  1. Exactly, if anybody saw Crawfords deployment of the Sedins, you'd know that the twins got a lot, a LOT of preferential treatment. They basically got 2nd unit PP minutes undeservingly and their pts were comparable to Goldy's. The Sedins were given a lot of rope, so lets see the same for Goldy. Honestly, Granlund Eriksson should not be in the lineup
  2. If Woo is a regular top 4 guy thats tidy defensively, I'll be happy. If he eventually becomes a 40pt Dman, thats great, but right now we need capable D-men, not fillers like Biega, Pouliot
  3. Rick Dhaliwal is the gold standard when it comes to breaking news
  4. You know I said "pretty much" right? Im sure you know what that means. Who cares what Don Cherry says, hes irrelevant. He's just waste of precious tv time in hockey night broadcasts
  5. Actualy I beg to differ. Mario's linemates (Pre Jagr) were putting up comparable numbers to the some of the Oilers top guys. The only difference is after Wayne left, Kurri, Anderson, and Tikanen were still productive even after Gretzky got traded. Were they just as good? No they weren't but they were still good nonetheless. Hell, Kurri put up a 100 pt season WITHOUT Gretzky. Mario's linemates on the otherhand turned into nobodies. Its a big exaggeration that Gretzky made EVERYONE better, thats not the case, you're making it out like every guy in the Oilers roster are 30-50 goal scorers but their not, its pretty much the same cast of characters that were scoring, Anderson, Kurri, Tikannen (Messier centred the 1B line). Lemieux had less to work with and it showed on how his teamates careers unfolded. Gretzky turned silver into gold, and Mario turned feces into silver. Same impact. The one guy Lemieux got to play with that was a talent, even without him, Jaromir Jagr is probably a top 10, maybe top 7 player in league history.
  6. Depends which oppurtunity you're talking about. Oppurtunity to play? I can see that. NE still has Gronk Edelman, and they have their 3 backs (burkehead, michel and white), all those guys are above the pecking order in targets plus Martellus is back there am i right? Theres gonna be more dipping in and dunkin even more this season, theres no telling whos getting the ball every week. In Buffalo, he'd probably the slot guy in between Zay Jones and Rob Foster (think thats his name?). I've watched Beasley for a bit...hes actually not bad, if he really wanted oppurtunity, he should've went to SF. Oppurtunity to win the superbowl, then yes Beasley is an idiot
  7. Wow thats not good. Lets give Quinn some time to recover, besides, we got Teves to look out for My only complaint on the list is Gretzky should probably a tad higher, but Forsberg should've been included in the list. Hopefully Petey can come close to Peter the Great once the Canucks become contenders.
  8. Fantasy football wise, L Jax could be an absolute monster if he even progresses a bit as a passer
  9. I forgot to add to, Duke Johnson would be absolute fit with Philly especially in the kind of offense they run. Coleman would be good too, not a fan of Josh Jacobs. Its a very very weak draft for RBs this year
  10. Im not sold on DK Metcalf, from what Ive seen he's route running isn't all that great, he can probably turn out to be a bigger Cordarelle Patterson or Troy Williamson (the guy Vikings drafted to replace Moss) just all speed and not much else, go routes, fades, no complicated routes. All in all, this is a very weak draft for offensive skill positions. The Giants have a lot of holes to fill. If I were the Giants, I'd try to get a pass rusher (strong draft for pass rushers), and BPA on the Cleveland pick (OL or CB) and trade for Rosen. The QBs this year save for maybe Kyler Murray are very lacking, Haskins is a project and Lock at best is Cutler, at worst he's Paxton Lynch. Rosen has more upside Earl Thomas I think might be with the browns, seems like CLE is going all in this year and their team is looking absolutely stacked with Beckham, and they got a reliable LB core to along with Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward at corner who I think will be an absolute star
  11. Want to guess whos number 1? Enough hockey people for you? Hull, Hawerchuk, Ferraro, most notable is McSorley and Robitaille whos played with BOTH
  12. Sorry , I thought this was the Dan QUINN thread. hahah yeah lets get more Quinn Hughes stuff here. The Gretzky Lemieux stuff can go for ages. Its a real conversation piece talking about 2 transcendant talents, just like Kobe vs MJ, Tyson vs Ali etc.
  13. He's not a tier down, Mario is at the very least equal to Gretzky. They were in the same level and every other player in the league were 5 notches down.
  14. I suggest looking at the Penguins rosters pre Jagr and tell me how many future hall of famers you see playing with Mario not named Paul Coffey. Mario turned garbage into gold with those players. He literally turned pylons in to 80-90 pt players
  15. Mario made everyone better around him too, probably just as good if not more than Wayne. Wayne had perennial hall of famers playing with him, that were still good players even AFTER Gretzky got traded to the Kings, Kurri, Anderson, Tikanen were still pretty good players. Before Jagr, Mario was basically working with guys that just came out of the bus and turned them into 90-100 pt players. Best example? Kevin Stevens. Stevens was probably vying for the best LW in the game alongside Luc Robitaille at that time, Stevens turned into trash as soon as he left Mario's team. Mario was bigger than Wayne, yes, but Wayne had the most important thing going for him, Health. Teams can't exactly key on Gretzkys line because Messier line was pretty good as well, with Mario, teams had to only stop one player from the Penguins. Numerous injuries derailed Lemieux's career. Keep in mind when Lemieux was putting up astronomical numbers in the mid-80s, he was also heavy gamer, a pack and a half smoker and didnt have a clue what a healthy diet was. It wasn't just just about the numbers, its how Lemieux put up those numbers. The most impressive season that Ive ever seen a player play was Mario's I want to say 1994 season?, winning the scoring title after finishing up his treatment from Hodgekins disease!!! Think about that for a second, a guy steps out of the hospital, laces his skates and ends up winning the Art Ross (and Hart?). And by the way, had he played a full season that year, Mario would've broken Gretzkys pts and goals record for the season. I remember watching sportspage everynight trying to find out how many pts Mario scored that night, he'd put up 4-5 on consecutive nights, 2 pts would be a bad game for him. Like I said, we're both splitting hairs here, on whos better and we're not the only ones that have this debate before. Quite simply put, one game, Gretzky vs Lemieux, best day vs best day with equally skilled linemates, I'd take Mario simply because he has the size and reach because both their hockey IQ are pretty equal. I have over 50 Gretzky cards in my collection, much more than I have of Lemieux's ( I have I think about 15- 20), so im not exactly playing favorites here.
  16. Would be ironic if Linus Karlsson is the guy going the other way to Ottawa
  17. Im a massive Gretzky fan, but I'd take Mario over Wayne any day, best on best. Thats my IMO, but we are splitting hairs here though. Gretz and Super Mario were 1 and 2 in their hay day, and there was everyone else, and it wasn't even remotely close
  18. I agree, his shot is actually one of his weaker traits. He's really good at getting them through because he changes a lot of the angles with his skating, but hes blasting muffins out there
  19. Benning already looks bad even when McCann was with the Panthers. At least Jared was able to stay relatively healthy and contributed in spurts. Even if Gudbranson/McCann cancel each other out, we still lost the trade with Benning also throwing a 4th rounder the other way. Terrible deal that didn't need to be made
  20. I'd rather have a player that plays 8-10 minutes a game than a guy whos in the injury ward for basically half to 2 thirds of the season. Sutter wins faceoffs blah blah blah who cares, its a moot point if he can't stay on the ice. Gaudettes progressing fine, and he's probably shown more this season than Brandon Sutter has. You heard of Jay Beagle? He wins faceoffs in the D-zone just fine. Chess analogy? A missing pawn in a chess piece, isn't very useful
  21. What store did you get your rose colored glasses from?
  22. Sutter is awful, hes been terrible the last 2 seasons. Newsflash! We've been losing even with Sutter in the lineup. He does absolutely nothing. Hes not the 1st, 2nd and sometimes hes not even the 3rd best faceoff man in the team on many nights hes actually playing. The only thing Sutter has been good for is either an empty stomach in the pressbox or keeping the medical staff entertained.
  23. Don't worry, tsn1040 doesn't get a lot of love in general. 1040 pretty much has all the has beens, no where close to the guys in 650. Canucks lunch and the playbook are must listen to programs, especially the playbook. They just go in depth with the Canucks prospects, the draft, very insightful
  24. Heres hoping you get better bud. I think for me, If i was ever in the NHL, 3 concussions, im done. Don't even want to bother with it. I know the lure of playing the game is nice but trying to remember your kids names or not knowing where you live is pretty scary think about. No amount of money is worth losing that much brain function. I hope Sven gets well but man, recently married with a kid on the way, thats going to be tough decision if his post concussion stuff lingers
  25. You mean moo point. Like a cows a opinion
