  1. Love the credibility Foote & Gonchar bring. Now we’re giving them the personnel to mentor.
  2. Pearson was “preparing for training camp.” Doesn’t mean he’s cleared for contact, let alone to play. Sounds more like he’s just doing what he can, and remaining optimistic
  3. Sets the table for Hirose/Wolanin/Brisebois to win the 3LD spot?
  4. SCOUTING REPORT Still has good range and mobility, but he is not much of an offensive factor now that he is in his 30s. Needs to make better use of his reach and tighten up his play defensively to maintain a job in the National Hockey League. Has a wealth of experience in the pro game, so he is a solid depth option for any NHL squad. Long Range Potential:Journeyman depth defenseman.
  5. Hughes is on his natural side on the left, no? I’m a big fan of Hirose - hope he makes the team out of camp. Looks like that 3LD is the only regular spot up for grabs
  6. He looked interesting, but 185 lbs on a 6’4” frame is pretty light. Happy we added heavier options
  7. If no other trades are made… Hughes - Soucy Cole - Hronek Wolanin -Myers Brisebois - Juulsen ?
  8. Same. Soucy could partner with Hughes potentially, or Cole could be a steady partner for Myers? Unless that Myers trade happens?
  9. These seem like upgrades that will improve our team defence and PK Blueger > Dries Cole > OEL Soucy > Myers
  10. SCOUTING REPORT A slow developer (four seasons of college hockey, plus three in the AHL), he is learning to make the best possible use of his size and strength. He can play either side effectively, and has shown he can be an effective shutdown defender. Though he has never been a big point producer, he knows how to get the puck on net for tips and rebounds, and how to find open teammates. Long Range Potential:Big, inconsistent defenseman.
  11. We’ve addressed our three biggest needs smartly. Wonder if we’re done?
  12. Happy with this term. He turns 29 this month, so these are his prime years
  13. It’s what he made last year, so seems to check out
  14. For one year he also becomes a rental at the TDL
  15. SCOUTING REPORT The prototype of a defensive defenseman who has the size and strength to play solid shutdown hockey. Can play a physical game in his own zone and does his best to keep the slot clear for his goaltender. Is at his best in a role that accents his strengths in his own zone, and does not require him to make the kind of offensive moves he is not suited for. Long Range Potential:Solid defensive defenseman.
  16. SCOUTING REPORT The Latvian forward put in his time in college hockey and the AHL before showing that his speed could translate to the NHL level. Provides plenty of energy and is more than capable of playing the role of shutdown center and penalty killer. Occasionally flashes the kind of offensive skills he exhibited at lower levels. Gets a fair number of breakaways because of his speed. His points usually come in spurts. Long Range Potential:Speedy defensive-minded center.
  17. I am happier with Canucks with each of these moves we aren’t making
  18. Too bad. Liked him as a low key bottom 6C target
  19. Already being reported on, including term https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-set-to-sign-carson-soucy-ian-cole-to-buttress-defence-corps
  20. He took a long time to make a statement about the HC thing, and is one of 3-4 players who didn’t deny involvement. Happy to steer clear here
