  1. I fully get that Beauvillier was a throw in / cap move for NYI, but I look forward to cheering for him as an underdog to turn it around. Even if the fresh start doesn’t motivate him, next season he’ll be working for his next contract.
  2. Also, impressed how NHL ready he appears with a late birthday to boot. Even if he marinates in Abby until next season, we’ll get 2 years of ELC…
  3. Here’s a report on Raty from a piece last year on NYI top prospects. The ‘ready to learn’ and ‘student of the game’ attributes are very promising. Love that we’re starting him in the A. Imagine what he can learn from Henrik as he develops chemistry with Hoglander and Podkolzin, building confidence without pressure / media spotlight… Aatu Räty Aatu Räty leads the prospect pool. The second-round pick from 2021 had a wildly impressive season in Finland. The young center finished in the top 20 for scoring in the Finnish league and lead the line offensively for Jukurit who finished second in the regular season. He's already made his debut in the AHL. He's played two games and showed us some of his high-end skills already. He's still got things to learn but this kid is an absolute student of the game. His Jukurit coach, former Islanders player Olli Jokinen, spoke specifically about how Räty always came to the rink ready to learn. Räty may have fallen far at the 2021 draft, but he was once considered a possible no.1 pick for a reason. He's got a ton of talent. And at 19-years-old he's already ready to play a North American game. The 2022 season could very well show us he's much closer to the NHL than we think.
  4. Not sure who’s traded next, but this should be an interesting deadline. Guessing some moves will happen in the off-season. hope the media keeps asking JRPA about their vision / identity they want to build We’re definitely getting younger, and I’ve heard them say we want to be “a tough team to play against.” Figure that’s why Myers dummied Beniers.
  5. Okay, so not just me. They’re usually pretty blunt and share (if anything) more than you’d expect. Last time Allvin was bluffing (when asked about Horvat before the trade), he said ‘we’ll see what happens here.” So now when he’s vague, I assume something is in the works.
  6. Allvin was a little cagey when asked about Demko after the Columbus game. He started saying the All Star Break would be good for players to get rest, then landed on 3 weeks as when he expected Demko to return. Wonder what’s going on there, as he seemed to be biding time with that response, could just be related to the injury, but who knows
  7. PA was pretty direct on making more moves in the upcoming weeks. We can retroactively move Demko and Pearson to LTIR and exceed the cap this year by close to $10M. Wonder if we’ll leverage this cap space to load up on assets. We could be a third team retaining salary on expiring UFA’s at the deadline.
  8. Wonder what impact this trade has on our current roster. If our locker room was divided at all, who’s happy and who’s upset that Bo is gone?
  9. It appears that way, and I’m glad management held the line and traded him. It sends a message to other players’ agents going forward
  10. If he signs for $8M or more with NYI, we can abandon the narrative that he wants to win a cup. As has been mentioned, they are aging out, stellar goaltending is keeping them on the playoff bubble, and we just acquired their best prospect.
  11. Speaking of…Phil diG, Pederson and Horvat out, Beauvillier in. We still have 2 spots cleared for?
  12. Does Vegas need a goalie? Something around Kaedan Korczak perhaps?
  13. I don’t think he’s allowed to call it a rebuild, it’s in his contract. Will be interested to see if the early Bo trade opens a long window on a secondary market for Miller. If not, could be good to have a vet or two throughout our young lineup. Take some pressure off a new young Captain, perhaps.
  14. Allvin is doing everything you’d want in a tank: - says everyone is available, less Petey - we’re keeping our picks - trade our best scorer early - let the new prospect start on the farm - acquire a 1st - says this season isn’t about wins or losses anymore - indicates more trades are coming - assign a new Captain If you’re on Team Tank…
  15. Disagree. We got the highest 1st we likely could have, their best prospect, and a serviceable NHLer to make the cap work. Don’t stress Beauvillier, it could have been Bailey.
  16. Hoglander Raty Podkolzin - potentially our future 3rd or 2nd line? Either way, instant inductees to the all name team.
  17. Quadrielli and Faber are really difficult to listen to on their podcast. Appreciate Fabers committment to prospects, but ‘dawg ratings’ are not going to catch on, and Quads’ writing style in the ‘statsies’ is too much for this 20 year Canucks fan.
  18. Yeah, doesn’t add up: Allvin said they spoke before the Chicago game, so…
