I expected more out of him defensively, this will hopefully allow him to grow into that. I'd hope sooner than later.

I'll try to reserve scrutinizing judgement until the halfway point of next season.

  3. i'm predicting, if the canucks pick 5th or 6th, they will take sergashov...

    1. SedinMadness

      SedinMadness

that or they will trade down. Depends on the deal they are offered. really depends on how badly benning wants jakob.

  4. if there are only 14 balls in the machine, how does the 20%, 13% and 11%...factor into the draws?...how does a weighted lottery work? i know, dumb kid from the sticks.

There's exactly 1001 combinations. One combination of 11-12-13-14 is designated as redraw  which means there's 1000 combination of numbers that's divided based on the respective teams lottery percentages. So last team has 20% chance which means there are 200 possible combinations that they could win with. 2nd last team has 13.5% which means they have 135 combinations that could potentially win. And the Canucks have a 11.5% chance meaning there's 115 possible combinations that we could win with. Don't forget this year the first three draft spots are all lottery. Meaning once the 1st overall pick is decided, the odds increase respectively for each of the remaining teams.

  5. can anyone clear up our 3rd round in the draft...on one draft list, we don't have a 3rd round pick but it shows we got our 3rd round pick back from pittsburgh in the sutter deal...i'm confused....more than usual...

It's possible that the sites that you are looking for haven't been updated since the season ended. The pick that the Canucks received in the Sutter trade was a conditional 3rd. The condition being that the Canucks would receive the better pick between the Islanders 3rd and the Canucks 3rd.

Look at the left hand side, just under the logo. It should show our picks for the coming drafts.

      smithers joe

yeh, i saw that but on other sites they don't show us as having a 3rd...

  6. button just said, juolevi, sergashov and bean ahead of chychrun...another fellow said that the canucks are high on juolevi...

i think Dante Fabbro is going to be a stud and one of, if not the best defenseman of the draft. i would try my best to move up from our 33rd overall pick.

draft a FWD with out 1st pick

    4. CANUCK-EXPRESS

      CANUCK-EXPRESS

I really like Chychrun but would be ecstatic if we can get any of these players if we're not drafting top 3.

  7. boeser is listed as a rw/c.....he could end up being our #1 centre.

    1. smithers joe

      smithers joe

      boeser, laine and virtanen.

    2. Gstank29

      Gstank29

he's not a centre. the only reason he plays centre is because he is stronger than a lot of college hockey players

  8. canuck's future # i line, with mathews at centre or laine or puljujarvi on the wing?...

    2. King Heffy

      King Heffy

I think he's a good player but he's too much of a "safe" player for my liking.  Hopefully we get lucky and get Laine.  If we're out of the top 3, I'd rather trade down a couple of spots and get a defenseman.

    3. smithers joe

      smithers joe

and what d-man would you choose?....who would you trade with and who would you want and who would they be willing to give up?

    4. King Heffy

      King Heffy

I'm happy with any of the top 3 defensemen available.  Really depends who falls after the lottery but you'd have to think Montreal might be willing to part with a pick to move up and draft Dubois.  I'd rather trade back into the top 3 but the price would be prohibitively expensive.

  9. bo and boeser....

  10. one of those questions that continue to haunt us all......when your dog licks your face, is he showing you affection or does he just like the taste of the salt on your skin?

    1. Green Building

      Green Building

It's a 3 part combo involving the aforementioned, and him trying to get the taste of ba!!$ out of his mouth.

  11. tkachuk or chychrun?

      smithers joe

they will finish either 27th or 28th but could possibly drop a spot or two through the lottery process...imo, of the top 3 picks, two of the bottom 3 teams will still pick top three...4th or 5th team could make a top 3 picks..i doubt that we pick worse than 5th....

    3. SedinMadness

      SedinMadness

and to ask your question i think it will be  chychrun.

    4. SedinMadness

  13. benning said, they would like to resign hammer if what he would be looking for, fit in with what they want to give him...

    2. Twilight Sparkle

      Twilight Sparkle

      i'd like hammer to stay

    3. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

This makes sense why they have been so quiet about trading for a top 4 D man or signing a UFA. Benning has only said they will draft a D publicly with their pick if they don't love the forwards available.

  14. now the d-man placed at 6th is bean...they say he is sky rocketing up the draft order...they had him ahead of chychrun...but after juolevi...just by the hockey scribes.

    1. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

      Glad to hear this.

    2. Baer.

      Baer.

Bean is boom or bust though. Chychrun is definitely the safer pick. It will really come down to GM preference. But ultimately I think Chychrun gets taken before.

    3. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

      But we've bean needing such a D-man...

  15. looking at the fa defensemen, i don't see any that are better than hamhuis...jmo.

    1. SedinMadness

      SedinMadness

ya the concern wasn't hamhuis ability. Its that the canucks just want to eliminate the long term ntc deals that they had. I have no source but i do remember benning saying that in a interview with team 10/40 several times. Although Bennin didn't specify hamhuis exactly or any other specific names. I believe that benning had hoped to free up some more money for free agency. I hear that as well, again no source.

    2. smithers joe

      smithers joe

only benning knows what he'll do...dan's dad said, that benning hasn't let hammer know what is happening...at the town hall gathering, when a women pleaded with trevor not to move burrows and hamhuis....trev said, they will be making some difficult decision in the summer...so they may move them both.

  16. was reading where someone picked the canuck's a pick for 2017, named sanitary virtanen out of finland...that is where jake's parents are from...

  17. toronto and edmonton fighting for 29th and 30th place....vancouver and calgary fighting for 25th and 26th place...we still might see a d-man with our first pick...

      Bruce Boudreau

That is a real tough decision I like Chychrun and his all round game. I worry about his shoulder problems at a young age and if he can play physical at the next level without becoming injury prone. I will defer to Benning and the advice of the medical staff on this and how he interviews at the combine.

    3. Green Building

      Green Building

Nice. I'd defer too. It's a close call, and it probably depends on what moves he makes, or intends to make surrounding the draft.

@smithers joe I think we agree on that, which likely means my idea was bust before it was even thought up. Just a pipe dream.

      Quote

we all want benning to do more than he can actually do...a second ist round, albeit a late round pick, might be possible....most important is that they make the best picks they can with where they pick.

  18. me thinks that the bottom six teams will end up the bottom six teams...only the order to be decided...i predict...winnipeg ends up 30th...

  19. toronto plays buf and colu 67p

edmonton... van twice and cal 67p

    vancouver...edm twice and cal 67p

    columbus...buf and tor 68p

    calgary...edm and van 70p

winnipeg.. none against the bottom 7 69p

    buffalo... tor and colu 73p

final order of finish should be determined after these games...

    1. Ossi Vaananen

      Ossi Vaananen

What I get from that, is that Winnipeg could tank past everyone as there is no point swing in the teams they face.

    2. smithers joe

      smithers joe

yes they only play teams above them in the standings...i don't see any of the bottom 7 teams winning more than 2 games...imo winnipeg and edmonton with only 1 win apiece...

Canucks are screwed out of the top 3 aren't they?

  20. it would be great to know, who benning's top 7 picks are...mock drafts after 3 are quite different...d-men vary from draft to draft..

  21. scoreboard watching tonight?

  22. can you sign a college free agent before their season ends?

  23. would you trade ist over all pick to arizona for dylan strome and their 1st pick...?

Ghosts I'd flip OEL and a 3rd to Edmonton for their 1st this year if that was available

    3. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

Acquire OEL? You'd best flip Edler, prior to that move. To Detroit, for some of their young offensive guys.

      Tan-man for Hamonic.

Give the D a complete facelift.

how many d-men in the draft can be expected to be top pairing d-men?...3?....we might have to trade for one...if we pick in the top 3, i doubt, we'll be selecting a d-man.

Logan Stanley? I'd take a gamble on him.

  25. have you noticed that after the bottom team's 20% chance is off the books, the other teams chances are very similar....2nd to 6th...

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

We had in 1970 50% of getting first overall, and we lost that.
