unfortunate for the team and Baer as I feel he would definitely be on the team if he didn't suffer the injury. The Canucks really do have some sort of curse, not sure why but it seems real. How do you explain Erikkssons dramatic cliff fall? Baers head injury? Manny's eye injury? Luc Burdon RIP? Twice losing in the SCF in game 7? Daniels concussion in the playoffs? The first draft roulette wheel loss? Never won the Stanley Cup? Baer is just another in a long line of unfortunate occurrences for the organisation.
  11. As stated Bear and Eriksson can play for the Canucks and the Luongo penalty is an utter joke...I know the Canucks signed the agreement and it is accepted by the organisation but it still doesn't make it any less of a kick in the nutsack for the Canucks. The whole thing makes me throw up in my mouth when I think about it. Retroactively penalising an organisation just doesnt sit well with me. Isnt the punishment for acting not in the spirit of the game??? Yet what the Leafs have done with the cap this year is okay??? Alrighty then, thats my ran over for the day....
  12. Maybe Brisebois is more important to Utica and management feels he is required on the blue line down there??? As a fan thats the way I see it.
  13. I just came on to check out the reactions and flaming regards the intermission panel. Wow... It's awesome to see some of your responses. What a douche!
  14. With the Leafs so far in the hole with their cap issues, and being the media darlings of the league...maybe there is a significant increase in the cap...like $10M....hmmm
  15. My feeling is Gaudette is 100% done...he will no longer yo yo between leagues. If the Canucks get healthy I could see him playing on a wing or centring a line. He offers so much dimension to this team at the moment. He is playing with speed and energy and is hungry to score, balance that with Sutter and Beagle defensively and its becoming a very solid all round team. Would be happy if he worked on his faceoff skills, that would really round out his overall game.
  16. Its very hard to watch a period like that. This dump and chase game is awful to watch. There just doesnt seem to be any big bodies to crush the defender. The Canucks look like they are just chasing the puck all over the ice. Its painful. The ice looks pretty ordinary too...lots of loose pucks and poor handling from both teams. I hope the third is more entertaining.
  17. It's an old fashion beat down!!! Im looking for positives... Someone help me out please
  18. From what I have read and listened to, Joulevi is doing just fine in Utica. He needs to play, play , play. Time on the ice and gaining confidence is the only priority for his development. You do that by playing big minutes in all areas of the game, PK, PP, 5 on 5. Not sitting on the bench in Vancouver. OJ is only going to get that in Utica. We forget he is still only 21 years old. There is a league full of defenders playing into their late 30's, no need to rush him early this season as there is a whole career still in front of him. For anyone that has played sport at any level, you will know that being confident that your body will do what you ask of it in any given situation is crucial. If you dont trust your body you tend to do un natural things and thats when you dont perform at your peak. OJ has to learn to be confident again and that is happening right now in Utica. He was selected because he showed he can do those things in juniors. With some more time and confidence he will do them again ( he has already started to in Utica).
  19. Its a no brainer for me Burrows is my last name, I was born on the 14th and Alex Burrows is a freakin work horse. Tenacious, determined and 100% backed himself to get to the big show and when he did he did not disappoint. The fact he would bleed for the team, be its leading goal scorer one season and still stay humble makes me admire him more. Honourable mention Gino. Wow what a beast! Fun to watch, the opposing teams must have really been concerned on some nights.
