  1. Trade all our picks this year for #1. Honestly its worth a shot, if you're going to pull that kind of deal, this would be it since the draft is here. What better way to shock the hockey world and create a buzz here with such a incredibly bold move. I really would not want to move ANY of the picks for the 2020 draft which is shaping up to be the best in the last few years
  2. Way too lopsided, big time. Canucks are gonna want Laine in on that deal too to make it fair
  3. I think Caufield will be the 3rd best player in this draft after Kakko and Hughes. The way he shoots the puck, leverages on one timers and finding the soft spots blue-line in, its something the great goal scorers have and he has it. Mark my works, if hes not the 3rd, he might be even better. Caufield will be the Patrick Mahomes of the NHL where when he makes it to the bigs ,is gonna take the league by storm
  4. Sam Poulin could be a good one in a 2nd round. He's a Michael Furland , Brad Marchand type of player, plays with an edge
  5. I agree, Im not high on Dach at all, but overall upside defintely Podkolzin. Pods is very Landeskog-esque
  6. JV wouldn't get a 3rd round pick, let alone a first
  7. Yes the discussion is late first rounder, It could be Dobson, or anybody, better example Thomas Harley on this years draft. Dobson has had ONE season more development under his belt compared to the imaginary first rounder we are debating about. I can understand what youre saying that yes, take a Dman further along, like Jake Bean whos had a full season in A and even got a look up in the bigs. What Im trying to get at is that whether its Dobson, Harley, or York, would you not want another pick to get the latter 2? All those guys are unproven in the American League, let alone the NHL, but have a ton of upside, but there is a risk yes, but every player does. Im just of the mind if you're getting offered a late first rounder for a player on your roster, the guy that you have has to be not only one of your core players, but have the upside, the numbers to back it up, let alone from a first year 5th rounder. Ive seen 90% of the games this season and I can probably count in one hand how many times Gaudette was one of the better players on the ice. I don't really put much stock on hobey baker winners, its about a 50/50 shot they'll be either really good or meh players, they arent guaranteed stars
  8. Dorofeyev or Lassi Thompson are the 2 guys I hope fall in our lap in the 2nd round. From the couple of games I've seen, Thompson has a bit of Nick Leddy in his game
  9. I would've, but not after how Judd Brackett explained it. Previous management always wanted 6'5 , 230 lbs players that were NHL ready, but not thinking outside the box if the smaller guy can do the same thing of what the 230lb guy can do, can you imagine the upside once he put weight on? Its quite a change of philosophy and Im really digging where the future of the team is heading. I could be wrong , but I have a feeling Podkolzin never shows up in this side of the planet, and if he does, its probably like in 4-5 years
  10. I'll gamble with upside, over a guy that just makes it anyday. Ive seen enough Canuck draft picks that just keep the wheel spinning so to speak and not have that superstar potential. The game you were reffering to I think was one of the California teams (LA I believe), yes thats quite a goal, but theres been many players that showed up in the league getting their feet wet making highlight reel goals only to disappear. This debate can go on and on, of what ifs. If your basis for not trading a proven commodity over an unknown, would you trade Gaudette if you offered, lets say, Noah Dobson? Noah Dobson hasn't done anything regardless of where his draft status is over Gaudette, would you say no to Dobson?
  11. I think when we look back in this draft, Krebs might not end up being an all-star, but might be one of the handful of guys in this draft ( if healthy) that will have a very long career. This is a guy that Travis Green would absolutely adore
  12. Im not as high on Zegras. Theres a lot of flash, Im just not sure he's a long term type of player. Out of all the guys that we could potentially pick, Krebs would be the safest but I'd still prefer Caufield or heaven forbid, Turcotte
  13. Sorry If I didn't pick myself a pair of rose colored glasses. Yes Gaudette is improving, and he has graduated from the AHL. Too good? I wouldn't go that far, but definetly he can play in the bigs. He's shown flashes that he is a big league player, but do you see him supplanting Petterson, or Horvat anytime soon? Do you see him have 30 - 40 goal potential? Im being realistic with Gaudette, the fact that hes probably going to be an every night player is already a win from being a 5th rounder. He's probably a 20 goal scorer down the line, if he scores more, thats great, but from what I've seen, I don't see it yet. Would I trade him for a lottery pick like a late first rounder? Absolutely. Those prospects are 1st rounders for a reason, ie: they have higher ceilings, I'll take a chance with a player that potentially be a superstar. What pick was Brock Boeser again? EXACTLY. Im not saying that the pick is going to be a guaranteed star or even a very good player, but they're pedigree says they have a better chance to be one. As much you, me and others think we know better than the scouts, the sad reality is we don't, If Gaudette was going to be a superstar he could've gotten a lot higher than where he was picked. If he turns out to be one, great, but theres a reason why he was drafted late. I like Gaudette and he is a solid player, Im not sure he's all star calibre from what Ive seen at least, but thats already a compliment to him that already theres a debate that he's already worth a 1st rounder, at least with us, coming from being picked in the 5th round? Thats pretty damn good. Add to the fact theres a similar player down the pipeline (Madden), and our need for young D-men, I'll take the late 1st rounder. I'll pose this question to you, what if Gaudette is just a regular NHLer thats just a 10-15 goal guy, thats has a Markus Granlund esque career, would you regret not taking that late first rounder? You can't also just assume that Gaudette is going to be progressing leaps and bounds
  14. Toronto should be the ones adding a player if we are taking a guy like Zaitsev, whos got i think 4-5 more years on his contract at 4.5. If we get a decent enough sweetener ( a nice prospect or a high pick) I'd do the deal. Zaitsev is decent enough that, if you want to cut bait with him, theres always the expansion draft, and with his salary, could be one of the guys taken by Seattle. If hes good enough, then the Canucks can always protect him. Zaitsev's contract isn't quite an albatross as some make it out to believe
  15. Exactly, Benning and even Travis Green went on record saying that Gaudz has played centre his entire life, and I think Green mentioned that they thought about putting him on the wing but Gaudette is just really comfortable playing centre. The numbers aren't there but hes done a pretty good job, work ethic is there night in and night out, mistakes are a minimum most nights. He's already an upgrade over Sutter as it is. I do believe Gaudz will have more PP time next season on the Boeser spot on the left circle like where he was playing in N. Eastern
  16. There could also be an an arguement made on the technology on what todays players have. Gretz, Mario, Modano all played with inferior gear and most notably the sticks. Todays sticks are a galaxies from the wood, or aluminum shaft twigs they were using before. I mean, could you IMAGINE Brett Hull, Al Macinnis using one piece sticks lke what they have today? They'd be putting holes through goalies
  17. If Crosby is generational, Gretzky and Mario are once in a lifetime
  18. For me, If I want to invest on high floor investments, those are the ones that im intrested in, usually tech, mobile gaming, but the ones Im not too familiar but just studying charts, financials, and a bit of the news, thats where I'll invest for the home runs, low cost, high risk, high reward (lately its been mining and some smaller marijuana companies)
  19. Helps too that they have little to no competition. Even the the product wasn't as good as they were in their heyday (The Rock, Stone Cold, DX days ), the fact they are the only big name player in the market, makes them a pretty sound investment long term regardless of a few dips. Its like an Offensive lineman in a middle of grade 1 students
  20. I wished i bought more WWE stock way back when! One of my very first investments, I bought it at around $25.50
  21. You kidding me? If somebody offered a 1st for Gaudette, I'd jump on that immediately, without even blinking
  22. LOL take a guy that hasn't scored more than 25 goals, on the downward phase of his career, thats overpaid and can't stay healthy. Not a chance they would even move to 9th overall, let alone 3rd. To move up that much it would take our 1st, probably a 3rd or even a 2nd, and Gaudette/Goldobin (maybe?)
  23. I disagree. Gretz and Mario would make a mockery of todays game. These were 2 of the most prolific passers in the game history and you take out the red line? They would be firing breakaway passes from behind their OWN net, not to mention the freedom to roam around the ice without all the clutching and grabbing. As good as Sid is, or even McDavid, they're not on the Great One and Super Mario's level, not even close
  24. Uhm nope, he was TRADED first to the Rangers, and then he used the loophole to go to the Flyers
  25. Id be ecstatic about Caufield. He doesn't need a burner to shoot the puck. The guy is a pure goal scorer and we need that. Boldy, Seider, Im ok with. Krebs will be decent, I don't see much upside though, might turn out to be a solid NHLer. One of those guys just stays in the league for a decade but helps a team win with not too great numbers. Not sold on Zegras , Cozens or Dach. 2 out of the 3 will be complete busts
