  1. I'd say you might be discounting the distaste for playing on a losing team that's one of the worst teams in the league and with so much drama behind it to boot.
  2. If you had a bunch of other NHL teams interested in signing you, would our current Canucks be high on your list? Hughes would be a great partner, no doubt, but I don't really see him getting gifted that opportunity, and I thus don't see him that interested in playing with anyone else on our backend, such as Dermott. Our defence and overall reputation around the league is a tire fire right now. Regardless of opportunity, there will be many other teams offering better situations with less pressure, better players, and still plenty of much more desirable opportunity.
  3. If Allvin gets some picks for taking on cap, I will have even more new-found respect for him and his team.
  4. There are a good number of examples of championship teams who have loaded up with at least one key player that helped push them over the top. Considering, as you say, the team is full of veterans, I think there's a good chance they are thinking of finally doing the same while their window is still open, as per the report they are willing to part with their 1st rounder this year.
  5. a) Because I doubt he's going to get slotted onto a pairing with Hughes right away; b) because our defence is terrible and gets scored on way too many times per game (it's embarrassing); and, c) because we're not even close to being a playoff team. I really think the only thing we might have going for us to sign him is if he's a long-term Canucks fan and wants to play for his childhood favourite team.
  6. He better still be a big Canucks fan because I don't think Hughes is a big enough draw to have someone want to join our defence core/system.
  7. 100% agree with this take. As I mentioned above, a team buying this time of year to push them over the top shouldn't really be worrying about not having one more 1st and a prospect down the road. Now, if you're like the Islanders and selling your last four 1st rounders in a row and Raty, well, that's different. Carolina letting go of Morrow and a 1st, though, shouldn't set them back long term. I think they'll finally decide to go for it at least one of these years.
  8. The team confirmed he had a setback, just not the extent of it.
  9. Miller could push them over the top, so if they win one or more cups over the next handful of years, I doubt they'll be worrying about their future that doesn't include one 1st round pick and, say, Morrow.
  10. I'm skeptical of the Twitter fan report of Demko screaming as he was going down the tunnel, as Vancouver media would 100% have been all over that as a report. Still seems weird for him to leave practice early. Here's hoping he's out to support team tank, but not hoping for another injury - that would be detrimental to the team and his potential career.
  11. They certainly need to start keeping some of their picks soon because they've traded away their last four 1st rounders in a row, plus Raty. They will have cap space one day but no assets or prospect pool to fall back on, so they'll be signing expensive ufas to fill their roster. Yikes.
  12. Hahaha petey is 24yo. Granted, hes good enough to win with now, but he still has a few years until he hits his prime. He'll probably be 195lbs of pure muscle when he finally hits his actual prime.
  13. Showcase Brock while teaching Kuz and potentially preventing bonuses = 5D chess.
  14. WAH gets my vote for dumbest marketing campaign of all time.
  15. Maybe Miller was one of the main the keys to Bo's pp prowess?
  16. Maybe it's time we get a smoke emoji? I mean, there is a beer mug... mods?
  17. Even if we freed up his cap, we don't have anyone to replace him, unless Wolanin can make the jump. We could go the UFA route, but we might end up with another OEL. They better save the Isle 1st or fans may actually riot, myself included. We're probably going to have to ride out OELs contract, which isn't the worst one to have to do that with. I still have hope for a fairly large resurgence from him.
