  1. If Motte is the catalyst that will help us go 14-4 to even have a chance of making the playoffs then sure, but no on in their right mind would think that. Richardson fills his role for the rest of the year, even Lockwood getting some games. We simply cannot let our personal feelings get in the way of building a team for the future - you have to get something back for him, and we did.
  2. Canucks fans: "We got nothing for Motte! You won't find an NHL player in the 4th round!" Reality: "Motte was drafted in the 4th round." Canucks fans: "I would rather have him walk for nothing!"
  3. He's playing more minutes because our team isn't good enough, but he's not a 3rd line player.
  4. I think what they did was fine, but it's not nearly enough of what they should've done. 2/10
  5. How can you rather have him walk as opposed to getting a pick? That makes zero sense.
  6. One being the best or worst? Also, maybe add the freed up cap space as what we gained?
  7. He's a 4th line rental. If we step back from our Canucks lens we'd all see that we value Motte as fans more than the league does. Plus, as others have mentioned, other deals done earlier lowered his value even more.
  8. They've been our 3rd line, and that's the issue. We need cap space and picks. Today was underwhelming, but we did get a little more space and a pick in a good draft year.
  9. I really want to see a big trade made now rather than the offseason, as it not only means we're getting younger, yada yada, but that we'll also likely lose more games down the stretch, which means we'll get a higher draft pick this year.
  10. @taj1944 Servalli on Hamonic trade: Allvin became a really popular person within the Canucks locker room because that group was ready to move on from Hamonic...he had sort of worn out his welcome. (Halford & Brough - Around 6:15am)
  11. K, let's trade those handful, not our best players, please.
  12. Soooo.... If we win, we buy. If we lose, we sell. What happens if we lose in OT? Buy and sell?
  13. Although I'd still prefer $3m in cap relief compared to $1.5m, I'm warming up to the idea of upgrading our Travis situation today. I remember when he started in the NHL and how good of a skater he is, so hopefully Shaw can turn him into a great trade. I like hearing analytics involved in a move as well. Plus, he seems like he has a great attitude and will fit in nicely with the guys.
  14. This. Juulsen especially I want to see more of. He has lots of potential and I'd love to see him get some more coaching from Shaw to see what he can blossom into. Buh bye, Travis, you won't be missed.
  15. He's playing too good to trade him, but also too good for signing him. It doesn't make sense, so one of these things must be false, and I'm thinking he isn't playing too good to trade. I'm a big Miller fan, but the closer it gets to the deadline and seeing other teams cash in for the future, the more I want to do the same. Signing him until 36-38yo scares me. I'd rather not take the risk.
  16. Because Motte is on an expiring contract and likely wants way more than we can afford, and we're short on RHD prospects. Have you not been keeping up with things these past few months?
