  1. Summary: ‘Um’ 3 cliches ‘um’ ‘this was a top 5 team for me (really?)’ ’um’ 2 generic platitudes avoid mentioning money ’um’
  2. Yes, not sure if that was implied, or just an assumption. Either way, hope we trade or resign him soon, so he can get settled before his new baby arrives.
  3. The vacant C will also allow leaders to emerge naturally under our new coaching staff
  4. Perfect. Introduce our future leaders, and (hopefully) get the most from our highest paid vets.
  5. Will be interesting to watch Beau tomorrow night. hope he and Joshua make the most of their top 6 minutes. If it fails, there’s always Bedard
  6. Wonder if there are any former players coached by our new staff, that may become acquisition targets? for example, anyone on the Russian national team that played under Gonchar
  7. Not to my knowledge. Seems like Lou was just being cheeky, but I can’t wait for some reporter to ask Bo for a reaction to that statement, lol.
  8. Hmm… those middle six lines lack a discernible identity to me. If we’re trying to get Garly and Boeser going, why spread our offence out over 3 lines? Are Pods and Joshua the defensive conscience on their respective lines?
  9. At even money and term I prefer Miller’s assists and fire, over Horvat’s face offs and even PR presence. Given the extra term and dollars, there is no question for me that we kept the right top 6 player.
  10. Agree, and support Petey as C. His effort and even physicality have been more consistent than Bo’s this year, so that aspect of leadership by example is there.
  11. I prefer 4 Alternates v giving Petey the C this year. Give him and Hughes the A for a year or two to ease them into it. No need to be the face of a tanking franchise in a hockey-mad market. re-assess next year, or even the one after
  12. Not sure what Bo was like in the room, and guess none of us fans will know for sure. Bieksa mentioned something about how the Sedin's quiet leadership culture was passed on to Bo. Personally, Id rather have a more vocal Captain. The odd misstep is preferable to repeating the same sound bytes with a flat affect, saying ‘obviously’ every third word, while looking emotionally dead inside.
  13. Bo is a better fit in NYI if Barzal is on his wing, no doubt. It’s a great stylistic compliment that should materialize. That said, he’ll also be drawing the opposing teams’ top d pair and checking lines.
  14. The Eastern conference arms race will be interesting at the TDL. I think Bo and Barzal will flourish, but NYI will have stiff competition to make the playoffs
  15. Objectively, Miller gave us a 99 point season last year, that was easily double his contract value, only to fall short of the playoffs. In September, he resigned long term (one year sooner than he had to) with the intention of building on last season and making the playoffs (he hates losing). One month later, we get off to a terrible start, and our Captain holds out on an extension while suddenly doubling his scoring, as the team is losing, and the GM no longer endorses the coach. He watches the Captain give emotionally flat interviews, saying ‘this is unacceptable,’ but not leading the team to turn it around. I could see the BB situation AND Horvat being a big part of his frustration this year. He’s already looked better defensively under RT, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he steps up even more now that Bo is gone.
