i Meant in the NHL, I didn;t recall him playing PK with the Canucks. Hopefully Olli Juolev can though, it would give him a leg up on the competitiion

Im not sure about the PK, he'd have to really improve his footspeed a lot, but it would not suprise me if he's on PP2 with OEL somewhere next season. He's got a pretty good shot from the point. Its not a bomb like Rathbone but its a wrister that just gets through
-
I also dont think its a smart move to comprimise the teams depth. Lets just say Rathbone outplays Juolevi, is Rathbone really going to make THAT much of an impact that its worth losing D-man when you are up against the cap already. OEL is going to be PP2 and Quinn is PP1, where is Rathbone playing then? Just the 3rd pairing minutes? The team has to also assess risk and benefit. That being said, Olli has to show up to camp and make it competitive because if he stinks it up, all bets are off
-
No doubt, all of us want them to take step forward. Thats good for us. The problem lies is people have gone gaga over our shiny new toy Rathbone and completely discounted what Juolevi did last season. He had some rough patches but he has progressed and shown he can play in this league. He even flashed some of the traits of why he was highly touted coming into his draft. Had Juolevi struggled a lot, then yeah, write him off, but hes clearly improved and with his waiver status, you don't want to give up on a player thats improving. Its kind of silly to draft Juolevi so high, wait years till his injury problems are behind the mirror, comes back and you see improvement and thats when you give up on him? LOL IMO Rathbone has to really outplay Juolevi by a significant margin to make it on the team. Juolevi did enough to at least warrant a longer look to at least avoid being waived
-
Were you even watching the games? When Hamonic went down, Juolevi had a stretch of games where he was good, even very good some nights Coach said so as well, so for you to say he was a disappointment last season is assenine. What did you think? Did you think he was going to look like Cale Makar?. Juolevi had a few rough games but he defintely took a step forward.

Absolutely loved Peyton Mannings HOF speech tonight. Just humble and selfless on his speech, giving nods to known and lesser known HOFers, light hearted jabs at his rivals Ray Lewis and Tom Brady. Just a joy watching Manning all those years from being drafted to HOF. Well deserved. Is there a more intriguing player in the NFL right now than Tom Brady? Geez, you take him out of New England, and all of a sudden the guy has a personality. That reaction he had with Peyton ribbing him, just awesome! I don't think we wouldve seen that if he was a Patriot. Im upset that we've been robbed of this for the last 20 years!
-
If Petey wants to get 7 - 8 million, he better learn to anchor a line on his own. LOL EP40 "elite" hahahaha but yet needs somebody to drive the line for him. Great players can dictate play. They don't need someone else to prop them up
-
Yup, I'll add to that to. Why not see if Rathbone can kill penalties? No harm doing that in Abby. Regardless, the fact that Rathbone only had what? less than 20 games last year (AHL/NHL) he needs experience. Just let him and Woo be the studs on the blueline in all situations

LOL Poolman is our Chris Tanev. Geez what are you smoking?
-
Thats a possibility, where they flip flop games games depending on who they are playing. But I'd rather see Rathbone in Abby
-
Rathbone has to play massively outplay Juolevi if hes staying in the big club. I don't think Jim is going to easily give up on Juolevi considering the long leash we saw him give to Jake. In Rathbones stint, he had 1 maybe 2 good games, the rest were just so so. He didn't look like hes that much of a game changing player that we have to just give up on Juolevi who was, for the most part pretty good. Before Hamonic came back, Juolevi looked like a definite NHL calibre dman

I agree, he should start in Abby. To go from college, to taxi squad, AHL to NHL in a span of a year, thats way too big of a jump. Let him get major minutes in Abby, be the marquee guy fans are gonna be shelling out money for. People are so enamoured by Rathbones upside that a lot of CDCers think hes automatically going to make it to the roster. If you put Rathbone and Juolevi's games side by side, Juolevi had the better season.

[Signing] Kraken re-sign Kole Lind
filthycanuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
LOL, a season ago you had Lind in the top 9 possibly top 6, after a few number of games of Gadj tearing it up, you're acting as if Kole is a nobody. McEwen was terrible last season. Ever since the playoff bubble, McEwen has done nothing but stink it up. If somehow someway, Lind makes it back here, I'd rather have him as the spare frwd than McEwen -
[Signing] Kraken re-sign Kole Lind

Rather have him in the lineup than McEwen. So if he doesn't make it in the Krakens lineup, Canucks got first dibs and don't have to go through the waiver lineup? -
I don't see it more of points as much as a percentage of how the line should be the best line during the season. The way I see it, back then 10-15% of the season, the 3rd line is ur best line, but now I peg it at 25%. The reason why we didn't do well is because (other than injuries) is were top 2 heavy. The scoring needs to be balanced and Miller can do that centering a 2nd line B. We saw him some nights this past year drive the play, was good in faceoffs, so I don't doubt him playing the role. He'll get his ice time on PP1 and be at that 17 - 20 minute ice time range Hogs Petey Boeser Pearson Horvat Garland Podz Miller Motte The days of a 3rd line being just a shutdown line is over. The 3rd line should be able to minimize scoring chances but be expected to outscore their matchups more times than not, and have the 4th as a the shutdown line rather than just keeping the wheels spinning
-
I haven't seen most of those guys play, so obviously I'd go with Luongo. His first year here, I don't think Ive seen that level of goaltending EVER in a Canucks uniform. That Canucks team was garbage, and Luongo basically carried the team most nights. It was the perfect storm as when Roberto came here, he was right in the middle of his prime. In one season, he owned the city. I know many MANY people that started playing rec and wanted to become goalies because of Bobby Lou, thats the kind of influence he had in the city
-
The 4th line would be Sutter Dickinson and Highmore, assuming JT Miller of course is centering a line. I truly believe having 3 good lines rather than 2 loaded ones is the best way to go. Miller's line on paper is 3rd but they'll be deployed like a 2nd lineB. Miller is good enough that he can carry a line and could be at some nights the one thats going. The way the league is trending, the 3rd line can't just be a grind line, they have to be contributing more consistently rather than shutting down the other teams best line
-
Miller centering Podz and Motte to start the year. We saw Miller last half season carry the mail without Petey and its VERY clear he can command attention driving a line on his own. I don't get why people are automatically putting Motte as a 4th liner. If he wasn't injured, he was having a career year, why peg him in the bottom of the lineup?
-
You'll never know. I was a big skeptic on Lamar Jackson when he took the reigns from Flacco and just improved the next season. I saw more from Jalen Hurts this season than that Lamar if that helps. Tough news on Jaelen Raegor!

[Signing] Canucks sign Danila Klimovich
filthycanuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Anything but the KHL, Id be ok for. Although as a fan I'd rather see him in Abby, but the right thing to do is really is send him to the Q. Let him play against his peers. If he's too good then so be it, but playing in Abby is such a risk. Yes he can get better coaching and the team has better access to him, but if he struggles, his confidence could get shot, it just might be too big of a leap. I'd rather see him at the very least dominate his peers and work him up the ranks.
