  1. I'm a huge Luongo fan so I'd hate to see him traded. But I accept that there's a real possibility that Lu gets moved by next season. I think when Gillis flew to Florida last summer to smooth things over with Lu, a promise was made to trade him closer to home at the most opportune time. And what better time than now? Luongo has proven that he can still play at a high level... having accomplished a save % of .924 just before the team crashed in January (due to team injuries), and having made Team Canada as the backup (no shame in that). Lack seems to have won the team's (and Torts') confidence in him. I think it's very possible Lu is in play. We'll know for sure if he isn't starting in the Heritage Classic!
  2. I guess it makes you the idiot for posting idiotic comments.
  3. The Olympics proved it.... really? Backup on the greatest hockey team on earth... I'll take it. Other impressive goalies not named Luongo they could've had for a backup but didn't: Crawford, Holtby, Scrivens, Bernier, Harding, Fleury ... Smith was picked but DND. Yeah, Yzerman's an idiot picking a washed-up goalie for Team Canada.
  4. Gotta feel sorry for him. He was playing a solid game for 2 periods. But how was he supposed to save a shot that he was screened on and rings off the post? And stop a deflection off his own defenseman? Yet the story is going to be Luongo 'let in' 3 goals.
  5. Hawks will think the same and take us lightly. We will surprise them 2-1. Burr and Daniel finally score.
  6. Can't remember the last time the Canucks converted on an odd man break like the Oilers goal. Why can't we do that?
  7. Fer crissakes... why can't we ever get a FLUKE goal. It always seems to happen to us!
  8. We finally break out offensively and win 4-1. Sestito, and then Lain, pound Hanzal late in the game when the score is 4-1 and get 7 minute penaltys. Add Phoenix to the list of teams that gets our message.
  9. Damn, yet another game we 'shoulda won' but blew in the third period! It's so frustrating! Going into the third, I was THINKING that 'sh' word. Later I was screaming that other 'sh' word!
  10. Looking forward to seeing Sully in a new suit that fits and Gully in his new combover! Canucks will play inspired for Torts and win 4-1.
  11. It's or its? Yes, irony at its finest. (intended for Nucks4cup)
  12. Torts would've had his organs handed to him on a plate. He crossed the line looking for Hartley at the Flames dressing room. The league is going to come down hard on him, and that won't help the Canucks. But I do admire his passion and his willingness to protect his players. The Canucks have had three games in a row now filled with fights and misconducts... all justified on the part of the Canucks because they were just standing up for themselves. It's just too bad everyone ... opposition players, fans, referees, league brass... are unfairly going to brand them as just a goon squad. Referees in particular are going to give them a very short leash.
  13. It wasn't pretty but we'll take it. The slump is over! We needed a big game from Luongo to do it!
  14. Gotta love Torts for sticking up for our guys. Calgary wanted to goon it up from the first shift. They've been wanting to hurt our already injured guys.
  15. Will we EVER score again? We can't seem to put away our chances. That was one long period!
  16. Of course the team WANTS to get back there. But inspiration isn't enough. And I don't fault the team's effort for most of this season. It's clear this team hasn't got enough skill to get back there. You can't get blood out of a stone. What Torts does that I don't like is overplaying the top players... the Sedins, Kesler, Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Garrison. They can't sustain the minutes and the pace for the whole season and will be burnt out by the playoffs. They look burnt out now. The mental fatigue results in a lack of finish, uncharacteristic errors, and possibly injuries. Torts has to show more confidence and give more minutes to his fourth line and third defensive pairing. They need the playing time for their development. And this is crucial to the team's success in the playoffs... if they get there.
  17. Not saying it's Torts fault at all... simply that it wasn't AV's fault. Didn't he basically have the same 'group of posers' to work with?He took the fall when Gillis failed to make moves to address the team's deficiencies since 2011. I would've preferred the 'new fresh look' coming from a bonafide second line player and a solid third line centre than from a new coach.
  18. I guess AV wasn't the problem after all, eh? The Rangers and Nucks are trending in opposite directions now.
  19. It was a laugher. So I can only laugh. Put this one in the trash and try again tomorrow. By the way, I said last month... while they were winning... this team wasn't talented enough as is to go far. They struggle to score goals. I also said IF they got into the playoffs it would be an early exit. I got flamed for it. I stand by what I said because nothing has changed. And the current losing streak against particularly the division rival Cali teams proves that.
  20. Not sure what it is you want from the Canucks. Yes, ideally they play it tough AND win the game. But they didn't but it's not from lack of trying. What was the alternative then? The rough stuff was precipitated by Nolan taking a run at Daniel. Do you think the Canucks should've turn their cheeks and hope to make them pay with a power play? That tactic didn't work out when Marchand face washed Daniel. And it won't work with our powerless play now either. Rolling over when cheap shots are taken at our stars sends the message that they can do it again with impunity. The right message had to be sent and it was. It's debatable that it cost them a win... they could've turned the other cheek and still lost.
  21. Loved the message the Canucks gave the Kings in this game... take liberties with our guys, esp the stars, and you'll pay. Even if the cost is heavy, i.e. the loss, the message has to be sent. Too bad Sestito got 7 mins and a game for so little. I wish he had at least got to rag doll that weasel Nolan for that. That would really make Nolan think twice before he cheap shots our guys again.
  22. Torts will have the Canucks out with fire in the belly after the 'worst game of the season'. LA is also a team they are chasing and can overtake with a victory (in reg). Good bounceback game for a 4-2 win. Sedins come alive.
  23. I hope Stamkos plays. People pay big bucks to see the elite players play. Besides, we don't want any excuses when we crush them 4-1.
