The bolded part was me responding to his 2nd goal, TSN was saying it wasn't pretty about his 1st goal, the deflection. I just saw them run the highlights again without showing his 2nd beauty goal... typical TSN.
-
Looks just like Mittelstadt's highlight reel goal. TSN is quite funny sometimes - I just saw them show the game highlights and they showed EPs first goal and not his second beauty. They also said about his first something like, "not pretty but it counts". Hahaha his second was a beauty, yet they don't even show it o_O? I sure hope they show it later on highlights. I digress. Edit: I love how he stops short to get the Dman to stop and hesitate, and then he blows right by him. So smart.

Actually, he almost got back and blocked the shot. The goal scorer made a well-placed shot. I hope you were just jking. Edit: just made a sweet pass for a primary assist.
-
Disagree... EP is the pp quarterback, and his wide receivers aren't getting open.
-
What a back check that was too.

This is something I've been saying too, which is just like Brock: put elite players with good players and they'll thrive, but put them with players a step or two below and they will look almost mediocre as well. Brock is now in the NHL and crushing it. Once EP is as well, he will crush it even more than we've already seen in the SEL. I think OJ will be the same kind of progression once he makes the team and plays with NHL players (not that I think he's elite, but he's too good for playing with juniors). Once he's passing it to players that can take his crisp passes on a quick transition, he will stand out much more than he has the last two years. Core of Bo (two way force), Brock (sniper) , EP (playmaker), OJ (steady top 2 D) and Demko (starting goalie) has the potential of a Cup-winning team one day.

Ruh roh, Lockwood hurt and it doesn't look very good.

Kesler who?

Goldie looked great last night. I bet JB & Co. were thrilled to see him play like that. He just made Burmistrov expendable. Give Goldie the minutes and then have him speak to Tree to help get him back.

Elite players are needed, but they don't all have to play C.
-
For real, too. EP to BB will be unreal. I'm saying this with major reservation, but that duo has a potential ceiling that may actually be higher than the Twins.
-
I don't really think it's a matter of comparing. He has the skill to play next year, but he may not have the size. If it takes him another year to gain the size he needs, then when he's ready he will make the team due to his high skill. If in two years he still doesn't have the size, then I'll be worried.
-
Sarcasm? If not, just because he doesn't make the team next year does not mean he's not what we're hoping for. He definitely has the elite skill to make the team, but it all depends on how quickly he can put on enough size to physically handle the NHL.

Seriously, Horvat, Pettersson and Gaudette...

Thanks for posting, @Bigturk8. So excited for EP. His IQ is elite, and he's only going to get better. Him and Boeser will be a difficult duo to stop because BB also has great hands and passing to go with his shot. Me likey.

She's a great writer. I haven't read her new one yet, but if you like it and haven't read her older book Monkey Beach, I highly recommend doing so.

Patience is not in the vocabulary of most Nucks fans, and realistic expectations are also completely out to lunch.

The only problem with this is how management and coaching have been saying that if people earn their spots they will play. They've both earned it, so how do you deny them? Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine with then both being major roles in utica and being first call-ups, but I don't see them getting sent down.

Even late, thanks the reply! I've stuck with it. Every time I consider starting another book, I keep wanting to read more of it. He's been compared to some of my favourite authors, so that might be part of the draw for me. But it's really starting to grow on me. I should be finished it by the end of next week. I'm a big reader, so I think I'll use this thread more in the future and see if some booksnobbery discussions take place over time. I'll let you know my thoughts on the book when I'm done. Cheers. Update: finished a week or so ago. It definitely got better as it went on. I've always been a big fan of pushing the envelope of what it means to be a novel, and James did it quite well. I definitely think differently about Jamaica. If HBO does, in fact, make a series out of it, I feel like it will be a better story for television, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I'm now finishing off reading Arthur C. Clarke's Odyssey series, with 3001 the Final Odyssey. I'm such a sucker for sci fi, and as a huge 1st edition book collector, I've recently found The Hitchhiker's Guide, Battlestar Galactica, the last two Rama books to complete the series and just yesterday found 3001. It's been a good couple of weeks. After I rip through 3001 I might tackle another difficult book by Pynchon or Wallace or something. Nerd me up.

How did Jake look tonight? From the highlights it looked like he was a big presence in front of their goalie on a couple goals and had a beauty takeaway. Was he consistent the whole night? I'm stoked he came to play this year.

I'm almost halfway through A Brief History of Seven Killings and really struggling to get through it, and I can't explain why. It just isn't grabbing me in any kind of way for some reason, yet I can't bring myself to just give up and read something else. I think it might have to do with the multiple narratives and their streams of consciousness, which don't seem believable to me. Please tell me, is it worth sticking it out if I'm not liking it after the first 300 pages?

Tony Danza?

This exact play stuck in my mind too. He is going to be one heck of a dman. I can't wait to see him play with NHL calibre players. I think he's going to make the team this year, or he will at least make it very hard on the team to say no.
-
I don't think we will have to worry about his skating, since he seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. Very good positionally. Plus, at the 3:15 Mark in the highlight video he blew by their D while shorthanded and scored a beauty. I like this guy a lot.

He was a goal per game for the last 40ish games of the season?! That's cray cray.
