i don't expect the canucks to win tonight, but am hoping for a good effort from the team....go canucks
-
uld see the canucks with the 6th pick, which could mean, we could have our choice of chychrin, juolevi or sergashov....which one is best?
-
canucks are 3 points out of 28th place...
-
the only difference between what fans are calling for and the canucks game plan, is time table...fans want it yesterday, while tl and jb have to balance their moves and what's best for the players...and team...
-
i only see, shinkaruk, gaunce and pedan making the big club next year...with vrbata, cracknell odd men out and pedan making it as a sixth d-man....possible burrows moving on...unless benning can pick up another piece that can push another core player out...
-
the canucks have to try to make the playoffs, but it will be difficult and may not be determined until the last week of the season...
-
jb....please keep hammer here all year and re-sign him...
-
i hope they just re-sign hamhuis and keep him here...we need him here more than a draft pick...

it will all come down to what dan wants and what the team wants...i believe danny might not want to uproot his family for a few months and then come back for next year...family is most important to dan, not money...if the canucks ask him to wave, he might, ...i heard, la, dallas and washington might be interested...fans already have decided what benning has to get for him...i don't think teams will give up a first for a rental..it could happen, but, a 2nd and a body maybe....again, benning will do what's best for the player and the team...i don't think he will worry what cdc thinks....i know, i wouldn't.

button just said that juolevi stands alone as the best d-man in the draft...
-
people on here are always maligning vey...imo, he is playing better than, mccann, etem, vrbata, and even burrows at times...i'ld love to see him on horvat's line....he is a smart hockey player...i can see why, willie likes him...
-
six teams are 5 points behind canucks
-
i hope benning can make his plan work..good luck....

i think he makes some moves, but not as many as some fans are calling for....his plan is to have the young being taught on the job by the vets and then when they are ready, replace the veterans with the young...until they are ready, he isn't going to move out the vets...maybe vrbata, prust and hamhuis....
-
So far Benning seems to be a man of his word, so I'm not expecting an "every vet must go!" type of deadline at all, likely 1-2 pieces at the most, and those pieces will be dependent upon fair to great returns, he won't make moves just for the sake of making moves I'm sure.
I'm a fan of Hammer, and he is dealt I really hope he comes back and signs here in the summer. Win win.

i've been most impressed with niemelainen and bean

good luck canucks in february...
may you play well, win or lose....
-
about the magician that catches bullets with teeth....i wonder, how many times, he had to practise that before he got it right?
-
(speculation)...benning to trade all players over 22 for draft picks and minor leaguers...as per cdc's instructions.
-
i'm thinking that picking up derrick pouliat might be worth a gamble...don't know what he would cost...
-
i wonder what changes benning is working on?....

i think he'll move vrbata, even though he says they are not sure if they want to....he may not be able to get the return the fans think he can...same with hammer...i wouldn't be surprised if he retired after this year.....he won't be able to make deals the fans will be happy with...but he will stick to his plans..
-
I find Jim's trades and acquisitions follow a pattern. And to me that's a good sign. It shows that he has intent and a long term plan.
While one always wants the best return for their initial investment, the player's efforts and the market generally dictate price. I do believe, however, that Jim will have his shrewdest and most productive offseason yet. I think there will be some trades that will be not what everyone is predicting, and might be of a magnitude larger than expected.
You're weird too.

on hockey central today, it was reported that laine was 2nd, ahead of his Finnish mate and chychrn was 6th, with juolevi ranked 7th...
-
maybe vrbata and cederholm for shattenkirk...?....
i don't think much of yandle but nyr want to move him for top six scoring...
-
higgins might be perfect for an expansion team...vegas or quebec...his leadership and knowledge of the game count help a new team transition into the league....maybe lead to coaching one day..i think, he'ld be good at that..
-
higgins might get a like player like tanner glass....similar stats and contract length and age...fans expect too much...

@RRypien37 100% agree and part of it is also cap relief etc. With Etem here, Gaunce and Shinky pushing hard, Virt still pushing for a spot we have too many roster players as it is in that bottom 6 (Excluding mainstays like Dorsett/Crack/Prust/McCann/Burr) There is legitimately only one spot left when fully healthy (Hansen back) on the wings and 2-6 players pushing for it (kennins/vey) as well.
I'd be happy with an additional pick (any round). If late 6th round well take a flyer on a Euro who's been ignored or an overager from the OHL etc..Sometimes those guys can turn into gems, late bloomers. Regardless, Higgy has become redundant...even the cap space is helpful
