  1. This major surgery feels like a huge weight off everyones' shoulders, fans included. Lots of exciting story lines to follow; the one I'm most interested in is seeing how RT gets this team playing.
  2. Definitely flying under the trade-return radar. He could have a resurgence/breakout with us. I mean, shiat, he's playing on the top line with Petey and Kuz.
  3. If they didn't sign Boeser, wouldn't he have become a UFA and we'd have lost him for nothing?
  4. It's quite exciting to know we're seeing major change happening. It's due. Plus, it should take a lot of pressure off the team.
  5. Bo is a good player, but he's not getting any younger, and the contract is insane for a player like him. Quite the opposite, actually.
  6. Bad contracts are bad contracts, so even if/when the cap goes up and it can fit within it, other teams who don't have similar bad contracts will have a large advantage.
  7. Oh, Gawd, please lock this thread. Simmons is Toronto's Sekeres.
  8. It's possible they knew all along they didn't see Bo as a Canuck long term. Signed Miller, offered Bo less than his current aav... JR's evaluation might have come to the conclusion that Bo was a country-club captain. I mean, many of us saw it, so maybe management did as well right when they came aboard.
  9. I'll believe it when I see it, but they're not winning the cup, regardless, which is the only thing that matters.
  10. My post was about how it sounds just like the state we've been in for many years: selling futures in an attempt to improve so that we can get into the playoffs, when the reality is that we wouldn't win the cup even if we did. We're now rebuilding, I mean, retooling because it was a foolish attempt. Now the Isle are doing the same with Bo. Sure, maybe they'll improve with Bo and make the playoffs this year or next, but they're not going to win the cup, and very soon they'll be in a terrible place as a team with aging vets and a bloated contract with Bo that isn't going to age well. I've seen this movie before. It doesn't end well.
  11. If only they had Iffy Ifferson on their team, they could maybe sneak into the playoffs. Haven't we seen this movie before? This is what I agree with Drance on: you need to be an elite team to win the cup - just squeeking in isn't going to get it done, so build a team the right way rather than trade away your futures and signing bloated contracts.
  12. Sure, but weren't eight of those assists against two of the worst teams in the league, or something like that?
  13. Isn't his torrent pace lately one goal in his last ten games?
  14. When things get tough on the Island in a couple years, and he starts seeing us progressing in a couple years, I don't think the handful of extra million is going to make him feel any better. Maybe it will, tho, because it means something to him now.
  15. Bo is going to regret this decision. Thankfully, we are not.
  16. I think we're doing the right things to build for the future with elite talent whereas Lou is doing what we did when we signed Eriksson.
  17. Just lost a lot of respect for Bo. Obviously winning isn't important to him. Needed that extra $1m per year, apparently. I'm a little bitter and now looking forward to us building while the Isle continue their decline.
  18. Agree. He's so uncomfortable in front of the camera with the media, and that's a massive part of the role. Unless the leadership team around him can have someone who takes that part on (Miller?) and Petey just leads on the ice. I'd sure hate to see Petey getting put in front of the camera over and over again, tho, as I'd expect it would turn into another Luongo situation. Let the guy focus on hockey. Hughes has been growing more and more into the role lately. He was also raised in a very good hockey home, so I think my vote will go to him. Maybe.
  19. The book on him is exactly this - high IQ and knows where to go at both ends. Likes to drive to the net as well, apparently. Man, I wish I could watch these games, but I don't want to pay for AHL TV - subscription creep is real.
  20. B, then D, followed by C after he doesn't get offered more than Miller in FA, but I should mention E, tbh.
