  1. Twas just my tin foil hat idea that Bo was taking a subtle shot at Miller for not even hesitating to say Petey, when Miller has been basically co-leading the team with Bo the last few years.
  2. Yeah, I didn't say anything about best player stuff. I lol'd because he's so far down the list of potential captains that it's laughable. He's also injured to the point that he may never return. Sorry, but Pearson as captain is simply a terrible take.
  3. I'm guessing this is Raty? I also saw somewhere that he switches hands on his off side. I've never seen that done before, but it's impressive. He's got a really good FO% in his small NHL sample size. Very promising.
  4. Still no word on whether Raty is playing tonight? He's not even on the roster yet online. Also, anyone know if there's an NHL66 version for the AHL? (Not sure if I can even ask this, so I apologize if not.)
  5. His skating isn't as bad as some make it seem (I don't mean you). He's also said before that the pressure of being touted as the 1OA got to him, which is why he underperformed in his draft year. All of his highlights, though, show that he's got a high hockey IQ at both ends of the rink, and, to me, that's a great indicator of success. He also goes to the net every chance he gets. My only concern is whether he can handle the Vancouver media/pressure. If he can, he's going to be a star in a similar realm of Petey, IMO. I know, I know, settle down Canucks fans - I don't necessarily mean he's going to reach Petey's point totals, but he shows a lot of similarities with his shot, 200ft game, sneaky speed, IQ, etc. He's also got size and isn't afraid to use it. I can't wait to see him in Abby. I feel confident he'll be our 2C for years to come - time will tell.
  6. The more I think about it, the more I think it might be great for the team to fully accept Miller as a leader while, at the same time, to have him rein in his passion to become a true leader. But, it comes with a lot of risk. I'm betting the plan is to make Petey captain as a way to influence him to remain a Canuck for his career - same reason why Lu was made captain before his terrible contract was signed.
  7. Yeah, but Miller has been trying to lead this team the last few years, and Bruce publicly called him a leader last year.
  8. From what I can see online, Horvat has 37 hits so far this year in 49 games and Miller has 99 in the same amount of games. Horvat is 10-ply compared to Miller.
  9. What's a powderpuff, exactly? Please explain.
  10. Definitely have that sense. I do wonder if Bo actually turned it down or if PM did - I would think he has to take every offer to the client, tho.
  11. Even in a down year for Miller, he's still scoring at a .9ppg and 30 goal pace. His only downfall is his lack of hustle and his inability to rein in his attitude when things get tough, but I can only imagine how tough it is when you want to win sooooo badly and you see so many passengers on the team. Of course, he's also optically a passenger when he doesn't have the puck, but I think that's been overblown a little, as everyone needs a scapegoat. The thing that's bothered me the most about Horvat is that he only plays hard when he wants to. That's not an on-ice leader, no matter which way you slice it. If we saw bubble Bo during the regular season, we'd likely be a playoff team every year these past few years, as others would follow. Alas, here we are. Change is here, and we'll be better for it in the long run.
  12. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before on CDC, but Miller was a ppg player with us every season since he got here. He then had an amazing year that could've, and likely would've, seen him get $9m elsewhere, but he specifically said he was happy to leave money on the table to be a Canuck because he liked the potential of what last season showed; he even said that hopefully the money he left on the table can go to others on the team, like Bo. Bo was also offered something in the 7's and he turned it down. In fact, JR even said they couldn't offer him more than what Miller is making - and didn't think he's worth the same or more. And he's right. Miller is a better overall hockey player than Bo. Miller drives every line he's on. Bo needs someone like Miller in order to have the contract year he's having. Bo chose money over being a Canuck. It'll be verrrrrry interesting to see if he signs with the Isle, because if he does, then it truly has been about money for him and not about winning. I hope it's the latter.
  13. I will add that Miller chose being a Canuck over maximizing his contract amount. Just saying.
  14. Bo chose money over being a Canuck. I don't even care if anyone flames me for this, but I'm not sad to see him go. Watching him float around and play disengaged hockey away from the puck these last few year, while only playing hard when the puck is on a Canuck stick, as well as skating away from his teammates getting mauled (multiple times), made me lose a lot of respect for him. If you want to be a playoff team, you better play like it night in and night out, and you ALWAYS stick up for your teammates, no matter what. I'm pumped for JR to rid this franchise of the passengers and get back to a winning mentality. /rant
  15. Raty isn't a RHD, but he's just as good of a prospect as Faber, maybe even better. We'll likely see a passenger like Brock get traded before Beau. He's got the motor and pk skills we need. Plus, a mid 1st with the chance of it becoming unprotected next year. With every day, this trade looks better and better.
  16. I recall all to easily. It was a rhetorical question to show just how many key injuries we really had, as posters mentioned guys who were playing injured, and they forgot that one of our 2nd line wingers was out completely.
  17. Retaining on Brock for the next two years and getting an asset(s) back is much better than a buyout on the books for the next four with no asset(s).
  18. Dhali reporting that some social media fanatics have noticed Demko's parents liking tweets of others that blast the Canucks org. He also reported, however, that Demko's camp confirmed he has not asked for a trade.
  19. Sure, but at this point in time we won this trade. Maybe it turns out that none of Raty, Beau, or the 1st pan out, but all signs point to this being a really good return for a rental.
