Leadimg scorer on the rockets and he's from Saskatchewan... Good pick. And he's excited to get picked by Van. This could be this year's Boeser find.
-
And my brother and I have identical frames. I'm not reading into it; I'm just saying it's a concern that him and his brother will be like me and my brother and have the same body styles. I hope this isn't the case, but it is a valid concern nonetheless.
-
If what some people have claimed about his older brother never filling out his wirey frame are true, this pick concerns me. I hope those claims are wrong and we just stole the draft.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

He must, because 200lbs is a lot without any upper body strength. Crazy how opposite players can be. I wish someone could do some comparisons from previous combines to see how the relation turned out in hindsight. -

Scary if he's 200lbs and can't do one pullup and can only do one bench press. He is certainly overweight in many areas if this is the case. Unless his lower body strength is off the charts. How were the rest of his stats? -
But you must know that precursors like the one you made are transparently negative, no? It's like the comments, "With all due respect", or "I'm not racist, but..."; surely I'm not the only one who sees this O_o? It seems to me like you may be the one backpedaling. I assure you I'm not. Edit: Honestly, I think what you have both just demonstrated is how quickly people react to others on this forum without first asking for clarification--and how those reactions tend to go to the negative side of the spectrum.
-
Thank you so much! Please teach me how to never make a mistake. I mean, how did you know that he was backpedaling and not actually making a tongue-in-cheek comment? I wish I possessed skills like yours. Also, you missed your comma before 'but', but who's checking, right?
-
I dunno, I read that comment as being slightly tongue & cheek. It seems to me like there are two camps here with Jake: those who look at his points last year and call him a disappointment and those who look at his new-found weight, work ethic and professionalism and call him an improvement. In other words, positive thinking people and negative thinking people. Welcome to CDC. Go Jake

I don't think it's that false of a comparison. They had similar first NHL seasons, points-wise. Granted, Brown went down to the AHL due to the lockout and did very well, but he was sent down to work on his offence whereas Jake was sent down to work on his fitness and professionalism. Will Jake go on to have a career like Brown? Time will tell. But Jake could easily make the 4th line this year and score 25 to 30 points. People like to compare and predict what Jake has the potential to play like, which is a game like Brown or Iggy. I don't see a problem with doing this.
-
Iggy is probably a poor example but Brown is a decent one.

I think consistency is an issue even for most veterans, so it is certainly something he will have to also work on. He looked great the last month or more of the season, flying passed the other team like they were standing still. He also started to get a few points once paired with some better players, and I think the large amount of competition with the likes of our newly acquired young guys will do Jake wonders in trying to prove himself. His shot is top-notch like Boeser's. The work ethic thing for a high draft pick is definitely disappointing, but he showed last year that he got the message; of course, as I mentioned previously, if he comes to camp out if shape again then my hope for him is lost. Some posters on here, tho, just look at his point totals last year and get so worried that he will never amount to anything. I look at his point totals his first year he stuck with us as well as his new-found professionalism and I feel quite confident that he will surprise all the naysayers. It will not surprise me one bit to see him become a solid 2nd line winger for us. The pick is high risk, big reward, but if he does pan out for us, he is the kind of player we need in a playoff push. I like the Nylander- and Elhers-type players, but i would rather have someone like Jake throwing his weight around in a game 7 than a smaller skilled player--which we have plenty of already--disappearing when we need him the most. We didn't have a Jake-type player in our lineup, so I trust Benning's judgment. The moral of the story for me is that Jake is showing improvement where he needed it most, and trending up is all we can ask for. And, yes, time will tell, indeed.
-
His IQ has not been the problem. His conditioning and work ethic have been the issues, and now they no longer are. Unless, of course, he shows up to camp over weight again and appears entitled to a spot, but I just don't think he will ever do that again.
-
JV has NHL speed and an elite shot to go with his better-than-average size. His huge lower body will make him very hard to hit, and will let him hit very hard. He will be just fine.

I respect your stance, and I don't expect everyone to believe me, but I'm not going to name contacts on the internet in a forum. The fact of the matter is that it 100% is true, and I know that some people on here will get a sense that I'm telling the unfortunate truth. I was one that didn't believe it to be true, until I learnt what I learnt. I'm not some troll or young kid who gets a weird kick out of saying these types of things. But again, I understand those who won't believe it until they hear it for themselves because that is my style as well. Let me just say that even some of Aquaman's family members have argued with him to accept the reality. He caved, and I'm glad he finally did.
-
Because there are people who know people who know it to be true. Like me. I know someone closer to Aquaman than you can imagine, and that person has had arguments with him about biting the bullet and going full rebuild and stop trying to make the playoffs to make the extra money. I was very sad to hear that the rumours have been true all along, but I am happy to hear that Aquaman does, in fact, now accept the reality. Our future now looks bright. And why would Benning and linden accept his previous decision to remain competitive? Probably because Aquaman pays their salary.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

I'm not huge on CM, but I recall reports saying he stayed in high school because he wanted to bring a championship to his team, since they just miss winning it all last year. This shows he wants to win, not stay home. -
What did he say in response? After seeing Green in interviews since being hired, I think it's more likely that his comments of calling Jake out are his way to motivate V18 into proving him wrong, rather than him not believing Jake can be a 25 goal scorer. In fact, Green did mention in his hiring presser how he likes to turn 15 goal scorers into 25 goal scorers.

My sample size is small--yesterday's game--but I'm not seeing what others are seeing in OJ. I saw a man against boys yesterday. He looked to me like he was playing to his team's level, which means he likely has at least one more gear to give. Another year in junior is not the way to go. London looked horrible yesterday and completely outplayed, but OJ looked super solid, making good plays like nothing. I see another Tanev for us but with way more offensive upside.

Can't wait to see this guy play with NHL players passing to him. Look to see that guy's handsome face and name plastered everywhere in Vancouver soon enough.
-
Impressive, indeed. Wow.
-
He'll be just fine. He's showing lots of improvement in his work ethic. I can't wait to see this in a couple years on the PP: Boeser and Goldobin with Virtanen screening and Stecher and Joelevi on the points. Yes please.

No worries. Thanks for the reply. Oddly enough, the day before your reply my phone suddenly started to keep me signed in. I still get tossed back to the main page when pressing back, but remaining signed in is what I really cared about. Thanks, Stealth.
-
I have a question about the app on my phone... I login and ask to remain logged in but every time I press back to the last page I get kicked out and it takes me back to the nucks home page. Any idea why it does this? I hate that I can't go back one page and stay logged in. Errg. I'm guessing it has something to do with the new nhl/nucks app because I don't remember this happening before. Is there any fix to this?
-
I like this pick a lot. A solid, stay-at-home d man to compliment someone like Clendening's style of play. Benning knows wuts up.
