  1. Deb the bolded part in a nutshell. I never meant my comments to be negative. I am hoping he is a complete player. I just commented as to what I saw and I personally am still unsure on what type of player he is. All the dangles and leaving the keeper stranded probably wont happen in the NHL.
  2. Maybe i am not a good judge/scout but his skating and edge work as far as top speed doesn't scream out high end to me. Great hands and very keen to beat defenders,, holds the puck well and looks for options but the skating is a concern. As I said maybe I am seeing it differently or a poor judge... I hope he proves me wrong. I along with many others will be cheering him on
  3. I think you nailed it with the Bellyache statement. I used to think it was Cam Smith steering those forwards around, but I now realise its all down to the coach. He is a genius in identifying players that are unwanted at other clubs and he makes them into superstars that only know how to win. A coaches ability to get the very best out of each and every player every game is invaluable. Boudreau struck me as this type of coach. He just needs to get the full systems in place this year and then get the players to leave it all on the ice for him like they did last year. It would be enormous for the Canucks organisation if they were able to raise the profile and desirability of a number of their players. Miller is a prime example, as much as I think the Canucks need him now I think they need to cash in him and get some solid future options. If the Canucks can build a stable of young players that can slot in, build up their profile and get turned over for more futures it will really give them a chance to compete for the cup. Look at the stable Colorado is building.
  4. I'd take Lammikko, Highmore, Dickenson and Chiasson over Lazar. Does he move the needle enough to make this team any better? This management can no longer accept mediocrity just to fill spots. If a player doesnt make the team better every shift then dont sign them. We have to get better
  5. Not trying to be obtuse but why does Boeser need to be expendable. Imagine if Brock really finds his game this year and puts away 30+ goals and this kid can find the net consistently, wouldn't that just be awesome for the team?
  6. What about sticking up for himself like this, he is just fine for one so young. Senney laid down like a baby when Klimovich came at him. Thats a very powerful young man who will only get more confident this year, such a transition from Europe to Canada and the language barrier are large hurdles and it seems he is dealing with it all very well. I am hoping he becomes everything he projects to be. A nasty to play against power forward who can score. I would suspect he wouldnt give two hoots about the playoffs (thats the past and the future holds so much for him)
  7. You are probably correct...but where is this guy? We could certainly use more of that! PS Love the hit from Burroughs at the beginning of the play, lets see more of that this season please!!!
  8. If you were to offer a potential top 4 D man with size at 15 the Canucks would be mad to pass that up. Honestly I for one would be happy to see all D men drafted for the next few drafts, basically just build a stable full of d men. We look at LA with envy, as they have a number of potentially good defensemen or look at what has poured through Nashville's system over the last decade. I would like to see the Canucks focus on defence, they have the net covered in Demko and Martin with Silovs and MDP coming along. There is some young puck movers in Hughes and Rathbone and now if they could fill out the rest of the D with size, strength , IQ and mobility.
  9. I think its broken....the Canucks never moved from 15th. I tried it a number of times, Whats up with that?
  10. That was a thing of beauty from Ottinger. Wow next level save to keep your team in the game. Flames charging hard but if Dallas can weather the storm its game on
  11. My favourite part about this is the 2014 draft where they picked Mason Mcdonald 2 picks before Thatcher Demko that is pure gold !!!!
  12. Ingram take a bow...that was awesome. Is the shot on the two man advantage that hit the post going to haunt the Preds?
  13. The Canucks missing the playoffs was very disappointing but seeing the VGK miss was delightful...now if the Leafs get bounced in the first round I will be tickled pink! Please not a 3 peat by Tampa. Hopefully we see one of the overall very good teams win it. On season performance Avs vs Panthers final would be fitting.
  14. Lets hope he does...Abby is on an absolute tear at the moment. The team is finding ways to win and with the squad trickling back to full strength there seems to be a team first attitude to winning. Rathbone has been monumental in building pressure from the backend. Very exciting for all those players. PS I get the joke, well done!
  15. Sweaty palms, racing heart, feel sick in the stomach...I haven't felt like this since my high school dance
  16. Anyone not liking the Highmore /Gaudette trade? The little energiser bunny was everywhere in the 1st period. So much to like about his effort levels. That line of Lammy, Highmore and Lockwood looks bloody good. Its priced just right cap wise and gets it done. Podkolzin just gets better each time he steps on the ice....wow...I'm loving it!!!!
  17. I'd say thats the end of the Jets chances this year. One less to be concerned about. It's a shame they can't give us any out of town help on the run home.
  18. In the last two weeks Podkolzins game has come on so amazingly well. You can see the difference, its like night and day. His stats do't scream out at you, but just watching his in game play makes you giddy as a fan. This kids potential to change the course of a game is on show. The Canucks have some real game breakers in this team Demko, Miller, Horvat, Hughes, Podkolzin and Pettersen can shift the momentum of the game at any given time and the fact they are all (except Miller/Horvat) not even in their prime. 4 or 5 more pieces and some time to mature and this team is a serious playoff threat
  19. Last game of the season when we sneak into the playoffs @DeNiro
  20. You’ve won five in a row, but it doesn’t mean $&!# if you don’t continue on this wave.
  21. Every time the Canucks win it applies more out of town pressure...the question is who folds first? Which ever teams fill the wildcard positions and 3rd place in our division will have to earn it. No easy rides
