  1. your right, but before they start lopping off heads, they have to determine where the problem lies. it is like taking your car to get fixed and the mechanic says it could be this, the problem still exists so he says, well it could be this and on it goes until he has changed everything. i'ld rather the team discover the answers and then act accordingly. if it is the coach , mangement, players, owners or stick boy make the right decisions.
  2. only the gm or owners can fire him and they may not see travis as the problem. the players have to take responsibility for their play. if the mix is wrong, benji has to fix it.
  3. what did i miss? what does baumgartner's coaching have to do with the play of defense? is he teaching players to give the puck away or so they don't stop a rush? could it possibly be that talent is lacking? just my thought. maybe someone can tell me what he is doing to stop the players from being successful?
  4. the kind of trade with colorado i would like to see is for someone like drew hellerson..6' 3" 194 lb rd and maybe a gritty defensive minded center with good upside. like ibatch says we are weak on rd's and 3rd and 4th line centers going forward. who have we got that can make sutter and beagle expendable? we have no idea if tryamkin is what we need. i hope he is but we don't know. can hawrlyk play strong center on bottom six, can lind play a center spot? i think jim has made some mistakes but i believe he knows what he is doing. i also think that if the luongo recapture penalty and covid hadn't happened, we wouldn't be in the cap position we're in now. in a perfect world, the OEL ordeal wouldn't have dragged on so long that jim's hands were tied from signing TT and maybe tanev. things happen and sway the direction he goes. fans only look at the outcome and not the process he went through.
  5. i've a funny feeling that hoggy is going to score a lacrosse goal tonight.

  6. sounds like hawryluk is off ir. really want to see what he can bring. is he another motte?

that would be great. I don't expect Mottes skill level on the PK but I do expect him to bring some energy and aggressiveness

      Motte did him dirty.

  7. if we were out on the ice playing and realizing how quick we have to make decisions, we might not be, so quick to judge a player's wrong decisions. when a player make a decision that costs his team a goal or the game, i'm sure he feels super bad about it, but it's done. picture yourself in that position. would you always make the right play?
  8. dank has his opinion, just like all of us. i doesn't make him right, just different.
  9. but are they at our door begging for jobs? how easy it is to be critical when we weren't there trying to get these players here. beagle brings that leadership and commitment to fitness to the team. was he over paid, yes but how else was available to pick up at that time, and would have beagle chose canucks for less. i don't know. roussel had a reputation of playing on the edge and supplying grit. the type the team needed. was he paid too much? yes, but to get him JB had to over pay. what was the alternative? if they hadn't got players like that, do you think the fan base would have understood and be good with letting their young stars succeed in their growth with out any help?
  10. sutter, pearson, edler and benn's contracts are up at year's year's. do you see where any of them would be resigned?

do we have replacements for them?

Trade Sutter, Pearson and Benn if there are suitors. Resign Edler for one year after the expansion draft. I think Virtanen gets traded in the next couple months. I think a Gaudette trade would hurt us unless its for a defensemen with similar potential. Myers or Schmidt grabbed by Seattle.

      Hoglander-Pettersson-Boeser

      Miller-Horvat-Podkolzin

      Motte-Gaudette-Lind

      Roussel-Beagle-MacEwen

      Hughes-Myers/Schmidt

      Edler-Rafferty

      Juolevi-Tryamkin

In my mind anyways this is how it could shake out. Wildcards being Rathbone, Lockwood and Michaelis.

I see Edler returning, maybe Sutter depending on the dollars/term he's willing to accept. Pearson could go either way, but he's made it known he'd like to stay. Guess it depends on numbers/term and where management thinks he fits? Is he a top six guy or does he drop to a third line role as younger players step up? I think we let Benn walk.

i see pearson on the 3rd line. can play on the pk. i like gaudette but see him on the wing. needs to improve his defense. if tryamkin can play solid defense then i see them moving on from edler. i'ld love to see lind make it, 3rd  line. i'ld love to see a 3rd line of gaudette, hawryluk and lind. and the strongest 4th line we can put out there. motte for sure if he isn't on the 3rd line.

it would great if we could finally build a strong defense.

  11. has anyone heard what bailey's injury is and how long he's out for? any word on hawryluk's return date might be?

  12. don't believe it does unless they break a mirror our walk under a black cat.
  13. linden was let go because he wanted to do full rebuild. ownership wanted to speed up the process and not lose too much revenue. linden was right. fans wanted to start winning sooner that later and couldn't handle the lengthy process. so in away the fans are also to blame. ownership pays the bills so they have a right to dictate what they want. benji made some bad signing but it was done at a time when players didn't want to come. he had to over pay and give longer term than other teams would. i think he was between a rock and a hard place when it came to bringing in the type of players he needed to surround the young core.
  14. the team has a problem but fans put their own spin on what's wrong. ownership, management, coaches and players may know why, but fans don't look at the real cause, they want blood. whoever is the cause should be moved after the issue is solved, not on somebodies whim. jim has to take some of the blame, same goes for coaches, players and even ownership. find the answer before starting to can people, my thoughts. you'ld have to back through each move jim made and the what happened to them. were his hands tied did. what happened during each deal. you'ld have to examine green coaching style and motivation. did the players tune him out? how much blame lands on the players? are there more problems with the mix. if it takes moving everyone then fine but not until the assessment is done. lets be sure where the fault lies first. that should be done by knowledgeable hockey people, not fans like us.
  15. green is on the hot seat. he'll put out who he believes will give the team the best chance to win, not who the fans thinks he should play. i believe we all would if we were in his shoes.
  16. he is. i sort of thought of him as the heir apparent to beagle.
  17. can’t seem to contact you about 2020. if i won a card, could you give it to elias pettersson, the winner. thanks.
  18. i don't kniw, but i helped people before my health went south. 2017 was my heart operation, and since then a series of health failings. i've been a slouch ever since. main thing is i found my calling and lived and worked at jobs i loved and felt fulfilled with. what else could a person want?
  19. i'm sure jim doesn't make trades by himself. he would have imput from coaches and even owners and other management staff and his scouts. if he has interest in acquiring a player and the other team says we give that player to you but we want horvat or pettersson, jim would say no but how about this player and this player. if they said yes, he would talk it over with staff and owners before he pulled the trigger. when they signed myers, the owners came out and said they were all in on that deal. we don't know the plans they have to fix this season. some fans want trades, some want new coaches and some want a new gm. everyone and their dogs have suggestions on what should be done. are any of them right? i don't know. but hopefully the people who make those decisions will not use cdc or other fans to make their decisions. we are gm's in our minds but not in the real world. i'm sure those in charge know the problems better than any of us. if the coach can't help the players through it our the gm help the coaches, than the owners won't have any choice.
  20. my goals are in my rear view mirror now but after years of working different jobs, i realized what i was really meant to do with my life. i think it started from coaching little league baseball and my love of writing. i once thought if i could write stories and teach kids baseball i would be most happy. first my son and i shared a sports column in our local paper. not a paying situation but fulfilling. then i got a job working with developmentally challenged adults. i taught them to play sports like floor hockey and baseball. then i got a job helping young offenders change their lives then i got a job as a companion to seniors in a nursing home i believe my purpose in live was to walk alone side others, teaching, guiding and making their lives a little fuller. i got to do what i really enjoyed and got paid for it. i still like writing as some of you can remember. i feel fulfilled. good luck to everyone.
  21. they talked about it in between periods. eliotte mentioned that canucks had both virt and gaud on the trade block.
  22. what would a new gm and coach and you do to make this a winning team? what would their magic wand do? would they be able to move louie and rid the world of covid and only make good trades and draft only superstars? if they can, then i say okay. i'ld rather see them try and get the team turned around this year, then if they can't, get rid of them all or move the franchise to quebec.
  23. ahhh, if only our foresight was hindsight, we'ld be champs. if only benji had had the hindsight that we would be hit with luongos cap recovery and that covid would hit. when he signed beagle and roussel, the team needed certain things to help the young core grow. because other teams were looking at those players too, he had to over pay to get them. he has already admitted he made a mistake with louie's contract. if you'll remember as a building team, players didn't want to come here. how would have other gm's built this team, i don't know? if he hadn't tried to make the team competitive sooner for the owner's pocket book, how many fans would have stopped buying tickets? how easy it is for us key jockeys to say what he did wrong. we aren't involved with the day to day running of this team. i would think it is a lot harder than we think it is. we look at his deals and those that didn't work the way it was hoped they would, then he is a bad gm. we don't know how much input the owners had in decisions. we don't know what changes benji tried to make, that never happened. he wanted to resign toffoli and markstrom, but at costs they could afford. it's easy to say he waited toolong to sign toffoli but we don't know that was or what other barriers stood in the way. i'm not saying, jim is a great gm, i.m just saying, we don't know the whole story.
  24. everything we see, management and coaches see. they are trying to right the ship. fans give up on the team way to easy. they lack confidence from playing montreal and toronto. both of those teams are way ahead of them. there is a problem but it is the whole team. myers, edler, schmidt, hughes, chatfield, petey, boeser, horvat, miller motte, beagle, sutter, gaudette, benn, pearson and the goalies have given the puck away several times. if your playing in a game and you give the puck away, is that the coaches fault? is somehow, the gm to blame? they have leadership, the leaders don't forget how to lead from one year to the next. are the players giving the game everything they got? i don't know but i'm sure the team does. let's face it, the players we count on most are looking very ordinary. without being with the team at all times, i for one can't tell you if the team needs a different coach or players. i'll watch to see them put it together without the fans help.
