  1. How familiar does that article sound? Yet Bo chose to go there and it's not about the money, some say? Yikes.
  2. This just popped up on my news feed and made me laugh (thanks, Bo, for taking it with you, ha!): Why is ‘Unacceptable’ Being Accepted So Often by Islanders? https://flip.it/aAqCYY
  3. I agree with all of this, but unfortunately it seems like management doesn't, and it is what it is. Until management does otherwise, Miller is signed long term, so the back and forth of what management should or should not do makes no difference on what they will or will not do. No offence to you, because I like reading your posts, but I think I'm over the debate about Miller now and am starting to think more about what this team might actually do moving forward with the reality in mind that they're planning to retool and not rebuild.
  4. What are you even talking about with the bolded part that I have no good reason? What do you think my stance is here?
  5. Miller's contract/worth is a different discussion than whether or not we should've signed him, btw. Here's the thing: what detrimental effect would trading both Bo and Miller have on our star players wanting to stay? We don't really know. But management obviously feels like we need some veteran presence around to help get through this retool, and they chose Miller over Bo, which was the right choice. Rather than throwing all the anger towards Miller, haters (hehe) might want to consider channeling their anger towards FA and JR/PA not doing a full rebuild rather than retool, as that's the real issue here. However, maybe they're right in their assessment in keeping Miller. It's easy to play armchair and say "tear it down to the studs (Petey and Hughes)", but the reality is that we simply cannot predict the future. Only time will tell. Myers will be gone as soon as they find a taker. If they don't, there's no way they re-sign him after his contract is up. And who knows, maybe OEL turns things around under Gonchar and Foote? Or maybe they buy him out in a couple years? The only thing that's certain is management is in a gdang pickle with this team, and they didn't do themselves any favours early on in their tenure. For all we know, management have reassessed their original assessment of this team and they end up doing even more major surgery by trading Miller, Brock, OEL, Myers, etc.
  6. Because, iirc, his contract status changes after year 4 and options come into play, such as retaining, sweetening, or simply not getting a ton of value back but free up cap space.
  7. I think most of us agree that trading Miller for building the future would be ideal, but it's not likely to happen. But, when Miller turns 34, he becomes tradeable again, so there are always options when the time comes. If we do keep him, let's focus on what he can/does bring for the next four years, as he's a good veteran presence while we re-tool.
  8. The attempt at trying to get another crack at the cup with the Sedins was not the fault of the Sedins or their contracts but rather, as you note, signing an actual anchor contract in Loui.
  9. Well, you're arguing the wrong point then, but thanks for clarifying. The Sedins and their contracts were not the problem.
  10. Okay, how about we don't focus on where they were playing in the lineup but rather the fact that they were still productive in their later years. Guys who drive a line are those that are less likely to fall off a cliff like Eriksson did. Miller drives his line.
  11. No it doesn't - Myers, OEL, Peason, etc. And they were still productive playing down the lineup in their last years.
  12. It's a double-edged sword, so when this team starts getting good, he drives the bus. Fix the team's lineup and he will be an absolutely rare beast.
  13. 16 years on CDC and only 150 posts?! Post more, Sir Camelot
  14. That might be because you've been salty af for a while now (friendly tongue in cheek jab ). For real, though, a new coach that actually holds players accountable could go a long way, as the more players who put in the effort and aren't passengers, the more likely Miller is to see that the effort is there. RT sits guys when they don't step up, even sitting Miller early on, so although you may be right, I lean more towards seeing this team improve next year and Miller going back to last year's second half version of JT.
  15. Heart over head i.e. attachment over business. Here's hoping we continue to see more business moves in the near future.
  16. Have you been watching game since RT took over? Miller's defensive play at centre is already much improved, and I commend him for continuing to try and be a better player. Miller has been the whipping boy through the losing yet Bo always got a free pass from fans because he's such a nice guy. And did I say that Bo has low hockey IQ or did I say that he doesn't have "terribly strong hockey IQ to make plays"? Do you even understand the point I made, or are you too busy throwing your own tantrum to pick up what I'm putting down? Maybe you can offer an actual rebuttal?
  17. I'm not sold on the idea that it'll be an anchor. Someone like Bo, who doesn't have a terribly strong hockey IQ to make plays, relies on his speed a lot has a better chance of regressing to become an anchor, but Miller has a high IQ to read and make plays, so I could see him adapting nicely to still stay productive in his later years.
  18. To be fair to how the team played, Delia was terrible last night, aside from a few good saves.
  19. Maybe the report about internals pushing to keep Schenn is a ruse to boost his return?
  20. When Hansen threw shade at some players for sacrificing defence and playing the right way in order to pad their stats, who do you think he was talking about? I'll give you a hint: one of those guys is having a career contract year and on pace for 50 goals.
  21. If Bo went to a team that wasn't in denial of a rebuild like the team he just spent 9 years with doing the same thing, then I'd still have a good level of respect for him. But he chose money over winning. He wants to remain being a passenger. I don't buy the "it's the best thing for my family response", as multi millions of dollars is more money than they'll ever be able to spend, so security could be had anywhere, including on a contending team. He wants to remain being a passenger. One could argue he took us fans for granted. If you want to win, show it and play the right way.
  22. Bo got a free pass, but he was one of the biggest passengers away from the puck.
  23. After we got him, he said he felt he was playing well but the stats sheet didn't show it. I can see why he said it. He's going to thrive with us and getting a bigger role and opportunity.
