  3. red sky in the morning, sailor take warning. i am ever glad, i’m not a sailor anymore.

  4. if it was good enough for outlaws and cattle herders, i is good enough for me. they make it hard on my copd to breath, but better than covid.
  5. haven’t we all been there to some degree? when i was drinking heavy in my youth, i’ve lost friends because of things i said or did. things i would never say or do when i was sober. one buddy told me that when i’m drunk i tell him i hate his guts. i mean, i liked the guy, but we were never close after that. i don’t condone his behaviour but alcohol destroys your thinking process. i would rather know, what emptiness in his heart led him to get to that point?
  6. i wish you were my guardian angel. not that i want to live forever, but you might be able to get me through one more year. cheers mate.
  7. it is better than an exclamation mark, period!
  8. it would be nice to know what all the headings are and what they mean. beagle also brings leadership to the team and sets an example in self discipline. always comes to camp in great shape. they just need beag’s to play until they have someone to take over that role. maybe hawrluk going forward. beag’s wasn’t brought in to score goals but to show younger players what it takes to be competitive.
  9. thank you futzy. got my list for next year. just have see if any of them leave us in december. i will also double check my spelling before hand. this competition is really close between 7 of us.
  10. i agree, but not shot out of a cannon. louie is a quality person, whose offensive skills have eroded. i don’t think the owners want to buy him out and if he could be traded he would have been. i still hope that louie sees that time has passed him by and decides to retire. whatever happens, i wish louie good luck and hope the rest of his life can be rewarding. none of us knows what is happening behind the scenes.

Only a couple times, when I was living in Cedar. Really rare that they come down that far. One of the most beautiful scenes I've seen, far enough away from Nanaimo for no light pollution either. The meteor showers were really good as well.

I was new to Edmonton... i walked around the city staring straight up into the sky......  so beautiful.

All the locals were just ignoring the lights... just doing their regular business.....

Me i was enthralled with the  northern lights and could not take my eyes off them.

My wife and I lived in Edmonton while I attended a religious college and the U of A.  We used to head south of Edmonton near the air port and watch them fairly regularly.  It never got boring.  Merry Christmas Joe. B)

  12. if there is no season this year, who does it hurt most...the owners or the players or the fans?

Seems straightforward: none of those 3; it's the employees of the Canucks and the companies that benefit directly from the Canucks (e.g., bars, restaurants). They're going to lose a large amount of their livelihood. Owners and players are rich and should have good savings to weather the storm. Most of the fans' livelihood won't be affected.

      All the above?

      Teams just lose less money.

Players lose a season and not sure how the pay works.

Fans lose something to look forward to.

      In short no one.

Maybe players with injuries it helps.

      The fans.  Namely, me.

  13. how does it work? if the teams only play 41 games, do players get payed, half their salaries? if so, what is the big deal with the league and players?

The owners need to look at it as a long term investment in their brand, or a massive marketing expense maybe.

Either way they choose to write off the loss, they owe it to the fans.

If players want to opt out of the season due to health concerns I think they should be able to do that, but like we saw with the playoffs, I think most players would choose to play a half season for less $ per game than in pre-covid times.

This is currently being discussed between the NHLPA and the NHL.  In the CBA MOU it was agreed that escrow would be 20% and that players would defer 10% of their salaries.  The players expect to receive that amount regardless of the number of games played - no pro-rata.

Players will likely have to agree on further concessions though.  Owners are struggling with cash flow.  They are now asking to defer an additional 16% of salaries and increase escrow.

The more the players take now the more they'll have to pay back to owners.  There is a 50/50 split of revenue and player salaries are going to be significantly more than their 50% share so they'll have to pay the excess back over time. They owe that amount collectively so older players probably prefer to push the losses down the road and have the future generation pay for it.

The shorter the season the lower the revenue.  This coming week is going to be critical if they wish to meet the target 1 January start date.  The playoffs have to be completed by mid-July because of the Olympics.  Several TV deals are dependent on a number of games played otherwise there are penalties.

Pro-rating (paying by the proportion of games played relative to the full length of the season) isn't the issue.  Mats Sundin did that when he signed to play here.

The problem, as others have mentioned, is deferral upon deferral.

  14. your a fine broth of a boy, lil b. may happiness dwell in your heart.. a gal has a little re-typing to do on my 20 years of the holy spirit within me. greatest 20 years of my life.

no. one parent was chinese and the other, japanese. i never answer those calls, but they get annoying. i’ve had scams from police locking my computer and wanting $100.00 to unfreeze it until the investigation is over. i checked with the police and said, it is a scam.

Some of those claim that it's the final notice to pick up a package.  Different from CRA.

Working for government myself, the ironic thing is that they called my work phone and left messages.  Sucks that they're basically working counter to what some of my colleagues do for work (contact the public for legit reasons).

Basically, if it's recorded or if they claim to have arrest warrants out, or take BitCoin those are fake.  If the government rep is calling to validate info THAT THEY PROVIDE with a live agent then that can be trusted.  Don't be fooled CDC

do you use any anti-virus software Joe? there are some good free ones like avast.com if you're looking.

  17. anyone who watched robinson play would have him near the top of their list. he was strong, efficient and always played at giving 110% he was a combination of murphy and konstantinov.
  18. to me it is robinson. don’t think he had a weakness. it is hard picking from different era’s. the game changed over the years. in the 6 team era, only the very best played. how many players in that era could have made the nhl if there was 31 teams then.?
  19. when i was younger, i liked playing pony express. it is just like spin the bottle, but with a little more horsing around. such great sport.
  20. great idea deb. i wish i had done that for my son. he collected canuck cards of the 70’s and 80’s i still have them here along with a box full i collected over the years. i’ve had 2 jerseys. no name or numbers. the stick in the rink i wore when we went to those two hockey games, and a millionaire/s jersey. i gave that to chon derry for him coming from rupert to terrace to stay with me when i had 2 cataract procedures. it was very unselfish of him.
  21. looks good lad. i too had a great number of cards when i was a kid. oh to still have howe’s, beliveau’s and mantle’s rookie cards today. what is hockey break?
  22. we’ve cancelled christmas dinner and gathering at my brother in laws. so just three of us here for xmas. no biggy.
