[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
Ted Lasso replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Agreed. Not sure if he’d want to hedge with a shorter contract though -
[Waivers] Alex Galchenyuk

Possible he has some recent allegations against him that the team wants to distance themselves from. -
[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
Ted Lasso replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Agreed. September seems likely though….wait as long as possible for other contracts to be signed (to set precedence) without risking an injury (or step back in production) once the season starts. Negotiating from his career 100pt season is his incentive to close the deal before next season. -
(Proposal) Vancouver – Nashville

Interesting target, who looks like more of an emerging top 6C. -
[proposal] Vancouver - Buffalo
Ted Lasso replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Not sure if the Athletic reporter who covers the Sabres is any good, but he listed an experienced winger as their biggest remaining need: With the injury to Jack Quinn, the Sabres could have used another experienced forward to round out the forward depth chart. They have some younger prospects who could jump in, like Jiri Kulich and Matt Savoie, but finding one more experienced player on the wing would have been a bonus. — Matthew Fairburn -
[proposal] Vancouver - Buffalo

Beau might be more appealing, and narrows the cap differential. I’d do that as well. -
To Buffalo: Connor Garland To Vancouver: Ilya Lybushkin - 6’2” 201 lbs, 29 y/o RD, one year left at $2.75M SCOUTING REPORT The Russian defenseman is at his best when he keeps things simple and does not try to do too much offensively; he has never been much of a point producer at any level of his hockey career. He is a physical presence on the blueline and will be even more effective as he continues to get accustomed to the smaller ice surfaces in North America. Long Range Potential: Defensive defenseman. from 2022 Maple Leafs Hot Stove: Lyubushkin is…a fine skater. However, you shouldn’t expect much from him offensively, as he has just one goal and 18 assists in 180 career games. He needs to play with a strong puck mover, but he’s used to matching up against opposing top lines and has graded out quite well defensively by Evolving Hockey’s RAPM in three straight seasons. The modern game is too fast for the physical defenseman who can’t skate, but I see Lyubushkin as a fine transition defender; he reminds me a bit of Zach Bogosian. Lyubushkin is a zero offensively, but his relative-to-teammate metrics have typically been strong in terms of suppressing shot quality in a tough environment in which to thrive defensively on mostly weak Arizona teams. He led Arizona defensemen with 96 hits and is top 30 in the NHL among defensemen (min. 30 games played) in hits thrown per 60 this season. Some highlights: Why does Buffalo do this? With the injury to Jack Quinn, the Sabres could have used another experienced forward to round out the forward depth chart. They have some younger prospects who could jump in, like Jiri Kulich and Matt Savoie, but finding one more experienced player on the wing would have been a bonus. — Matthew Fairburn They also appear to have great depth at RD: If he fits well with Hughes, it allows Soucy and Cole to play farther down, and on their natural sides: Hughes Lyubushkin Cole Hronek Soucy Myers We get harder to play against, while saving $2.2M, allowing us revisit Suter, or other minor changes to the bottom six. What do you think?

[discussion] potential trade partners for a winger

Also, as much as I’m on board with trading Myers, I still think we need to offload 1-2 wingers -

I was interested in Foote also, but someone reported the Canucks would avoid putting him the awkward spot of being the coaches son -
[Signing] Kraken re-sign Will Borgen

Ah yes, that makes sense. Cheers -
For 11, Willander was my choice, then Simashev, then Danielson. My reasoning was best value available, with positions absolutely factoring in. I’m confident several of the forwards taken after these three will put up a lot of points, and also have great value, just less predictably. Happy to see us take a couple D with our 3rds. The overages picks with our 4ths we’re disappointing, so hoping I just don’t get it yet. Happy with Celebrini, as a local pick from a seemingly great family.

Interesting third line…I like it

His defence against breakaways is excellent. Can remember half a dozen times he used his speed to catch an opponent 1-0 and disarm them without taking a penalty

Agreed. Would be great to see him post about explosiveness training

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Nils Hoglander to 2 year $1.1M
Ted Lasso replied to Odd.'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah, but it keeps his cap hit low this year, which is the biggest pinch. It’s a trade off. If he doesn’t breakout right away / takes a couple years to ramp up, we can possible sign him for value/term on his next deal. Honestly that’s the most likely scenario anyways. -

If Garland’s $17M+ contract is a bridge too far, wonder if Beauvillier would work in a package like that… -

What are the chances he’s included as part of a trade now that he’s signed? -

Hope you’re right. There are 8-9 teams that need a scoring winger, with Tarasenko/Kane as the only big name UFA’s left. Maybe we can find a trade for a bottom 6 winger that opens enough cap to add Suter as well. -

He has the potential to become a physical, scoring pest that gets opponents off their game -
