  3. New Jersey Devils Offseason Report The New Jersey Devils have been very active since the 2022/23 season came to a championship ending. The team made quick work of moving out several high priced veterans in exchange for Draft Capital and futures leading up to the 2023 Draft. After securing young defenseman Elias Salomonsson via the Dispersal Draft, the Devils proceeded to select 5 more defensemen in the Entry Draft: Etienne Morin Aram Minnetian Theo Lindstein Hunter Brzustewicz George Fegaras New Jersey was thrilled with our selections and feel each of these young defensemen have a future playing in the Devils organization. The team having moved out notable veterans such as Mats Zuccarello, Alexander Wennberg, Brady Skjei, Jeff Carter, Nino Niederreiter to name a few, then utilized futures to bring in players the team feels have a brighter future. The Devils thank GMs @Sludge, @arby18_, @snowflake, @Caboose & @Gally for their time in working on deals to bring in Jeff Skinner, Sean Monahan, JJ Moser, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Moving forward to Free Agency, the club tried but was unsuccessful in signing number one target goaltender Philipp Grubauer to an extension and saw the veteran go west to Minnesota. The team missed on the first few Free Agent targets following in missing on Mathias Janmark, William Carrier, Cam Talbot, Evgenii Dadonov, Nate Schmidt and Jack Ahcan. Undeterred and with a full scouting staff working around the clock the Devils were able to secure some key players for the organization moving forward. The club had their eyes on a few forward prospects and players on the verge of being NHLers. Prospect forwards Ty Voit and Francesco Arcuri were targets leading into Free Agency and the team is thrilled to have these two up and coming forwards in the organization. Jakub Lauko we are confident will be seeing ice in New Jersey this season. Defenseman Leon Gawanke ( another free agent signing) is another youngster we feel will play games in New Jersey this season. In goal the club will rely on Logan Thompson to bounce back from injury and return to allstar form. Jonas Johansson has the inside track to sharing the crease this season at the NHL level. One player the team is over the moon about is young netminder Artur Akhtiamov, the youngster has all the tools to be a starter and to date has played a strong game at every level he has played at. We expect down the road his potential to contribute here will be immense. So as Free Agency winds down for the Devils there remain some lines in the water. The team is working to add another highly skilled forward prospect as well as another defenseman or two. On the trade front teams have been sniffing around Jan Rutta and Erik Gustafsson but nothing is imminent. The team awaits word from David Krejci on his future and in the meantime have a plan in place no matter the outcome.
  4. Alright guys, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here, Arizona has cleaned out the rest of the Free Agents!
  5. Are these the same three teams that may try to sign Martin Kaut ? Oh wait....
  6. Awesome value for Florida, Daccord will be relied upon much more this season on a good team in Seattle and you also snagged a 3rd rounder.
  7. Offensive blueline prospect Leon Gawanke inks two year deal with New Jersey New Jersey continues to reshape the organization's depth chart, bringing in young defenseman Leon Gawanke see's the club add a prospect whom will challenge for a roster spot to start the season. Leon potted 20 goals as a defenseman in the AHL last season as well as collecting 45 points. The young defenseman just turned 24, was poised to play in Europe next year but chose to sign with the Devils. He is projected as playing in the NHL this season and gaining ice time on the power play. New Jersey is thrilled to welcome Leon to the organization!
  8. J.J. Moser signs four year extension with New Jersey New Jersey continued their busy off season by first trading for and now extending top four defenseman J.J. Moser to a four year extension that kicks in for the 2024/25 season. The team having just earned the organizorgan's third championship has shifted its focus to retool the club and bring in more youth to the lineup. J.J. is one such key young player at just 23 years old and already in a position to play top four minutes and run the power play from the left side. No doubt there will be pressure on J.J. as well as some of our other young players on the team after several key veterans were moved out to start the off season. We have every bit of confidence J.J. can play through and thrive under the pressure here in New Jersey.
  9. DISCORD: There are some members here not on discord and not wanting that avenue of communication, fair enough. However I would recommend using discord when in this league to keep up on real time discussion, real time trade talk and in general keeping up with the group. If you have chosen not to use the discord option that is fine, but anyone wanting to join simply PM myself and I will send you an invite to join the group. Thank guys.
  10. Teams looking to add a depth piece to their defense can take note that both Jan Rutta and Chad Ruhwedel are available via the trade market. Will be on discord all night/morning if you need to reach me.
  11. FRIENDLY REMINDER TO OUR MEMBERS: Hey guys, so a week into free agency and a need to remind everyone here this is a game, its supposed to be a challenge, fun, and a part of a group of 30+ people here. There is NO rule or scenario where anyone here should expect a player that is an unrestricted free agent or a pending unrestricted free agent will sign with their team. It doesn't exist, its not written in stone and to expect off the bat that this is the case will lead you to disappointment. NO agent here is obligated or fulfilling their duties to ensure a team is happy or a GM feels heard during this process. Players will sign without notice to teams, some will engage in much back and forth, a front runner or assumed front runner is only just that. If you don't get a reply that is free agency. If you feel you were the number one destination and missed on a player or if you felt that all seven of your pending UFAs should have resigned but didn't then listen carefully. Pull up your socks, try again. There is a team of volunteers helping move this game forward and they do not have to put in THEIR TIME in but they do, and during free agency that can be a lot of time. You are allowed to be upset or mad that you didn't sign a player or thought the price was too high, maybe you felt ignored. Be bothered, then move on. You can always reach out to any member here to discuss, chat, or inquire about thins 110%. There is no GM here getting preferential treatment, no old boys club and nobody is personally going out of their way to slight someone or raise someone and being here since day one I will just flat out say the suggestion is extremely insulting and is pure crap. Agents discuss their offers, they stack up offers they receive and use many variables including Player Relations, role, fit, salary, term, contract clause, age, etc to find the best deal. Sometimes sure, maybe three clubs could all have been good fits, only one can sign the player. They being your fellow GMs and members here are fully cognizant that some tough decisions have to be made and some members may be mad at them or react poorly, they feel like crap when they are called out or given scathing PMs for not signing a player to a specific team and yet have tough enough skin to get back into it and keep helping the game move forward. I don't understand why this process has to be a negative to some here, I missed on all my primary Free Agent targets this offseason, didn't get a reply on a couple either. You just keep researching and putting the time in and trying to find players that you like. Being aggressive in researching, scouting and subsequently offering on different players sounds more constructive and enjoyable a process then putting that time into writing PMs or complaining passive aggressively here or on discord about what you did not get. Because I can assure being a long time agent I know these guys are fully aware team A is upset and team B is finger pointing, they are just helping move this game along and bring fun to it. Just remember, its a game. Thank you.
  12. Johannsson to battle for backup role in 2023/24 New Jersey was busy Friday coming to terms on multiple fronts. Enter Jonas Johansson, the 27 year old signed on to battle for the backup role in New Jersey this upcoming season. Having seen spot duty the past several seasons at the NHL level, Jonas agreed to a multi year deal with the Devils with the intent on providing a stabilizing presence in goal. Welcome Jonas!
  13. Goalie of the future? Artur Akhtiamov signs for three years The Devils took a big step in upgrading the organizational goaltending depth on Friday. Signing Artur Akhtiamov to a three year deal, placing the 21 year old as the team's top prospect in goal. New Jersey scouting staff were elated to find out their hard work paid off after hearing the young Russian was going to commit to the Devils for three years. These are prime developmental years for Artur, he has already dominated in the MHL and while signing now in the NHL he will be loaned to the KHL this upcoming season where he will work on perfecting his craft against men. Under the radar to some, there is a growing number of people in hockey debating if Artur was indeed the best goaltender in the 2020 draft? Time will tell. welcome Artur!
  14. Oskar Steen inks two year deal with the Devils The Devils continue to utilize Free Agency to strengthen their organization's depth chart. Thursday evening the club signed Oskar Steen to a multi year deal. Oskar will come to Camp and be in that group of forwards battling to earn one of the team's open spots. On the verge of being NHL ready over the past couple of years, this will be a great opportunity for the young swede to make his mark out of Training Camp. welcome to New Jersey Oskar!
  15. @da.moose coming in with some nice under the radar signings!
  16. @canuck2xtreme If the NHL is projecting a salary cap in 2024/25 in the area of $ 88 million how would that affect the GML cap limit in the 24/25 season. Does GML's cap number go up as much as the NHL by approximately $ 5.5 million or? Thanks
  17. Devils sign Francesco Arcuri to three year deal! The New Jersey Devils continue to find young players with potential this Free Agent season after agreeing to terms with forward Francesco Arcuri early Thursday morning. Finishing fourth in OHL goal scoring with 48 goals this year and tenth in league scoring with 91 points, Francesco brings a developing two way game with much offensive upside to work with. The Devils are thrilled to bring along another prospect forward we can work with in developing his game at the next levels. Welcome Francesco Arcuri!
  18. Holm sweet Holm! Swedish netminder inks two year deal. The New Jersey Devils were busy Wednesday evening finalizing a contract with goaltender Arvid Holm for a two year deal. The signing brings another young goaltender to the organization whom will get his fair chance at Training camp to earn a spot in New Jersey. Arvid has been knocking on the door this past season and has a real chance at getting games at the NHL level this season. We see another level Arvid can reach in his game and feel the Devils organization can help him get to that next level. Welcome Arvid Holm!
  19. Well I missed on four primary targets I had in Free Agency, just working the phones and checking rewriting and checking lists again lol
  20. Jakub Lauko signs a deal with the Devil(s)! The New Jersey Devils have come to terms with Unrestricted Free Agent forward Jakub Lauko on a two year deal. The team was surprised to see the 23 year old Czech Republic native available in July and wasted no time in presenting an offer for the young up and coming forward. Stepping into 23 NHL games this season and producing 7 points on the fourth line, using his speed, forecheck and and two way ability the youngster has already started establishing himself at the NHL level. The Devils project Jakub to see more ice time at the NHL level this upcoming season and will watch intently to see how his untapped offensive game develops. Welcome to New Jersey Jakub Lauko!
  21. WAIVERS: The Devils have placed defenseman Nathan Staios on Waivers, he will remain in Atlantic city should he not be claimed.
  22. New Jersey native James van Riemsdyk comes back home! The New Jersey Devils put pen to paper with veteran winger and New Jersey native James van Riemsdyk as Free Agency season gets underway. Playing over 940 NHL games to date and producing 591 points, the veteran is in line to hit some milestones this season in what could be one of his last as his career winds down. Far removed from his 30 goal and 60 point campaigns where he was with our organization previously, James can still be an effective player for us in our bottom six group. Potting 15 goals and 30 points should not be a reach. Welcome back home James, the Devils organization is thrilled to bring you back for one more year!
