2018-19 Utica Comets Thread
canuckpuckluck1 replied to stonecoldstevebernier's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Nearly a mirror image of the Canucks today, although they were on the wrong side of the scoreline. Its interesting how perception works. The Comets result was gutsy and well done, whilst the Canucks result is a little deflating. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
canuckpuckluck1 replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Way to early to make heads or tails of who is going where, but if the Canucks pick 3-7 do they take best Defender available or BPA? They do need to get another first pairing defender (with size) to round out the D corps, but another first line centre would be perfect, tough call this year. Im really interested in what is going to happen at the draft this year. I am praying its the final top 10 pick they make in a long while (barring a trade pick up) -
Please help me try to understand....i just don't get it! Why is everyone so keen to see him suit up for the big club? So many people on these forums are so quick to bitch and moan he was the wrong pick.... The Canucks don't need immediate help , lets be honest the defence is somewhat of a tire fire. If you throw kids just learning their craft into that mess and expect Norris candidates to rise out of the ashes you are deluded. If those same prospects fail then the horrible word BUST starts getting thrown around. Its my opinion that OJ has been given every opportunity to learn how to be an NHL player by the Canucks management, and if it takes 1 or even 2 more years before he plays for the Canucks then its what is required for him to be the best player he can possible be.

Nota slight on your projection but is that the most expensive 4th line in NHL history? $12M fourth line....wow hope it puts up some points.

Having seen neither of them play an NHL game i can tell you Dahlin is Swedish and Hughes is American. Now any American will tell you its the greatest nation on earth and Americans are simply the best at everything so Hughes must be a better player right???

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread

Do you think it would be at all possible if A. Grenier was brought back by the Comets ? I am sure they would welcome D.Archibald back with open arms if he doesnt get a Canucks contract. Although both being wingers does that cause a log jam for the younger guys? -
Ill have another stab at it Prince Phillip Dick Van Dyke Doris Day Billy Graham George HW Bush Olivia de Havilland Queen Elizabeth Stan Lee Angela Lansbury Bob Newhart Kirk Douglas Norman Lloyd Stephen Hawking Betty white Larry King Devin Lima Carol Channing Beverly Cleary Leah Bracknell Linda Nolan

Are we watching the same games???? Gudbranson is so solid at the back end. He is monstering the opposition forwards. Without his wieght the Canucks could possibly be pushed around and find themselves struggling this year. He is playing a totally different game than Biega. In saying that I personally have been delighted with Biegas game its so full of energy, but to not have Gudbranson back there would be a horrible mistake for the Canucks

Homebrew you are definitely in the wrong place....this is CDC. Stop showing off and start some ridiculous thread about trading Eriksson and a bag of pucks for Stamkos otherwise you may just get banned.

I may be missing the point but put yourself in his partners shoes. She isnt comfortable in North America...probably struggles with the language, maybe she isnt used to all the hype and media and was completely alone. Her only confidant was Nikita. He has to think about her well being too. The option to return to Russia and make more than enough money for both of them to live well was possibly to good to refuse. Thats the way it just may be??? In a year or two maybe his partner does some language courses at home and gets more confidence? Maybe they both grow up a little more and they decide to return??? Who knows? I think his game time and deployment for the Canucks was a low factor on his decision to return to the KHL. Again like everyone else my theory is pure speculation!

This is a legit question from someone who hasnt played the game. Can you teach someone to skate? I mean creating this explosive speed we are discussing? I know Horvat has improved and looks awesome on the ice. Is he an exception to the rule or can it be learned from dedication and hard work? It seems to me it would be a skill that could be improved with hard work as opposed to reading the game which you either have or do not! If it can be learned then Gadjovich looks like a handy pick. I did notice he fought the puck a few times in transition which I am sure the Canucks staff will have noticed. Its that first touch which is crucial, it allows the player to get into stride faster. If you watch McDavid his first touch at speed is amazing and his head is up, which allows him to get into position to make any play.

Good post just interested in why you think Hutton and Sutter will be traded? I personally dont see it, but interested to hear your take on that.

This kids career has been disastrous. Did a gypsy put a curse on him? It's so disappointing to see a talented kid not get a chance to show what he's got. I hope he gets a shot this year and injuries are a thing of the past.

I really like that pick of J Norris for San Jose. I think the kid has the work ethic and attitude to be a leader and a guy you just need on a winning team -

If that was the case and I was JB i'd tell Dallas to suck my left nut and call back with a sensible proposal! -

I tend to agree with your point of view. I would be most disappointed if Tanev was traded and the Canucks didnt get a good return. What I was trying to get across was my dislike for posters to who say "this will never happen" as if they know something for a fact. It is a crazy game and there are some even crazier people running the show and some head scratching decisions are made every day. Never say never -

Im not trying to pick a fight here, but did you, even in your wildest imagination think Hall would be traded for Larson? Im not comparing the situation, I am just merely pointing out some abstract trades are possible. It just means a need has to be there. I dont profess to know the needs of any of those teams. Sometimes its less about a players perceived value and the opposing teams needs. -

I was all over Ehlers at the time (wow that sounds a bit creepy) and still think he is probably the best pick in the draft, but JB made his choice and has to make it work. Whether Virtanen becomes a great player of gets traded for another needed player only time will tell. I am super confident JB has learned a thing or two since then and will make sure he drafts better for Canucks needs without discounting the skill factor. BTW I am very concerned about Makar, I hope he doesnt go that route. -

Anyone have a take on Josh Norris, seemed like he performed well at the combine. Would he be a good pick at #55 ?
