Looks like your argument ran out of steam, fella. Henrik played for Modo until he was 20. So…yeah, he was playing professionally in a league that didn’t require him to stand up to cheap shots the way he would coming up in North American leagues. Makes sense that wouldn’t prepare him to be really physical in the NHL, doesn’t it? Cultural context is a BS category? If Stammer watches his team take cheap shots, then that’s weak. Considering you can’t really back up your arguments with accurate facts, you’ll forgive me for not taking your word on that. If I was you, I’d tap out as well. Proud of you for attempting the conversation vs being passive aggressive though. Too bad you lasted 3 posts before devolving to name calling.

Does Stamkos watch his teammates take cheap shots? Henrik (nor Daniel) did anything when the rat Marchand dummied Daniel repeatedly in 2011. That was painful to watch. But yes, they are absolved because cultural context is important. I’ve seen SHL games live, and was surprised that big hits and scrums aren’t a big part of the game. Context matters. And yes, they are also slight builds - not really built to fight, nor did they have experience. Thats why we complimented that lineup with players that could send a message, like Bieksa, Rome, etc. Are you having trouble staying on topic? Seems like your argument fell apart there, so you’re trying to be witty. Your failure to understand cultural context, the role size plays in playing physical and importance for leaders to stand up for teammates is absurd.

I’m asking if you value sticking up for friends Darius. No need to be petulant. I didn’t say fights Darius. I said get in someone’s face and send a message. This seems to be a common red herring in defending Bo’s passivity, and it’s mentally lazy. Can you name great Captains who watch their teammates take full gloved punches, or get cross checked to the ice after the whistle? Take your time, I’ll wait…

You continue to argue from emotion, which is evident in your reply above, and your initial reply I just quoted (at your request) above. There’s nothing wrong with wearing your heart on your sleeve, but it doesn’t make for a good debate. If you want to check your emotion and have a logical conversation, reply to the post below. I don’t think it’s a meme, or a one liner

Good for you for using your words. Getting in someone’s face for potentially injuring your teammate isn’t bullying. It’s standing up to bullying, and reducing cheap shots that lead to injury. If you have the power to limit your team getting hurt (being bigger, older, stronger) you have more responsibility to use it. Especially if you choose to wear a letter on your sweater. Is that really absurd Darius? Have you ever stood up for a friend?

If you view it as losing the 5OA position, it’s disappointing. When you realize we have no business drafting top ten to start with, you can just be grateful. We have a (slim) shot at at Bedard or Fantilli, and the consolation is equivalent to a top 5 pick. That’s pretty damn good. In the outside chance we rise up to 13/14, we’ll have a chance at Carlson/Mitchkov, too!

This post is the equivalent of ‘No I’m not, YOU are!’ Having higher expectations for a 215 lb Canadian to be physical, and stand up for his teammates (vs a 180 lb Swede) is pretty reasonable. Especially as the Captain, who leads by example. Sorry you’re having trouble getting that it’s not logically inconsistent.

With the Blues win tonight, we remain in 8th spot. If there really is a chance of finishing 12th or higher, I’m curious if management would take steps to manage the season, and (if so) how obvious they’d be. -
