  1. Interesting take, @Gurn. To me was pretty far from sunshine and lollipops….lots of talk about his personal life and what a sh!tshow Vancouver was last year, and how annoying some of the media is. Also, no player has let their play talk more than JT. Instead of replying to criticism about his defensive play last year, he turned his play around, and killed it in face offs in a matchup role.
  2. The interviewers weren’t amazing, but it was cool to hear how sincerely he wants to play here, believes in the team, and values playoffs over individual success. The more I hear him speak, the more I appreciate him. One of the most durable, consistently productive power forwards in the league.
  3. It’s been a frustrating stretch as a Canucks fan, no doubt. IMHO, the farther you go back on our teams’s history, the less relevant or predictive that information is for next season. This seems especially true when looking back on previous management groups, that had a different motivations, vision, strategy, strengths, blindspots, etc. For me, this core is worth investing in, and has a chance to make noise in the playoffs in the next 3 years, with the right support. From management, the single improvement that gives me the most hope is the focus and investment in development, both in the NHL, and the AHL. As for team culture, the remaining team leadership group are consistently, and internally, motivated to improve their individual games. They also put the team first over individual success. That seems like the basis of a strong culture moving forward.
  4. All good points. They are definitely rebuilding / going for Celebrini, so the ask probably starts with picks and prospects.
  5. solid proposal, well done. Love the idea of trading a redundant skilled winger for a big, solid bottom 6 PKer on a less efficient contract. Nashville lost significant offence, and one year of Beau takes a little pressure off their youth (e.g. Evangelista) while not blocking their path.
  6. Yep, I’m still interested him as a potential partner for Hughes for the next 2 years. Size, PK ability, and another Czech for Hronek. Perhaps SJ is still interested in Myers. Wonder what they’d ask for Rutta and Sturm?
  7. Also speaking to Grier about the Karlsson trade, Greg Wyshynski of ESPN reports there were actually two other teams down to the wire in the trade negotiations. For weeks now, all signs had pointed to Pittsburgh as the eventual landing spot for Karlsson, with the Hurricanes, Seattle Kraken, and Toronto Maple Leafs having noted interest as well. Grier would not indicate which teams specifically, but it is an interesting factoid at the very least. interesting…wonder which two teams, and how that mat impact the market for dmen going forward…
  8. Yeah, hence the ‘something around’ Maybe take a break from trying to correct other members on here. It’s getting tiresome.
  9. Well…got the 3rd team wrong, but many of the players actually dealt were the same
  10. Glad we didn’t do that…I’d rather have Myers until the TDL vs another smallish ~5M inconsistent winger who doesn’t PK. Thought there was some element of Myers filling a RD void left by Karlsson. They could also be interested in flipping him at the deadline for a pick, to support their rebuild
  11. Thanks for bringing this up….we are more than the sum of our parts, which is why we play the games vs. just comparing rosters. We have a new voice, new systems, and new leadership group.
  12. Likewise. Sounds like he can carry a pair, with a decent partner. Many are penciling him in to play with Soucy, but I’m curious to see what he looks like with Cole.
