Exactly. The fact that Beagle made an over paid scorer, and young journey man player useful is already an achievement on its own. Sutter has never formed chemistry with anyone other than the medical staff in his time here so far.
-
Sutter is not mediocre? Why don't you explain your rationale? - He's been here 3-4 years, was given 2nd line minutes, 1st line with the Sedins, pp1 with the Sedins, didn't do nothing. -He was supposed to be this shut down centreman and yet we were in the bottom or near the bottom last year on Goals against, can't stay healthy, we have a losing record with him in the lineup and hes getting paid 4.5 million. If you are ok with a 4th line centre making 4.5 million thats injury prone that does F-all then good thing you aren't running this team
-
Beagle eats up those minutes. When Beagle came back from his injury, hes made a dramatic difference to this team, and most of all made other players better. Sutter is injury prone, has pretty much had a revolving door of linemates and still, nothing sticks. Is Gaudette better? not yet, but hes faster, developing at a rapid pace, and most of all has a cheaper salary. Sutter's getting paid almost 4.5 million, is mediocre at best, and can't even stay healthy to last a full season.

I agree. Its like he went from Grade 7 straight to University. Its a massive jump of competition, from playing Major Junior to going up against a top 3 NHL team loaded with stars. Showed some nice moxy tonight despite all the goals, im not too worried about MIkey
-
Doubt that ever happens or it wont stick. Gaudette's played centre all his life. If he does play wing, its going to be on the PP. I think it was Benning or someone else just recently went on the playbook saying Gaudette is going to stay a exclusively a centre since he rarely if at all plays wing

I'll take that deal. They can have Granlund too

If he shows well in camp or in his 9 games, you'll never know

Exactly, its F-ing selfish. Spend a couple months trying to win a cup and come back to a team that he wants to be a part of long term, or just be a stubborn child and stay put, probably piss off the fanbase, and risk not getting a contract to come back home. Add to the fact that the assets coming back will benefit Edler in his latter years here. Wouldn't you want to improve your situation of your workplace by helping the team? Edler should be burned to the stake if he doesn't waive, it clearly shows its all about him and not the long term plans for the team

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
filthycanuck replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
The way Byram is playing, he might be shooting up to top 3 category by the draft -
Gaunce for Dal Colle (NYI). 2 guys that never panned out, Gaunce might be the more guaranteed roster player while Dal Colle has the higher upside
-
Id even take a 3rd - or a 4th for Sutter, if we can get more, then great! The fact that his salary can possibly come off the books and could be allocated to a Michael Furland is worth trading the "foundational piece of $hit" LOL
-
A contending team or a young team on the brink of making it to the playoffs can use Sutter. If Carolina is close, they'd be a pretty good fit with all their young players. Toronto, Vegas could be pretty decent destinations
-
Benning went on record last season and had offers for Brandon Sutter, but passed. Might be different this time around with Gaudette knocking very hard on the door. Is it just pure coincidence that team's dip in play coincided with Sutter coming back into the lineup? Hes overrated, skating is so so, a defensive specialist who can't defend, injury prone and vastly overpaid. Gaudette is an NHLer and deserves to be on the roster
-
I don't know if theres a comparable, but in IMO, I know its a different sport, but he's hockeys version of Allan Iverson

Getting rid of Sutter and Granlund's salaries = Michael Ferland
-
How so? Must have been pretty damn easy for Megna to score all 100 goals playing with the Sedins. Just because you're with good players, its not given you're gonna score. You either put up points or you don't. Im not saying Baertchi is terrible. Im just stating the fact that Goldy's been playing well and yet people's patience are so short for him and yet the leash is much longer for Jake and Sven, when at one point earlier in their careers have struggled.
-
Sutter was in PK1 last year, enlighten me on what place our PK was at the end of the season? Thats what I thought. Sutter is injury prone and barely helps this team other than the odd overtime goal here and there. Jury is still out on Beagle on whether he can stay healthy or not, fact is, Sutter annually misses a lot of games during the season and is no where near what hes getting paid for as a "foundational player"
-
Bo Horvat, pretty good player if you've heard of him
-
Id get rid of Sutter. He's redundant and injury prone, I'd even keep Motte over Sutter, I don't think Ive seen a game where Motte has had a bad game. The guy is playing for his career every single night, and deserves to be in the lineup
-
Baertchi has 3 more seasons under his belt, what were you expecting? Baertchi was NOWHERE close to being as good as Goldobin at the same age. This is Goldy's 1st full season in the NHL, not many players get into the league get the work ethic down pat, it takes them a few years to realize what it takes to stay in the lineup
-
Goldy's got holes in his game, we get that, sometimes he goes stretches in the game where he's invisible and next thing you know, he makes a fancy play and gets in the score sheet. People make it seem that Baertchi is this dominant player thats always noticeable, well in fact hes not. He still makes the same gaffes as Goldy right now or even when he was at the same age. If anything, you'd give the vote for Goldy as I've seen him be one of the top forwards more than Baertchi
-
I doubt Goldy is gonna be exposed. Same rules as Vegas, 7 forwards, 3 dmen, 1 goalie. I really doubt Baertchi is still going to be with the Canucks beyond next season, and possibility even this year considering Goldy provides the same thing as Sven does with a third of a cap hit. Baertchi's injury history is a big red flag going forward
-
The few times I watched him play, he kind of looks like Matthew Lombardi when he was wit the Flames. Fast, plays a bit like a firefly in which hes absolutely everywhere on the ice, has some decent finish. Lombardi got 500 plus games in the bigs, and if thats Tyler Madden's floor, thats pretty damn good for a 3rd rounder
-
same here. His dad John was a decent scorer but was an absolute stud defensively. PK1 and dominant in the face off circle.
