[Signing] Senators re-sign Erik Brannstrom
canuckpuckluck1 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I really think the 6x6 contract (arguably the worst $ for output contract ever signed in Canucks history) for Loui E really hamstrung the management team. That was a rough 5 years. Then you pile on the 3x3 contracts and we all saw the results...just a really poorly constructed team. The last 10 years has been sad. On a good note I am so pumped for this year. When does Hockey start? Im ready now -
This is why im an advocate for D heavy draft selections, the more D men selected and then maturing in the system, better for the team in the long run.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

Here are the points totals from last season. I looked at the contract dollars for all these players. Only Kyle Connor, Nathan McKinnon, Nazeem Kadri and Kevin Fiala ( only a minor difference in cap hit) are on cheaper deals. Good players deserve a decent pay. Miller is a good player! I noticed in the video when the team is doing the Grouse Grind and there is a shot of Daniel and Henrik they are completely synchronised as they climb. Still one and the same as they were n the ice. Just something i picked up as i watched. -

Please for the love of god can we NOT be in on the Bedard sweepstakes with our own pick. I am tired of not seeing play off games. I just want to see another improved season. No more regression, Im too old and too tired for it!!!

[Signing] Kraken re-sign Ryan Donato
canuckpuckluck1 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That has very little to do with the market and more the skill of the GM making signings. Some are good negotiators and some not so much. There are also a lot of other factors but I couldnt resist taking a shot at this one! -
[Signing] Panthers re-sign Matthew Tkachuk
canuckpuckluck1 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Just wondering if they could trade for an LTIR contract and use that to give them space? Would Ferlands contract (or one like that) be a way to get compliant? If I read it correctly Ferland would cost them $2.75M in real dollars but get them $3.5M in LTIR cap space. Is this a possible move for them rather than trading out actual players? -
Score update Please let me know if I have missed anyone on your list. Its been a rather "healthy" year which is great. Note, I am working off a spreadsheet I created, so if I have missed anything please advise. Canucks 2022 Development Camp
canuckpuckluck1 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Prospects / Farm Team
It infuriates me the lack of foresight to invest heavily into player development. The insane amount of money spent on UFAs to fill bottom six roles is maddening. These are the roles that should be filled with players developed in house from the plethora of draft picks and free agency ( non drafted/college kids ) available every year. Focus on bringing these players through the system to fill the void. They come in on ELC money play the right way and , gain experience and either go on as a Canuck for many years or are flipped for more picks. The many years the Canucks have not had full control of their prospects or have neglected to nurture them has bitten the club in the ass!!! Please tell me its over? -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
canuckpuckluck1 replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I dont like this idea at all. PK Subban 8 years ago maybe but not today. The Canucks need players who can defend, no liabilities on the back end. They already have offensive weapons in Hughes and OEL ( Rathbone potentially too) but without Myers who will clear the crease, play 25 mins a night and be a defensive deterrent? -
I would like to see what a line of Podkolzin, Horvat and Mikheyev looks like together. Fast strong on the puck and on the boards. I think that would be a nightmare to play against!!! Fun times ahead for Canucks fans thats for sure
-
@Provost no love for Podkolzin????
-
@Warhippy just wondering why you think we will lose a skilled player? Are you suggesting there will be a loss of a player in waivers? As far as I see things the Canucks can paper/send down Kuzmenko, Hoglander, and Podkolzin without waiver issues and I doubt Poolman, Dowling or Keeper would be lost on waivers anyway. ( I suspect Dickinson might get claimed even though he cops a lot of flak on here ) so i doubt he gets waived. Therefore I cant see any issues currently to be cap compliant when season starts. Anyways still a lot of deckchairs to be moved around before this ship sets sail.

[Signing] Lightning sign Haydn Fleury
canuckpuckluck1 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think the Canucks should have been in on this one. Not a lot of points but +/- is good at all levels. Solid bottom pairing at a good price -
Good thing is I don't have to get another name on my jersey if he makes the big team
-
Ha ha ha classic pick
-
I am really hoping for a trade down now to get more picks
-
I am a bargain bin shopper. If I can get something for a discounted price im all in. Miroshnichenko at 15 is a bargain that comes with risk but I am happy to take that chance. Top 5 potential, sounds good to me Other than that Im happy for any of the following Dman Pickering, Minty, Bischel

Fair call, speculating on someone who hasn't had a chance to prove themselves is totally unfair. I really am exciting to see him get his shot in the league. -

@vancan2233 fair call. My reservations and reason for my comment is based in optics alone. I just see so many more players in the NHL playing with more speed and the defenders just eat them up or the goalies offer more resistance. I dont know how his game will translate. I honestly hope he makes my comments sound ridiculous.
