  1. @stawns, I noticed you didn't address my previous clip of Boudreau praising Miller's leadership, but maybe you saw Boudreau's presser last night at the 50 second mark talking about Miller? https://www.nhl.com/canucks/video/postgame--boudreau-vs-canadiens/t-277437438/c-10867831
  2. Is Motte worth more than Highmore and Lammy combined? I don't think so.
  3. Herein lies my point: pissy and pouty are the wrong words to describe Miller's previous antics, as they provoke connotations that misrepresent the situations. Frustrated, emotional, vocal, assertive, outspoken, pick any of them and you'll see a different Miller who, yes, is absolutely still growing as a leader and person. Pissy and pouty...
  4. Here's a question: When you buy a shirt, hat, or jersey, what do you get? I don't own much Canucks apparel, but I have a signed Petey designed hat (Vancouver Millionaires V) and a SiR vintage-style hat. I also have a whale jersey that was given to me for a wedding present years ago, but I would never have bought it myself. My next jersey will be the black skate. I just don't see any apparel with the whale that I would want to purchase. Am I alone in this?
  5. We don't really need a LHD. I'd personally like to sign Brock long term at a team-friendly deal. I really think he'll have a bounce back offseason and be back to his former self, which sees his skating much improved compared to this year after his early season injury. But, the reality is that we need a young stud RHD, so if Brock can net us that return then we might just have to pull the trigger. I worry what that will do to the team culture, especially with how Brock has expressed wanting to stay with the team.
  6. Essentially my point with all of this. HSKR saying he's talked to two friends who have had them and can still talk for themselves is merely saying they're all like that. They're not. And, yes they don't take chances anymore, and rightly so. Anyhoogan...
  7. You keep adding/changing your point. You've been critical of Byram's mental fortitude without knowing the full story and instead assuming a lot based off of your own way of looking at the world.
  8. Your professional setting is quite different than professional hockey, where family is almost always involved in their hockey player's life and road to the NHL. Yet another false equivalency on your part.
  9. So your way is the right way, and any situation where it happens differently is wrong and unprofessional? Sounds like the old "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps therefore anyone can/should" mentality.
  10. Sounds like the story is muddy, but it doesn't change the fact that whether it was a parent of Byram himself, it doesn't make much of a difference either way and doesn't make him any less of a professional as a result.
  11. False equivalency. If you've never had a concussion then you don't know what it's like to experience it. I had one when I was a teenager and it sent me into serious depression, where I wouldn't leave the house or talk to anyone for a very long time. That's from one while wakeboarding, so it's easier to imagine now what it could be like after three concussions from playing high-level professional hockey. To speak about it like you do is insensitive towards a serious situation. Now you know three people who have had one before.
  12. You know people who have had a concussion before, but have you ever had one?
  13. I believe you, but I still disagree with the "man up" type of mentality.
  14. You're basing it off of "family situations" from the past, but you have no idea what's up with him and his family. With that logic Quinn shouldn't have his parents involved in anything regarding him and his brothers. It doesn't sound to me like your point is we shouldn't trade for him but that he's a mentally weak professional.
  15. Easy: if Byram can't be shown to be fully recovered then you don't make the trade.
  16. You trade for him when he's healthy and fully recovered
  17. Fair enough, as I can't agree more that there is a ton of risk surrounding Byram. I wouldn't touch a trade with him in it unless it's certain he will fully recover.
  18. I think you're overthinking the situation and possibly not being sympathetic enough. He could be experiencing some serious depression that often comes with a concussion history, or speaking to the media might bring a ton of undue stress, etc. It sounds like he's really struggling through this, so his main support network speaking on his behalf might simply be just that.
