  1. I think its just an honest response to that one guy who kind of jokes it off as " like anyone here knows anything or anyone here thinks a certain player could make or break a draft " kind of thing. Contrary to most of the couch potatoes, kids living in mom's basement eating meatloaf and so on there are some people here who have an interest, have experience in this at amateur and professional levels and some share their comments and do indeed have a clue. So its all fun, its draft day but yeah I think its more entertaining to think there is this dude eating pizza pops brushing off some people's ideas, suggestions, opinions and reactions when they are in the know haha.
  2. there was not, but late picks that pan out make the difference so in theory suggesting a 4th could make or break a draft is not too out of scope......check back in a few years haha.
  3. Stevie Y takes the right handed dman Vancouver was supposed to geeze
  4. we may never know, not a bad game plan though
  5. Carolina like a machine just snagging all the highend skill.
  6. not screaming at me, would have thought other better options still out there.
  7. Be nice to see the Canucks go for a defenseman, Plandowski is a righty whose style would fit into the team. Aleksi Malinen still out there as is Lukas Gustafsson.
  8. Daniil Lazutin is in the same boat, could be a player
  9. Not really true at all to be honest. Take Montreal and Vancouver for example as being discussed, since 2015's NHL draft: 2nd and 3rd round selections Montreal = 16, 4 have played NHL games, 2 have played 40+ games ( Romanov, Fleury ) 2nd and 3rd round selections Vancouver = 9, 6 have played NHL games, 1 has played 40+ games ( Hoglander ) Look throughout the League, most teams have 1 to 3 players going back to 2015 that they hit on that play as regular NHLers. The top teams like Tampa you can pretty much doube the amount of players making it and their games played. Hoglander thus far has played more games and produced much higher than Romanov and Fleury. Point being sure the team has had several misses, every team does, Vancouver for the most part has utilized picks more so on the trade front selected fewer players and still managed to keep pace on League average in this department. You could also go back to 2014 and then you add in Montreal selecting a defenseman who never played in the 3rd round and Vancouver selecting Demko and Tryamkin in the 2nd/3rd rounds both playing 70+ NHL games to date.
  10. I'd agree that there is no rush to move Schmidt and his value is higher to remain in Vancouver then get dealt, that being said his value isn't garbage either due to one season struggling. Its been said time and again that teams are being very careful to not make rash decisions or put too much stock into last season, coivd has screwed with many people's lives and professional athletes are not immune literally and figuratively. One thought, under the radar maybe, but the Kings could be a trade partner in that they are seeking to add a couple NHL veterans this offseason. If there is a scenario where a Right handed defenseman in Matt Roy could be made available he'd be someone to explore a little further. One of the only plus defensemen on the Kings, reliable two way game, can add offense, can play with an edge, 6'2" and 205 lbs. Might be a player the Canucks could use on the right side on the top four. $ 3.1m per caphit as well and 26 years old I believe.
  11. I wonder if the Canucks end up targeting a player like Lucas Forsell, seems like he could be something down the road. Vancouver does have 5 more picks to come so.
  12. I feel like the Islanders got away with a steal in Raty. Everything points to him being a productive top level forward. Could he really have fallen to the 50's because of a slow start this past season ?
  13. you'd be surprised, GMs don't make judgement on one season and definitely don't disregard the variable known as covid. Schmidt was worth a 3rd because the team was trying to move his salary and every other GM knew it. You get better than a 3rd for him any day of the week lol.
  14. Utilize that 2nd and select dman Sean Behrens and you're laughing.
  15. Love this pick, some high end speed and talent and the competitiveness needed to excel. I am sure the Canucks know what they are doing and are probably a little giddy that they picked him.
  16. Maybe its more indicative of the person involved being real with what happened, has been going through counseling has obligations in public speaking and making things right. Maybe just maybe cancel culture won't win this one and an organization has publicly recognized the person's faults and is willing to work with the individual. Opposite of classless.
  17. Wonder if the Blue Jackets stumble across Eklund at 4th , they've had a great day thus far.
  18. which is why you have seen a strong emphasis on drafting the past few seasons.
  19. Ryan Graves, Vince Dunn, Jake Bean........any other Devils dmen changing teams hahaha side note, I think the three defensemen moving to new clubs could provide better opportunities for each.
  20. I have to say, its one of those trades you try and pull off on an EA Sports game. " Here take my garbage and send me two good players " and feel silly that the computer accepted or like a fantasy hockey attempt here. But the team literally moved three players fans have been moaning about due to contracts and a perceived lack of value because not hitting the score sheet. The GM sweetens the pot by adding two very good picks to ensure his steaming pile is moved out in one foul swoop while taking on a very good defenseman ( whose playing style will flourish with Vancouver's ) and an offensive winger. Now the majority of calls, texts I am hearing on social media and the radio are fans upset that 9 overall was moved, that the team has to pay $ 7.3m per for an offensive blueliner. Hello, the team needs defense, scoring from the back end and added a fast, offensive winger to help the team have 3 scoring lines. Also bak to the caphit, OEL is likely playing out the contract of 6 seasons being a valuable member of the team not to mention after another year or two the cap will be rebounding and that $ 7.3m hit won't look as daunting as people see it as now. This fanbase is very frustrating, maybe its a bigger part of just society in general, but whining and moaning for specific players to be moved, for the team to upgrade, it happens in an impressive fashion and people still rip it. Opinions are everyone's right thats cool, but its disappointing to see so many people upset when the team just improved.
  21. Just shows Hagg's value is much higher than that of a 3rd round draft choice, Buffalo did very well to get Hagg and the picks.
