  1. LOL just the fact you managed to squeeze Pavel with those greats is embarrassing. Seriously? Comparing 6 legendary players who went in the HOF as first ballots and the only thing you can hang your hat on is "goals per game"?. Nice try homer. You know, Cam Neely is not that far off from Bobby Hull, I guess by your metric, he should be considered "generational" too. You're bar for what you would call generational is incredibly low Yeah you're right McDavid and Ovechkin don't play the game the way Pavel did. They are better than him. McDavid has had stretches and still probably is in the realm of best player in the planet, a cut above everybody else, Pavel cant stake that claim. Ovie has the longevity and has proven he's still a premier scorer in the league and is about to break one of the greatest records. To even compare Pavel to those guys is assenine
  2. WRONG! Pavel played 60 something games in his rookie season and he had 35 goals, thats not top of the league, not even close. I love Pavel like the next fan but lets get real here, hes hardly generational. Great player yes, but he was not a cut above his peers in his era. Name a generational talent that has no Art Ross, no Hart trophy to his name. Thats never happened. Sorry to burst your bubble, but ever since Bure retired, theres been at least 15 guys better than him. Never seen a player like him? LOL that guy in Washington wearing number 8 begs to differ, and McDavid, Crosby who have the hardware to show that they were in the upper echelon , a few rungs better than everybody else at some point in their careers. Pavel can't hold that distinction. Then again, Im not surprised with the bar you set with your assesment of talent. Elias Pettersson, an "elite player", and yet hes not even a top 20 player in the league
  3. Keep in mind the time we live in. EP40 is considered an elite talent when he's not even a top 20 player in the league. Bar has been set a little low in describing superlatives
  4. 80's and 90's it was Mario and Wayne, and then there was everybody else. It was insane how much better 99 and 66 compared to everybody else, it wasn't even fair
  5. I looked at the replay a few times, I understand WHY Connelly laid that hit. IMO Connelly thought the puck was going to Kero which is understandable, but Connelly led with his elbow so thats a big time foul. Had it been his shoulder, yes it would probably been a PP for Dallas but hardly worth suspending, ONE game at most. When you are on the ice and you're anticipating where the puck is going, things go really fast and you really don't have time to react. That puck coudlve easily been low on the boards and Kero touching the puck, Connelly made the right play going to him. Its the leading with the elbow is an issue
  6. Yup I agree, NHL calibre is in a whole other level. The passing too I noticed is leveled up. Like you'd see passes go through sticks tape to tape and it would stick to your blade. I laugh at the idiots when they say something like "even im better than Justin Dowling", no you're not. Dowling, Chiasson as worthless as they are in the Canucks roster, would maul anybody below pro level. The NHL guy I played with was like Dylan something I forgot his last name was, I hockeydb-ed him and he had 5 games with the Panthers and the rest were like Danish league, 2nd tier Finn league, something like that, and he still managed to make a few major junior guys in the other team look like pylons
  7. Yup, would rather see Locks and Bailey up in the big club over guys like Dowling and Chiasson, Dickinson to the 4th line and elevate Motte. Im curious to see how Bailey looks with the new coaching staff who preaches speed and aggresiveness. Chiasson is worthless and doesn't belong in the roster
  8. The closest guy Ive seen to Forsberg is Crosby. They skate somewhat similar, just a monster in the corners with their lower body strength.
  9. Played in a pickup game with a guy who played in the NHL for FIVE games. The other team had a few guys that toiled in major junior for a few seasons, he skated circles around them and made me look like Brett Hull. People underestimate how good players are that make it to the NHL, even the goons have a lot of skill, we just don't get to see it
  10. Sure as hell better than whatever Brad Hunt's done all season. Its an adventure whenever Hunt is on the ice
  11. Gone too soon. What a fantastic player DT turned out to be. Probably one of the best RAC players in his hey day. I don't think hes a 1st ballot hall of famer, but he'll have a bust in Canton eventually
  12. Such a good player, too bad hes got rocks for brains. When he did his 1st down celebration, i was thinking "give the ball to the ref you moron!". 1st celebrations are the absolute WORST. You got 10 yards, good job retard, didn't change the scoreboard one bit
  13. I'll take Bailey over worthless Chiasson
  14. Exactly. I'll take 2 presidents trophies and a stanley cup final over 10 straight years of calder nominees any day of the week
  15. Guess Burke shouldnt get credit then for the success he got with the West Coast Express, in your line of thinking at least. Gillis started the decline of the Canuck brand? Complete opposite actually, the Canucks were worth more when Gillis was helming the operation, the Aquallinis were basically swimming in money, not to mention that sell out streak, fan support
  16. Schenn is vying for the team unsung hero award the way he's playing. The way he's going, no way they take him off the lineup. For some reason, Schenn just fits here in Vancouver. He was tremendous his first go around here
  17. Benning did some great things here without a doubt. Drafting prospects? No one is going to touch him in that dept, probably the best we've had. He's batting about .500 maybe even touch above, and most people will take that. Its the crappy signings during UFA season, mismanagement of assets, not only players but coaches as well. Hansen was on the 650 last week and brought up a very interesting take. Hansen mentioned that after the flames series, he was actually quite optimistic about the next season but then Doug Jarvis was brought in as an assistant coach and screwed everything up, with Jannik saying "his coaching really got in out heads, we began second guessing" FYI hes still employed in the organization as a consultant. Its little things like that can mess up a team. Even went on to mention that Manny Malhotra being let go might have been a bigger loss than expected as people, gravitate towards him, when he talks, people listen. Just a great communicator in general, but has an aura that players just buy in to what hes selling. Seems to me that Benning is really just cut out to be a scout rather than running a whole franchise
  18. Lol how so? Just because they brought them here? Gillis played a big part in their development as well as the team with nutritionists, sleep doctors ,etc, not to mention surrounded the same players with key cogs to their success like Erhoff, Higgins Lapierre and so on. If going by the arguement of you or "one" I guess the whole Burke era was a total sham then considering the Burke Nonis era, the West Coast express, was built on Quinn and Keenan's shoulders. Quinn got Naslund, and Keenan got Bertuzzi. Guess Keenan isn't such a bad guy after all
  19. 2 X Art Ross winner Hart trophy winner Selke winner Ted Lindsay winner Jennings winner Presidents trophy Stanley Cup Final Presidents trophy All that Calder crap is garbage compared to what the other guy did in the same span
  20. Or getting a guy like Lockwood in the lineup. Chiasson has been gawd awful, and is worthless 5 on 5. He didn't deserve a contract here, but you know Travis, he loves his PTO guys
  21. If the team is going to suck, at least give the fans some hope for the future but thats out the door with basically 3 of our top 10 prospects from last season are gone within a span of months (Lind, Juolevi, Gadjovich) and in their place are guys like Dowling and Chiasson. Look at Ottawa, man are they terrible but they give you games every so often that give fans a glimpse on whats to come, like tonight against Colorado. Even Anaheim started their rebuild a few years ago and they are light years ahead of us with Terry and Zegras strutting their stuff in the bigs.
  22. Benning is just a great scout, thats it, everything else that entails being a GM, hes terrible. Remember his first year here, when that whole Frank Corrado debacle happened, the words "asset management" was born in Canuck land. We thought it was a rookie GM finding his way, didn't think it would be a running theme almost every damn season Like you mentioned, Toffoli so called wanting to be resigned by the team and got zero communication from management, along with former players and even prospects throwing shade at the organization once they are out the door is very telling. This management team is an absolute joke in comparison to the well oiled machine during the Gillis era. Don't think i ever recalled a fire Gillis chant in Rogers arena
  23. To each his own, I just felt that the series X nhl 22 wasn't a big enough jump. Madden 22 compared to 21, its a significant improvement. Gameplay and graphics, it really looks like next gen. I'll still play NHL though, love playing HUT. EA should just give the game for free on gamepass because HUT is the real money maker
