  1. Hey, goals by Higgins, Henrik, and Kesler! We're halfway there, LOL!!
  2. And that's after finally scoring a goal!
  3. 6-0 Canucks over New York Slumpbusters. Henrik, Burrows, Kesler, Hansen, Higgins, and Booth all score!
  4. I'm banking on Matthias and Jensen to spark the team. We're due for a breakout offensively, especially against a team that's worse (?) than us. 4-1 Canucks with Matthias, Jensen, Burrows, and Kes scoring. If the Canucks can't beat Calgary, then I KNOW they're playing to get Torts and/or Gillis fired.
  5. I'm with ya. Lu bashers keep harping on his 5 game losing streak which led to Lack taking over the starter's job. This was when he had a minor league defense in front of him with Hamhuis, Bieksa, and Tanev and Henrik among others missing. Goals were going in off odd man rushes, screens, deflections, and even our own players. But people only remember the goals Lu 'allowed'. Those goals caused Lu's sparkling .924 save % to plummet to a still respectable .917. And people were comparing it to Lack's 'superior' stats. Let's see what happens to Lack's stats in a few more games like this. The expectations for Lu were just unreal.
  6. Canucks are playing to get Torts and Gillis fired.
  7. Pretty sure you'd be talking about the 3 goals on 8 shots that he gave up if it was Lu.
  8. I prefer the Swedish Meatballs... in an endearing way! Canucks played without heart last game. Dallas wants it more. Dallas wins 3-1.
  9. This would be the ideal situation and I hope it happens. I was being facetious in response to the comment about Lack having to wait four years to have a good team in front of him... assuming he will be the starter. As we've seen ANYTHING can happen. We've lost BOTH of the elite goalies we had last season. And foolish fans here had something to do with that.
  10. Four years? He could be gone long before then. There'll be another goalie controversy next season between him and Markstrom. And Lack could be traded. After all, he did back up Markstrom back in Sweden. In the right environment, Markstrom could become the elite goalie that he's supposed to be. Be prepared for more drama. The fans here will see to that.
  11. Lu and Schneider were good friends too. Both are gone! But yeah... their future's bright!
  12. Nah... Florida GM Tallon was quoted as saying they were interested last summer and talks 'restarted on Monday'. That's after the classic. So Tortorella is still a tool.
  13. I'm worried about a lack of goalie with Lu gone. This team is truly a goalie graveyard. They're already preparing a plot for Eddie. I think we see a demoralized team tonight.... 4-1 Phoenix.
  14. You know that song 'Big Yellow Taxi'? Lu's in that taxi.
  15. You're entitled to your perceptions and opinions on the whole Luongo scenario, of course. But you lose all credibility with your last statement. You make it sound humiliating to be #2 on the greatest hockey team in the world. I don't think Lu minded and neither would any other elite NHL goalie. I'd say Lu being #2 on that team was pretty great.
  16. Brick, this is actually a great question to ask those Lu haters who criticise his 'poor recent play'. How do they explain how Lu could have an incredible winning month of December... peaking at an impressive save % of .924... but suddenly lose 5 in a row in January? Did he suddenly become a bad goalie? Jeez, could it BE that having a depleted, error-prone team missing core players like Henrik, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Tanev (sometimes all the same time) playing in front of Lu might have something to do with it? Get a clue, people. If you don't think that number of injuries affects the performance of a team and a goalie, then you ARE clueless. Name another NHL team that has had to play without its top scorer and 3 of their top 4 dmen AND win. Lack didn't fare much better. He lost too ... even when the team was relatively healthy, except for Lu. So it's a crock for some people here to suggest that Lu wasn't playing well, and that's why he lost his starting job to Lack. He hasn't been given the opportunity to play since the team has gotten healthy again. And what a joke with Torts saying he played Lack because he gave the team the best chance to get the win. So Luongo, who was good enough to play for Team Canada is not good enough for the Vancouver Canucks? Torts had to know too that eventually Lack would have a bad game and he'd have to go back to Lu. How good would Lu be after playing just one game in a month? It's just setting him up for failure and adding fuel to the fire. The worst part of it is Torts admitted in his post game interview that he knew his decision to start Lack would cause a controversy. He did it anyway and he said he would do it again. What an insensitive moron. He obviously doesn't care about cultivating a stable and harmonious environment within the team. And this is going to be his downfall eventually.
  17. Has Torts announced that Lack is starting yet? If so, what was his reasoning? IMO, he would be pretty clueless to not think that this would cause an uproar. First, you have to give respect to your franchise goalie. This is not just any game... it's a special showcase game. And it's not like he played himself off the starter's job. He was good enough for Yzerman and Team Canada, FFS. Even if he was 'only' the backup, it was still a huge honour. Secondly, the longer Lu goes without playing, the more it'll hurt his game. There's a chance he'll be rusty when he does get back, and it would just add fuel to the controversy. Did the team not learn anything from last season's debacle?
  18. My thoughts exactly. I think another possibility is that there's a conflict between Torts and Lu.
  19. There are no Luongo apologists because there's no reason for any apologies. Just 'supporters', Heifer, just supporters!
  20. Let me try. First of all, both of their last 5 starts were losses. Lu's last 5 were a 2-4 loss to Edmonton (1 EN goal); 2-5 to Chicago (1 EN); 1-3 to Boston; 2-5 to Montreal (1 EN); 1-3 to Toronto (1 own goal off Edler). In all these losses, there were core players missing.... in 2 of the games, 3 of the top 4 dmen (Hamhuis, Bieksa, Tanev) were missing. Their top point getter Henrik was also missing. It's a tall order for any team (and goalie) to win in the same situation. Yet Luongo really only had 1 bad game out of the 5. In that stretch there were a couple of deflections off our own players for own goals... I forget when. Lack's last 5 were a 1-9 blowout to Anaheim when he allowed 3 goals on 13 shots and got pulled; 3-4 loss to Winnipeg; 0-2 (1 EN) to Detroit; 0-1 to St. Louis; 1-2 SOL to Minnesota. The difference is that Lack had a healthy team in front of him for 2 of his games.... the debacle against Anaheim and the last game vs Minnesota. Luongo did not have that luxury in his 5 games. I will give credit to Lack for playing well in 4 of his 5 losses. Luongo did the same under more challenging conditions. So, no way can anyone say Lack played better than Luongo in each of their last 5 starts. There's no reason to not play Luongo again, despite Lack's solid play. Luongo has proven that he's capable of the same when the team in front of him is healthy. Have people forgotten the team's amazing run in December when Lu played most of the games? Is it a coincidence that Lu's fortunes took a downturn when the team ran into serious injury problems? IMO, Lu has done nothing to lose his starter job. His only 'sin' has been to lose with a seriously depleted team in front of him. He should be playing in the classic. If not, it would be another (undeserved) slap in the face to him.
  21. I remember how classy Schneider was in saying Brodeur should be the starter in New Jersey's classic considering what Brodeur meant to the organization. Too bad Eddie lacks that same respect for Luongo.
  22. You make it sound like Lu's play has been so bad. Have you already forgotten the awesome December the Canucks had when Luongo played most of the games? Up until just before the 7 game losing streak his save % was .924, well above Lack's and even Carey Price's. And as you know, injuries took its toll and both Lu and Lack had to play with an error prone minor league defense in front of them. Lack came in and played well when Lu was injured. But now that Lu's healthy and rested post-Olympics, he should be given the opportunity to play again. It's not like he played himself out of his starter job. Exactly.
  23. Bingo! Lu's in play. It's the only explanation. Tell me the Canucks brass isn't stupid enough to send Gillis and Torts over to Florida to smooth things over with Lu last summer... watch him play one of his best seasons... watch him play himself onto Team Canada... watch him conduct himself with nothing but class all season.... and then FOR NO REASON AT ALL.... slap him in the face AGAIN by sitting him three games in a row! They aren't THAT stupid... are they... are they? Hello?
