  1. problem for some is, if they aren't winning then they're not trying. you can only do what you can do. sometimes you play teams that are better than you. i look for the team to have 3 scoring lines next year and one checking line. 3 scoring lines with at least 2 strong defensive players on each. if sutter is your 3c than that is a checking line. i want to see miller grooming podkolzin, horvat grooming lind and petey and boeser with a tougher winger. this why i like the pearson signing so much. his defensive play takes some of the heavy lifting off bo. winning is great but only a part of team play.
  2. boys are running on fumes but they keep trying. low on talent, if miller, horvat boeser and quinn aren't scoring, where is the offense going to come from? i'm looking forward to the team they ice next year. hopefully i'm still around to see it. love my team and their efforts on my behalf.
  3. who will move into uttica? how are the fans feeling after news of us moving out?

I'm pretty excited about having the ability to watch our prospects in action in Abbotsford!   This is great news!

And I imagine we'll get a whole lot of local coverage, too.

it would be great to watch on tv up here in smithers in god's country.

  4. 10 more games with a depleted line up to conclude this year's journey. losing is tough on everyone, especially the players. as long as they keep trying, i'll journey with them.
  5. i thought the canucks tried hard last night. talent was pretty limited but the try was there. thank you guys for doing your best. just keep trying your best, win or lose. i appreciate your effort.
  6. good effort last night, canucks. keep hanging in there.

  7. your opinion is just as valid as mine. i just don't believe you decide the teams direction by what the fans say. if FA cleans house, so be it. it shouldn't be my evaluation of players that drives the direction he takes. this board is about opinions. we all have them. it doesn't mean that any of us are right. it doesn't matter which fans are right, but what ownership has planned. i just want fans to except that their opinions are just opinions and not something FA can take to the bank.
  8. if being a GM was easy, we'ld all be doing it, like we do on our computers. what i see is a lot of differing opinions from many fans. should we poll all the fan's opinions and tell FA that he has to take the majority of our opinions and build his team accordingly? if they make a different path forward than my opinion, i wish them well, because my opinion ain't worth stink.
  9. i don't know if benning will be back but discounting just the negative moves he has made, he has built a good cupboard of decent talent. horvat and edler were already here. possible next year we'll see; horvat, pearson and lind together; hoglander, miller and podkolzin together; petey and boeser with either petey's brother or a tough winger to ride shotgun. hopefully, we'll see hughes and hamonic; myers and juolevi; rathbone with chatfield, woo or schmidt. motte and highmore have good speed on 4th line. maybe sutter could be signed cheap to play 4th line center? imo the question marks are ; edler, sutter. virtanen, beagle, roussel, hawryluk, vesey, boyd, bailley and eriksson. i see seattle taking holtby and louie retiring. jake and roussel moved. many of these players contracts expire after this year, who will they re-sign and who are let walk? hopefully we get beniers, eklund, clarke, hughes, edvinsson, powers, guenther or johnson in the draft. i see this team as over half full, rather than under half empty. i could see his reasoning in added the players he did. he miscalculated sutter's worth, he saw sutter as a 2nd line center, instead of a 3rd line center. but sutter has been a good checking center. beagle and roussel were the type of players the team needed at the time. unfortunately he had to over pay them. virtanen wasn't a very good pick and the jury is still out on juolevi, mccann and gaudette. some other players were not good moves but worth a try. could jim had done better, yes of course he could. has he done some good things along with mis-steps, yes he has. it will be up to FA what jim's fate is. hopefully it will be a hockey decision and not a fan decision. thanks canucks, it has been a tough year.
  10. i see the canucks winning one against edmonton and two against calgary, for 6 more points this year. then the real work begins.

petey we have been icing a  ahl lineup the last week  missing motte and virtanen as well   we have lost 3 straight  and doubtful  that we beat  oilers in thoughs 5 games  calgary is chasing habs doubtful we beat them in any of the 4 and jets we might get a win maybe i highly doubt  we get more than 44 points on season

    4. canuktravella

not sure where u think we are good in ot  our ot record is subpar  and weve been getting beat 6-2 4-1 5-2  on a regular basis not even going to ot

  11. great to see some of the first round draft prospects playing. wish they would mention player's names more.

That's right, Joe!  I really miss Hastings....I used to love going and betting on the derby and they'd show it on the big screen.

It's so strange this COVID world.

I'm going with Essential Quality & Hot Rod Charlie.  Although look at this beauty:

Enjoy the race. Love the horses.

Charlie got the show!   And Essential Quality placed 4th....close but no cigar.

  13. i could see us after the toronto game, 2 winnipeg games and 4 edmonton games not having many more points than we've got now. i think we could end up in the bottom 5.
  14. i thought lind looked more like a top six player than any of the bottom six players. i'ld like to see him with bo and pearson next season. will the canucks sign petey's brother. another top nine.
  15. i think if you rate the players, you can give green a proper grade. green coaches, he doesn't play on the ice each game. imo, green is not the problem with this team. he gets cudo from me.
  16. all i get out of this thread is some people don't like benning, green, louie, the bottom six and their mother's cooking. i'ld rather hear how they would improve this team or would have done better to be winning a cup? oh and by the way, there is a game today, isn't anyone going to cheer them on? my fandom is to root for the team on the ice, make changes in the off season. i also know that my opinion is only one opinion of many opinions. it doesn't make me right, just opinionated. i'll let real hockey people make the decisions. sounds like some on here have been lucky to have been in the war room for the past 7 years and know everything that was done or tried. those people i'ld listen to, at the end of the season.
  17. back when we lost to boston and then the rangers in 7 sc games, some fans claimed they were garbage teams. from 1970 and on, fans have called for the gm's, coaches and players heads. if the team needs changes, let it happen in the off season.
  18. i am losing faith with my fellow fans after reading these comments. if you've ever played this or any other game, you know that sometimes the other team just outplays you. whatever changes are made for next year will be done after the season's over. right now this team, our team is trying to win for us. some fans sicken me. it seems if the team loses, they are garbage.
  19. thank you canucks for your effort last night. thank you braden for your great work in net. i appreciate you all. good luck for the rest of the way.

Quality SU, sir. Agreed, & very proud of this character bunch. They've been dealt a lousy hand, but keep giving their best.

  20. there were those who wanted quinn fired too, just ask tony gallagher. since 1970, coaches and gm's have had fans wanting their hides. i'm sure it will never change. the next gm and coaches will eventually get the same treatment. " do as i want you to"
  21. i'm saying, wait till after the season to tell us your opinions are right and we should all make your opinions ours. you only have to wait a couple of months. we all have opinions. that doesn't mean we are right.
  22. the last i heard was that a team of players and coaches went through a bad bout of covid. they have come back and are trying so hard to win games for us. surely the sowers of discord can wait till the season is over to whine about benning or their pet peeves.if benning is let go, it won't be till season's end. lets enjoy this team right now.
  23. i believe that boyd was our best face off man last night. he might have had weaker match ups though.

i thought lind was on our taxi squad?

everyone 50% or over last night but if Boyd can keep it up maybe he could fit in at 4C if Beagle is done.

    3. -AJ-

      -AJ-

Boyd is historically very bad at face-offs, but he was excellent last night. If he can learn some pointers from Beags and Horvat, he could be a great 3/4C.

don't forget sutter and miller, both at 55%.

  24. who takes sutter and edler's spots next season? 3c and minute muncher on defense?

who makes 3rd and 4th line from out of the incumbents?  17 of them.

i'ld still like to see, petey between his brother and boeser; bo between pearson and hoggy; miller betwwen podkolzin and motte. 3 balanced lines.

i'ld rather see rathbone with schmidt than tryamkin. 4th line is still additioning. i thnk lind and boyd might be keepers. in most of the mock drafts, either jake, lind or holtby being taken by the kraken nuts.
