  1. Bedevilled ( South Korean) 7/10 The title and cover case makes it come across as a horror movie but it's more of drama thriller in my opinion. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it considering it's a movie about a woman being a slave and in the end fighting back. As long as the viewer doesn't mind the slow build up and sad movies then I would recommend it.
  2. I for one do not criticize anyone for their opinions about virtanens supposed poor season but I tend to see in a different light. During his draft year he score more goals than assists and the first knock on him was he didn't use his linemates as much as he should. He acknowledged this and this season he has more assists than goals. Now the knock on him is he hasn't scored enough. I have never had any kind of major shoulder injury or surgury but imagine that playing hurt for as long as he did and having the surgury has taken a toll on him much like it did for Hunter Shinkaruk and his hip ( who has gone through the same criticisms but has really improved greatly) so him not scoring as much at this point should not be a major concern. The coaches and management are very pleased with his play during the Calder playoffs because he's playing a simple but effective physical game while generating some chances, if he happens to score a few points then great but what he's doing now is still contributing in a positive way. One pet peeve of mine is the constant comparing of Virtanen to either Ehlers or Nylander. I know there's a strong argument to be made about needing pure elite skill players being inserted into the prospect pool to hopefully replace the Sedins one day but I don't think that's really necessary. First off, virtanen will never out score either Ehlers or Nylander if all the players reach their ceiling. He does not play a pure skill game so why compare him to players that do? He is a power forward that will dominate physically and can hopefully be responsible defensively while generating offence. Finding players capable of scoring is not hard it's finding the ones who can score and be effective without the puck as well. Benning and Linden have a plan for the team and as long as they stick to it the future team will be a fast, physical, two way team who will likely lack superstar players and score by committee rather than one line.
  3. At this point I'm just hoping this doesn't turn out to be another Luongo type scenario. I trust Benning and Linden to not let this turn into a gong show but if they play hard to get for too long then eventually the teams interested will look elsewhere. Here's hoping the draft will be the day all of this is settled.
  4. Sounds like a down to earth kind of guy and I like the fact that he will adapt to the way the players play instead of trying to adapt the players to his system. The only someone questionable thing he said was when he was asked about working with Gulutzan again. Not that I think he was overly negative about the question but I was expecting him to say he would happy to work with him again but it sounds like he's somewhat hesitant. Maybe he was just referring to what kind of role Gully will have but is there any chance the two may not be together behind the bench come October?
  5. Groundhog Day Bring me the head of Mike Gillis ( actually bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia) All quiet on the western front
  6. Because there's no guarantee that Stevens will even want the job or that, after interviewing him, Gillis will want him. You don't bet all your chips on one hand unless you are either confident enough in in or willing to take the risk in losing everything. We also have to consider that they also need assistant coaches as well. Perhaps a guy like Tortorella may be a good assistant, if he was willing to accept a lower position.
  7. At this point does it really matter who they hire? Fans can say whatever they want about AV but he was the Canucks most winningest coach of all time and with him they won scoring titles, presidents trophies, best goalie tandem, and going one game away from winning the Stanley cup. The point is, considering all that AV accomplished in Vancouver how does a new coach succeed? The only way to top AV is to win the Stanley cup and if he doesn't then he will just be another coach who failed along with he rest. In the end, I just want to see this saga over with. Regardless of who they choose I will support the team and give the new coach a chance. I really don,t don't care about a coaches past stats because when they coach the Canucks it's about what he does here and not anywhere else.
  8. Hi, sorry I have't responded I don't go on my profile much but I noticed you have commented recently.

  9. would him reporting to the moose take a year off his contract just the same as him reporting to the Canucks? I don't really know and have been curious since it seemed that Schroeder might turn pro.
  10. I haven't watched him play at all but from the sounds of the teams troubles his stats on paper may be a bit deceiving. If he does go to the Moose, which I believe he will, he will have a higher caliber of players by his side which could help him showcase his true talent in the long run.
  11. If it is true that Schroeder is leaving and signing with the Canucks then this is good news. I don't know much about the "U" or their coaching staff but from what has been said about them, it sounds like they are having some development issues. There is no telling what caliber Schroeder will develop into but I believe he has more talent and upside than White did and that if his development hits the right track, he will be in the NHL soon enough. I still believe to this day that White could have been a good player in the NHL if he had the right development. From what it looks like, White may have spent too much time in Minnesota which dragged him down. If Schroeder is leaving then at least there is hope that he will get the attention he deserves and can get world class coaches to prepare him for the NHL.
