That's the way I see it. And it wasn't just Edler and Tanev. I think at one point we were missing 6 or 7 regulars. This season we have upgraded our D bigly and brought in Miller to play with Petterson and Boeser. Not to mention our young stars (Horvat, Boeser, Petersson) are going to be even better with experience.
We're playoff bound, baby!
I'm counting on it! Last season the crazy amount of injuries ruined it for us when we were in a position to make the playoffs. We'll be better up front with Miller coming and the young guys developing. Management is going to make moves to improve the D...which is already better with Hughes. Markstrom is still peaking. Looking good!
I agree that would be a deadly core in 2020 but not 2 years down the road. I doubt that Edler would be a top pair dman at age 35 and with his injury record. He would slot in better on the second pairing. By then Hughes and Myers would be the top pair.
I agree he might be worth a gamble. His career stats at every level are unreal. He's been a prolific scorer. Even with his size he might be ok in today's game. And who knows, he might have a late growth spurt!
I'm on the Caufield bandwagon. 9 goals in only 3 games at the worlds, tying Kessel's record for the tourney. He's small but a pure goal scorer. Where is he listed in most draft boards?
Wow, that was a period long fire drill! Thank god Demko's hot. What a treat it has been to get stellar goaltending from both Markstrom and Demko. It's the least of our worries moving forward.
Now, if only we don't get SHUT OUT by Binnington! Let's win the turd! Petey with the tying and winning goals!
Now, more than ever.
We need a player who can be a shining example to the youngsters of hard work, determination, skill, leadership, abrasiveness, pain in the ass-ness ... and oh yeah, humour!
