  1. For the record, I completely agree with you on concussions - before the report came out of him missing 7 - 10 days, I was highly skeptical that he would even have anything close to serious and that he would be on the ice on Tuesday. To me, him getting thrown around didn't look like it was going to harm him long term (don't get me wrong, I think the play was dirty and had intent and that Matheson should get some games). My guess is the extra missed games is a precautionary but also a hint to the league that it's time they protect their starts - both I'm ok with.
  2. What do people want, a Torts-like brawl in the hallway? We all know what happened after that incident. The on-ice incident wasn't conducive to going after Matheson at the time. The team then focused on the win and got it. Now they're taking his number, which is the better way for retribution. Besides, the play was a little dirty, but EP will be fine in a day or two. If it was a blatant hit from behind or something worse than what happened then you would've seen a different reaction. The last thing we need, tho, are suspensions on our end with stupid retaliation. Honestly, I think this'll be good for EP in a way - he'll come back stronger and more fiesty as a result. I bet he's pissed and a little embarrassed with getting ragdolled and it isn't sitting well with him - the kid's super competitive, so let's stop infantilizing him.
  3. I just watched the 4min video of Elias on the CDC homepage and got the shivers. I just can't over how good this guy is. Unreal.
  4. There really does seem to be no ceiling with EP. Every concern that myself or others - size, defence, face offs - have had turn out to be miniscule blips on his radar. I have been amazed with him for a long time now, but the quickness with his learning is something I've never seen before. Every shift he makes something happen, it seems, no matter who his linemates are, and the other team can't find ways to contain him because his IQ is ten steps ahead of theirs. His fire for the game is also off the charts. Game two of the season and the loss is eating him up inside. Unreal.
  5. Similar to last year in that we have bright spots in BB, Bowie, and now EP, but our goaltending and D lose us games due to soft goals and poor decisions. Top 5 pick. EP with the Calder .75 ppg BB with 30+ goals Bowie with 60+ pts
  6. Hi IQ is off the charts, exemplified by his defensive play. I shouldn't say that I'm surprised, but I kind of am with how quickly he has adjusted to NA ice. He's already our best player. In addition to being a contender one day (who knows, maybe this year) for the Hart and others, I really think he can be a contender for the Selke - he's just so aware of everything on the ice defensively, and he's only played a few games. Unreal.
  7. Yes. Nothing against Boeser, of course, but EP is just so creative in so many ways, and he also has an elite shot like BB.
  8. Yeah, OJ will be fine. I find that he's a player that needs to play with high-quality line mates in order to show his true skill/potential. So far, he hasn't had that since his winning team in London. Once OJ gets to play with our forward studs - Bo, Boeser, EP - we will see what we really have in him, which is going to be an uber solid dman.
  9. I bet he needed to sort something out with his bank and the only two appointment times available were during the two games. I mean, what else could it be?!
  10. A very well-written article that solidified my prediction that he will run and win. He's modest. And in the world of political strategy during the current Trump era, the democrats, cough Kennedy, can't show their hand too soon. He'll garner support from the likes of Biden and be encouraged to run when the time is right for his reveal. Obama 2.0. At least, strategically, if the dems want any chance at winning they will do this.
  11. I think the fact he's flying under the radar right now speaks volume. The last thing the dems want right now is to have a target on him (why have Russia dig up dirt on him starting now lol). He's young, has the family history and the look and charisma - similar to Obama's rise in some ways. Book it.
  12. I think it will have to be someone younger, such as Joe Kennedy III - he will be the next president.
  13. I'll have to take your word on what these guys have said about him. I do think he works hard, but I still think he will need to work even harder to keep his spot long term.
  14. Although I think questioning his work ethic might be a little harsh, I do think one can hypothesize that he subconsciously took the lack of competition for granted (this can be natural for even the best of them - of course, this can never be proven, but complacency is a real thing in any profession. Thankfully, our management has created an environment that discourages complacent behaviour (Are you listening, Goldie, Baer, Granny?). I, personally, just think he's not that good compared to our new prospects, and that he will be passed very soon by someone. But, he could surprise and be a late bloomer, and I would be fine with that and happy if it happens.
  15. Cheers for this info (I don't tend to go back pages in prospect threads, as there tends to be talk about other topics and not about the actual prospect, so I appreciate you). I hope this is true. 185 of lean muscle would be amazing.
  16. So close now. Can't. Wait. Sounds like EP put on some weight this summer - would've been nice if Jory said how much exactly. Anyone know?
  17. If this Bernier thing pans out, Trudeau will be laughing his way to another mandate.
  18. So far your spelling has been satisfactory, but, again, you continue to post with an air* of hypocrisy because you continue to make punctuation mistakes. For example, you missed the apostrophe in players in both of your posts above (i.e. "player's name"; not, "players name") to indicate the possesive noun. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling police all fall under the same category of being annoying - unless, of course, you're correcting the hypocritical police, because then it's funny and fair game. Maybe it's time you stop these shenanigans and get back to discussing QH, eh, Canuckfanatic? *The word choice of "air" in this sentence is an intential pun to also imply "error". Because writing is fun.
  19. It's always risky to criticise someone's spelling, grammar, or punctuation because you'll open the door for someone else to point out your hypocrisy. For example, one-off requires a hyphen and autocorrect is one word.
  20. Right now we are in the midst of a pendulum swing, due to the continued push for more civil rights, such as the LGBTQmmunity. Any time there's social change movements the Right and Left blow up, but it has to happen before the pendulum slows down and we find middle ground as a society. Sam Harris (Waking Up podcast) and the intellectual dark web (Google it) have lots to say about this current situation.
  21. ^ A contender for post of the year.
  22. This thread is hilarious, but not because of the OP, rather because of all the flaming going on for its creation. OP clearly states that RD is the better prospect, even going so far as providing two reasons why, and simply asks for a discussion on the differences between the two, which is even in bold for everyone to read.
  23. He's not just your regular 18yo 170lbs dman. He's an elite skating dman with an insanely high IQ, and it's these qualities that keep him from being vulnerable from hits so big that he'd get injured.
  24. I think you're missing the point, tho. The type, not the position, of player makes a huge difference, in that Hughes is fast and shifty, which is extremely hard for players to be physical against. Like Kane, QH creates space for himself to the point where players are stand offish with him because they're worried about being beat. He'll be just fine.
