[Signing] Islanders re-sign Bo Horvat

I think Drance is the most misunderstood analyst out there. He's got a lot of great insight into where we're at and what we need to do to get to where we need to be. Fans are blinded by his obnoxious laughter. -

I know everyone keeps saying that Bo's on a 50 goal pace, but I think there's a chance he doesn't even hit 40. 31 goals right now with, what, 29 games left? He's definitely not hitting 50, especially when he only has something like one goal in his last 11 games. -
This is an entire year lost of development, in addition to the mental toll. My hope for JL is down to zip until he proves otherwise. Time to move on with another wasted 1st round pick. Eff. Poor guy and poor us. The Canuck Curse is real.

NHL is such a bush league with its officiating. Oh, well, an entertaining game and we lose for the tank. -
Bush league.

He also said he respects him as a teammate for wanting to win so badly, so he seems like he understands where Miller is coming from. (Although I'm sure, like all of us, he wishes Miller could sort out his passion and tone it down a little.)

Is Elias Pettersson Happy In Vancouver? | 32 Thoughts (Sportsnet)

The issue with Petey is he's uncomfortable being asked questions, so when that intensifies with being the captain, it could have a damaging effect on him, professionally and personally. He's an introvert, so let him be his introverted self and play hockey and lead on the ice. Miller respected Bruce, so I don't see why he wouldn't respect RT. RT commands a lot of respect in the hockey world. I think Miller truly does want to be better at controlling his fire, and I think RT is the guy to do it. Bruce was too easy on him. -

Interesting, as I've always thought the opposite with Hughes and the Media. Calm demeanor and doesn't get rattled. -

Maybe he can't, but if not, maybe he tells Allvin to trade him before July Yup, same - that was the moment where Hughes stepped up, as well as with his Pearson comments. I just hope they don't give it to Petey simply because he's the best player. He's not a media guy. Give him an A, keep the pressure off him, and let him do his thing. -

Thankfully, our scapegoat is OEL and not Eriksson anymore. At least OEL can still play hockey and has room to still get back to a glimmer of his former self. -

The new coaching staff has a good chance of helping Miller rein in his "passion". I'm with you, though, as Miller's attitude wears thin quickly. But, at the same time, I'm betting him and the team have had lots of conversations about it and he and them know where they all stand with it, and that they all know he's going to keep trying to rein it in. However, I agree that he better learn sooner rather than later. -

I've been worried about Petey's thoughts on Miller and what impact it'll have on him wanting to stay, but I got a strong sense in the interview that he gets it - Miller can be a hot-head, but he wants to win so badly, and I think Petey truly does respect him for it. -

Quinn comes from such a great hockey family, so I could see him getting it. He's great with the media, and Petey is great on the ice. Then let Miller yell at the refs and OEL, well, I don't know what his role is. -

They have a lot of fans with a lot of false hope. They ignore the fact that LL has traded away their 1st round picks four years in a row. They're the Canucks of the East, really, chasing a playoff spot while remaining a middling team and ignoring the writing on the wall of the state of their team and not following the right path to building a contending team and franchise. CDC is happy that our management team is finally - ostensibly - starting to build a franchise the right way. We've been wanting the long fix for a long time, and we can finally rejoice in the fact that the short fix is over.
