  1. All in all a very successful year for Canucks prospects. Very excited to watch Utica next year.
  2. If we wind up in the top 10, I don't think we should move up, just draft the BPA.
  3. I think the team hit bottom after the Dallas game, Calgary was the first step, it can only go up from here!
  4. Just started listening to the radio feed, how has Jensen looked? Sounds like he's on the 3rd line?
  5. I keep hearing how Sam Reinhardt is undersized, but he's 6'1 and 185lbs already, not huge. But definitely not undersized.
  6. I don't think Linden has any desire to become the teams GM, I could see however if a change was made, Gilman could step in as GM and Linden could be brought in as director of hockey ops or something like that, kind of like the role Sakic has now in Colorado.
  7. I think well end up somewhere between 7th and 10th. If we could get 1 of either Ritchie or Virtanen with our pick I would be very happy, they both seem to have the blend of size speed and skill that we have been lacking.
  8. Is that the order of how you think the picks will go, or the picks in order that you think Vancouver should pick?
  9. Who are some guys to watch out for in the top10-14 picks that we could get? I admittedly haven't done a ton of research, but a guy like Jake Virtanen looks interesting, good size, good hands, good shot, good skater, smart player, and plays with an edge. Sounds like the type of guy we need, a scoring F. Anyone else have their eyes on someone in particular?
  10. This slump has to be laid first and foremost on the twins and burr. They are the 1st line and their job is to score... And they just haven't. You can't blame this on MG or Torts... They can't get out on the ice and score the goals.
  11. Haha has a goalie ever won the vezina with a losing record?? Just kidding, but it seriously seems like we could have vezina quality tending right now and still lose the majority of the games.
  12. Oh absolutely, Believe me it has sucked this year... It hasn't even been entertaining at all, boring lackluster play since the new year. Calgary at least is playing with some fire every night. BUT, I don't think this is the new norm for this team, the Sedins and Burr didn't just become terrible overnight, this team has to bounce back if not this season than next. I really liked the way the team was playing under torts at the start of the year and especially December, that wasn't a mirage.
  13. Cassels Jensen Fox Gaunce They are all 1 tier down from the 3 you mentioned, but still worth talking about. Pretty much all of our junior players have had successful seasons this year.
  14. Double shifting kes and kassian and no Hansen or Schroeder? Might need a re think.
  15. Yea, But you know we fans have been fairly spoiled over the last 6 years and have been able to watch some great hockey and celebrate a lot of wins. I know some will point out we never won the cup and it doesn't matter... But there's 30 teams in the league and only 1 can win, most teams don't even get close. So if it's our turn now to eat a little humble pie and suffer through more losses than wins for the foreseeable future let's try to suck it up and do it with some class. I get countless hours of basically free entertainment every year, and I will always cheer for this team. It's the least I can do as a fan.
  16. Does Kesler always play the Right side when he plays wing? I'd like to see him in Danny's spot on the left side so Henrik can set him up for one timers with his right handed shot. It's been very effective on the PP before so it should work 5-5, plus they can just keep it simple and get some shots on net and clean up the rebounds. Kes Henrik Kassian Higgins Schroeder Hansen Booth Mathias Burrows Archibald Dalpe sestito Kassian and Burrows could be switched, but kassian is decent around the net, so hopefully he can clean up the garbage.
  17. Listen chief, (JK) I would say he won the ehrhoff trade, Samuelson as well, the booth deal was a steal at the time; but booth has not played even close to his potential or even previous levels. Trades have definitely been MG's weakest area, no denying that. You can't just say UFA's don't count though, of course they count and I think he has performed above average in that area: Lack, Santorelli, garrison, Malhotra, Ericsson, Tanev are all or were very solid FA pickups that cost this team nothing. Sulzer as well. You say he inherited the 11 team and now look what he's done to it.... What has he done to it? All of the core pieces of that team are still here and pretty much every single one of them is under performing, as much as we want to lay this all on MG's feet, it's up to the guys on the ice to play the games and I think they've done a pretty poor job of it this year. The rumored offer for Kes was sutter a 1st and a 2nd... Would you really rather have that package now than Kesler? IMO, This off season is MG's time to put up or shut up, he needs to make some real moves to shake this team up, and if he stands pat again we should be looking for a replacement before the season starts.
  18. You don't think kes has more value than MSL at this stage of their careers?
  19. I'm not saying this core will turn around and win a cup all of a sudden, but these things can't just happen overnight, teams aren't just lining up to give us their best young prospects for our under performing vets. The only way out of this situation is with patience, smart drafting (which I think we've done lately) and hopefully a trade or two at the deadline.
  20. I don't think one random picture is enough to make an informed observation. I'm sure he was very involved today, hence why nothing happened!
  21. How do you know what was offered? I doubt it would have included guys like nyquist or mantha, and after them who would we get that could replace Kesler?
  22. Buddy, we won't be Calgary unless we continue down this same path for at least 2 more seasons. Teams have off years, almost every player is under producing this year, it's just unsustainable for the team to continue performing this poorly. Look at Montreal a few years ago, they had a terrible year and were near the bottom of the league after being in the top 10 the year before, now they are right back near the top with the same core group of players. As with most things, it's never as good or as bad as it seems at the time.
